Getting a tablet made for my kid seemed like a great idea since he constantly reaches for more adult based tablets.I figured it’s pretty much be the same experience, a tablet is a tablet, right? It’s not. Setting up this device you could see where chats were made. The network card on this tablet was pretty bad. I was just a room over from my modem and I was having trouble setting anything up due to connection issues. Other devices I have had no problem with internet connections in this room, however this tablet struggled Once I got past set up, the responsiveness of the screen seemed to be a bit off. It doesn’t bother my 3 year old kid as much cuz he’s yet to reach full techie with high expectations status…but it irked me a bit Once you get passed those two hangups, and consider the purpose of this tablet, it’s solid. It offers all the apps you’d need from an Android tablet. It’s design makes it so you’re not as worried about your kid shattering the glass like you would on another tablet…you can comfortably give this to your young child and not worry about it breaking.

This is actually a very good execution of a great idea for kids. I have two toddlers and a 7 month old i wanted to have this shared between. First off they all love it! There is a few things that could be better but ill go over those.  First off this is an android based tablet with a custom OS that molded around the companies app they use to guide kids into safe content. This actually worked amazingly well. It will block them from doing any sort of bad things you wouldnt want them doing. For example pulling down the top bar to change brightness and settings it just doesnt allow it. If watching videos through the video app it provides approved links to youtube videos of exactly what you want without ads somehow lol. Everything this can do is what you can find on a normal tablet anyway its just put together in a way a small child can take advantage of without having to worry about what they are doing ever which is so so nice! I set mine up without any login info and skipped everything optional just to see how far you could go like that and it works. The speakers are fairly bad and souless but heres the thing with that.. as a parent you dont WANT them to have a loud ridiculous speaker right so this is actually funny enough perfect because even at full volume its not intrusive.  The battery life is decent and it will make it through a whole day of use here basically being on all day and off for naps times.  The screen isnt the greatest but again since this isnt for anything besides child entertainment this is perfect and very usable even in the car for us. Overall this is an amazing tablet. Id have given 5 stars if it was a newer model tablet used as a base and USB c charging as micro is dated and poor quality. Everything functionality wise is perfect as youd want it for your little ones. Once you go through and set everything up its great to hand it off and watch your kids face light up like you just gave them an iphone 14 pro max LOL.

Got this tablet for our 4 year old nephew to replace a broken “less rugged” tablet. This one comes with a kid friendly rugged protector that seems like it will do a much better job protecting it from drops and bumps. He really likes the large pen that it comes with for coloring and selecting things on the tablet. The fold out stand works well although it is a bit difficult to flip out for small hands (maybe because it’s new). The Kidoz app is great to limit the usage to just age appropriate content. Videos play well and there’s a fair amount of content between the Kidoz app and the store. The tablet is Google Android based and you need to create or use an existing google account if you’d like to download any additional apps/content from the Google Play Store. We like that there is controls to prevent in-app purchases. From a speed and performance perspective, it isn’t blazing fast, but videos play well and this is a relatively inexpensive tablet, so not expecting blazing speeds. This tablet should last a lot longer with it’s rugged protection!

    Great Tablet for Kids!

My son is 4 years old and although we try to limit his time on electronics, sometimes they can be useful. The Vankyo Matrix Pad is a great option when it comes to a tablet for kids. The most obvious reason is because it comes with a case which is very protective and easy to clean. Anyone with kids knows that they love to put things in their mouth and they can make a mess. There are a few things that make this tablet stand out from other tablets that are also made just for kids. The first is that it comes with a stylus. The stylus also comes with a string to attach it to the tablet which I found very useful, since my son is great at losing things. This allows him to draw and write with some of the included apps it has for learning. Another thing this has is the kid’s software which it comes with and is free to use. This has many apps and games that are great for young kids to learn. I would much rather my son be using these types of apps than watching videos or movies. Another great thing this tablet has is a companion app for your phone that lets you set parental controls and have control over the tablet. This tablet is a great value for the price, it works well, and it is an android based tablet so you can download anything you want to it. This also make it age appropriate for a child of any age. If you are looking for a tablet for you kid that you want to be both durable, and inexpensive I would definitely look at the Matrix Pad.

This is being used for a rambunctious 3 year old. Other tablets, phones, and iPads just get thrown around, and have left room for very expensive broken electronic incidents. But, insert this Matrixpad. Setup was very easy, I had no problems at all. It does use Android OS, so it may be an adjustment for iPhone, and iPad users just a heads up. I love the customization so that there aren’t any buttons accidentally pressed, or a phone call made in error. He is able to use the tablet the entire day, with a little left over on a full charge. I feel confident, and at ease with how durable this MatrixPad is. It can definitely take a beating, and most of all he’s loved using it everyday. The picture and sound quality leave a bit to be desired, but this is for children and not really meant for that in my opinion. This provides safe, fun, educational activities to keep kids occupied. They can carry it around without worrying about breaking a screen, or any other undesirable actions. It gets the job done well.

    Gets the job done

The Vanky S7 Kids Edition is essentially a basic (i.e., slow) Android tablet that comes with a pen, protective case and the Kidoz app. The Kidoz app lets parents lock down the tablet so that their child can only access specific content from within the Kidoz app itself. It’s not a bad concept, but it’s overall a cumbersome experience between the app’s UI and the lack of horsepower of the tablet. The main benefit is once everything is set up, you can safely hand this to your child instead of giving them your phone to keep them occupied. Out of the box, you first have to set up the tablet itself through the Android OS. This is not much different than setting up any Android machine. In fact, you don’t even have to log in to your Google account to use it. Once that’s done, it behaves like any other Android tablet. Next, launch the Kidoz app. You will need to set up a Kidoz parent account to allow the app to lock down the tablet and ensure your child can’t use anything but the Kidoz app itself. In my case, I entered my email but never received the verification link. The app worked anyway and let me then setup a password for making changes in the app itself, or for exiting it. One nice feature is the app can also run automatically upon restarting the tablet, ensuring that your child can’t get around the app by rebooting the device. The Kidoz app doesn’t seem to get or care what information you entered during the Android setup. So despite telling Android that I’m in the USA and use English, the Kidoz app has a number of pre-selected foreign language content baked in. Some of this content appears first making the experience confusing. To make any kind of changes to the content, you have to enter the password when you set up the Kidoz account. There are several sections to the content including videos (all from YouTube), games, websites, apps, camera and more. Depending on the type of content you want to add, different steps are required. For example, if you want to give your child access to certain apps like Disney+, you first have to exit Kidoz and install it on the tablet via the Play. Then go back into Kidoz and add it in the admin section as an accessible app. For YouTube content, you can search for videos directly in the Kidoz app. Once you have content in the Kidoz app, you can favorite the stuff you like, or you can also see recently used videos, games, etc. There is a search function but it doesn’t seem to work. No matter what I tried to search, it gave no results. This bug is especially a problem because the list of content cannot be reordered. Also, in the videos section, you can favorite individual videos but not channels. You can ultimately set up a functioning kid-friendly tablet if you’re diligent. But between the slowness of the tablet and cumbersome UI of the Kidoz app, I can only give it a just-barely-passing recommendation.

Verdict. The Vankyo S7 has very nice features, and hits the right price point to make it a great option if you want a tablet small kids. While this is our first dedicated for our kids, we have had a few broken screens from our kids using our devices. We got this for a four-year old, and we are very excited about not having to share more expensive devices with him. First impression. The tablet comes with a removable, very rugged case. While the case appears tough enough to take hits and survive drops, it has a nice soft feel to it. As you would expect, the tablet has a camera (front and rear actually) and speakers. The case has a built in stand, which is a really nice feature. The tablet also includes a big and easy-to-grasp stylus, a charging cable, a plug adapter, and a very nice quick start guide, and other manuals. Setup. Basic setup was easier than expected to get into the tablet: select WiFi network, choose to copy data from a google account (we chose to not copy anything), and that’s it. Once you are in the tablet, you still need to create a parent account and kid profile for Kidoz to really get the most of the children safety controls. Features. The pre-installed Kidoz app is actually pretty powerful. Through the parental controls settings, you can lock everything down and control what apps are available to kids. You can also create multiple profiles so each child can have an account. You can monitor and control screen time, and you can see everything that was accessed on the tablet. If you want, you can also prevent kids from leaving the safe mode through a password. The Kidoz app has lots of safe content built in, and it’s enough for kids to be entertained. There are also learning games and drawing/coloring apps. Finally, you can access the Play store to download apps, such as streaming apps and allow access to these specific apps from the Kidoz mode through the parental controls. Usage. The tablet is quite responsive in loading apps and streaming. The touchscreen works well will fingers, but the pen seems to be temperamental; I think the wide tip on the pen is made for specific applications, like drawing or coloring, but isn’t perfectly suited for general navigation. The entire package (rugged case, rugged pen, and S7 tabled) is a great package that works well together. The Kidoz app is very intuitive and doesn't require teaching, specially with kids that have grown up around technology. Also, as they grow up, they can begin to learn the Android ecosystem that is outside of Kidoz, and you can evolve the permissions with age. What I love: - Rugged case with a stand and rugged pencil - Android OS, which we like because we already have some Android devices - Tablet specs are more than capable of running kids apps and watch videos - The Kidoz app is powerful and allows full control over apps and screen time - The Kidoz app also has quite a lot of content for kids - Beyond Kidoz, the Google Playstore for kids has even more content available, and allows access to other apps (for example for streaming) - The IPS display is easier on the eyes, which is important as kids develop - It comes with the USB plug! So many devices now just come with a cable and no plug. Thank you for including the plug! What I don’t love: - The removable case can be a good idea, but the main issue with removability is that the tablet is vulnerable once removed from the case. Kids sometime get bored and they want to explore what's under the case. I wish it was a little harder to remove the tablet from the case, just to reduce the chance of damage a little more - The pen works better for specific apps, but not as well for general navigation and selecting items. This is fine since kids instinctively use their fingers for navigation now Overall, this is a great kids tablet if you want an inexpensive tablet dedicated for your kids, and if you want ample parental controls. This tablet is even better if you are in the google eco system because the tablet runs on AndroidOS, so besides Kidoz, you can have access to all your google apps and data. If you compare this tablet to high end models, then you will find some flaws and spec differences. However, considering the price point, the features, and that kids are the primary users for this tablet, I give this product five stars. The value is unbeatable, especially with access to the google ecosystem. I recommend it.

My boys are both under 5 and both of them use our Ipads and android tablets so they're fairly well versed on how to use a tablet. I got the MatrixPad S7 to alleviate fights between them over a tablet. The MatrixPad comes with a robust feeling case already on it that has already allowed it to be stepped on, thrown and dropped without breaking the tablet. It also comes with a rather large pen that works with the tablet. It runs off of an android system and seems about as good as you can expect for a cheap tablet. It has lost connection quite a bit since getting it, which for whatever reason seems to happen with my other android tablets but not my ipads. It's pretty slow but my kids are used to having the older technology because i'm not giving them my new shiny stuff to break. I have a 2 year old and 5 year old. The 2 year old seems to be ok with the tablet but the 5 year old is way more familiar with apps and downloading things, he doesn't seem to be into this tablet. I think this would be a good first basic tablet for someone with a 2-5 year old that you don't have to worry about it breaking and you don't have to break the bank if it does break.

My 5 year old loves it. He calls his phone because he can do everything I can with my phone its just bigger. He is a little harder in devices so having the protective case is perfect for him. It was easy for him to use and has wonderful apps he could use without setting up a google account. The stylus was a neat little add on for it. He is in kindergarten and needed something to teach how to be responsible with electronics. He was super excited to play games with the older kids. I don't have to worry about what he can or cannot access. For some reason it would disconnect from the internet. I have not figured out if thats an issue with the internet at the time or device itself. Overall he loves it and I'm happy he has something that keeps him entertained while also learning. Drawing and taking pics and playing superhero games are his top favorite things. All kids love Roblox and that was 1 of the first games downloaded which worked pretty good for the games he was playing. Just hoping it holds up with a little active boy.

GOOD - Protective case - Decent parental controls - Storage for stylus in case - Built-in stand BAD - Slow performance - Requires separate account registration - Horrible battery life - Configuring children's profile is time consuming - Stylus doesn't work well - Protective cover blocks SD slot and hampers button access - Stand doesn't work in portrait orientation TL/DR The MatrixPad S7 is a great idea to get kid-friendly content for younger users. However, the tablet is slow and clunky at times, the content is online only, and the system isn't easy to configure for multiple children. Still, it's unreasonable to expect better at this price. The MatrixPad S7 faces an impossible dilemma. On the one hand, it's already hard enough to find a good performing tablet for under $100. Getting a good tablet WITH a kid-proof bumper case AND with curated kid-friendly content for under $100 isn't going to happen. And most people aren't willing to spend more for something that's still likely to be mishandled and broken by children. So that tablet itself is of course rather cheap, which means older and slower internals. The foam case around it seems actually pretty good and tough. It has some nice bounce and will certainly protect the tablet from most drops and impacts. However with how thick the case is, the deeply recessed buttons can be a hassle to reach for thicker adult fingers. The case also covers and blocks the SD card slot of the tablet, which may or may not be an issue. If you want to load a bunch of movies onto a card, say for a road trip, you might have problems with that. The battery life is also rather poor, barely lasting more than a few hours. The tablet includes a big stylus and tether string ( you have to tie it on to both the stylus and tablet frame ). The stylus thankfully stores in the kickstand hinge. However, the stylus itself is pretty bad. It doesn't track smoothly or consistently on the screen. Also, while the stand on the frame is great for landscape, it's pretty much pointless to use in portrait mode. The S7 uses third-party Kidoz for the children content and parental controls. Kidoz is essentially a partner service curator. Game, app, and content creators can submit their stuff to Kidoz to be included in their catalog, which is inside the Kidoz app on the tablet. To use any of the customization or parent controls in the Kidoz app, you have to create an account ( yay, another one ) with Kidoz. You can use their web site to configure the allowed content in the app, but all the controls and settings are also accessible on the tablet itself. Indeed, some controls are ONLY available on the tablet. So there's no reason to force you to make an account, other than to have even more email addresses to market to. Customizing the tablet for kids is not very convenient. By default, everything within Kidoz itself is enabled. You can toggle entire categories on or off ( Apps, Online Games, Video and TV streaming, and Websites ), but there is no way to search, group, or sort through everything within those categories. There's no categories for content approved by age group, nothing grouping games that are just for entertainment and those meant to be educational. No categories for video channels by content type. None of the content has any descriptions or synopses either. There's really no way for parents to know what something is unless they watch/play it first. With the sheer number of things available, it can be rather time consuming. So if you want to disable something specific, you have to go into that category and scroll through everything one by one until you find it ( again, no search or sort features ). Kidoz allows multiple profiles so you can setup one for each child. That's great in theory, because you might want to allow different content for different aged kids. However, there's no way to make any kind of template from one profile to another. You can't copy one profile to make another. So for every profile you make, you have to go through the same setup process of selecting each content item, one by one, to turn off the things you don't want. The programming and content itself is . . . mixed. As hinted that the games are categorized as "Online," the Kidoz app is essentially a web browser and the content itself is just a bookmarked web page. There are a few actual applications that you can download and install through the Google Play Store that will be accessible within Kidoz. But if you don't have internet, nearly everything within Kidoz is unavailable. When you launch a game or activity, it can take a while to load. A big reason the battery doesn't last long is because the tablet is constantly using Wi-Fi to load the web pages. For someone with intermediate Android know-how, you'd likely get better results if you enabled the Android multi-user option and just made a limited user guest account. Then you can limit what applications can be used, what system settings can be changed, and you don't need to create any third-party accounts or losing most your content just because you don't have Wi-Fi during long car trips.

I'm torn on this tablet. It's a good size for toddlers but will be too small for kids. I like the idea of the protective case knowing my child is prone to dropping or throwing things but it's so bulky it's difficult to access the power button to unlock it or access the charge port. This thing is super slow but my son mainly uses the coloring book app or watches videos on it. The included stylus is OK but I find the size kind of awkward for anyone to actually use. Battery life is OK and it seems to charge decently fast. I like the kids app that you can lock and filter kid safe content but hate that you have to sign up for another service to actually use those features. With an android tablet I feel like once you set it up you should be good to use the basic features without giving your information to every single app you try. The screen is OK for a toddler but adults and older kids will probably complain about it. If you are looking for something bare bones to entertain a toddler on road trips or going out to eat and don't have high expectations for performance this would be a good option to avoid giving your phone to your kid.

So I got this tablet for my autistic son. He has an iPad but it’s constantly dead or broken and figured this would be a nice little back for him to have in case once again I’m left without a tablet. It’s an android OS so it’s a little different than the iPad but for the most part all his apps he likes don’t see to be an issue so far mi us a game here or there. As far as durability goes I would say that’s where the extra stars come from on this review. This little thing is tough as nails. Like I said earlier my so. Is autistic and because of that his iPad takes a beating constantly. That thing is frail and is always either getting repaired or I’m getting a new one for him for as much as those cost they really need to work on it’s longevity I always put a case on it otterbox or something comparable. This one comes built into a case and it is strong and can take a beating so for the price point alone for what you get this is a decent little tablet and will get it done for you. Comes in blue and pink.

This review is for the Vankyo - Matrix S7 kids 7 inch table. First off let me state that both my kids love it. It’s rugged and tough. The tablet is inserted into a very cushiony case, which has held up great to drops so far. The table it self runs an android OS. And has google play to down load apps/games. My kids wasted no time at all finding YouTube to watch videos and found some games that were pre-installed on this device. The only time I’ve had with the table is nap time. For my self I would like a higher quality picture, but my two kids could care less. And at this price it’s better than them playing with one of my phones and it has a better case then my phones anyways. Never had any battery issues. We get a full days use on a full charge. Charging it overnight every day. The table comes with a stylus pen, but my kids prefer to just use their finger, so it stays in the holder under the kickstand of the case. I dislike the micro usb connector for charging. It’s just one more cable I need to keep up with. But other than that it has provided hours of fun so far.

Out of box this thing has been a problem. It took several attempts to get connected to WiFi. Once we got that working it took almost 10 minutes to download and install YouTube app. When we got that installed I gave to my soon to use it, but he was saying that device is very slow (he currently has another product) and he did not even want it to use it. I decided to give it a try myself and honestly it was very disappointing how slow is it. Anything we attempt to install took forever and use was same, extremely slow. Screen has very poor colors which are kind of fading. Shortly after it we decided to take this tablet out of case and while we did front and back of device has separated, but it did close once we pressed back (it snaps on, no blue or screws). Only positive thing about this device it's weight (device is very light), because its kids product. I definitely expected more from it. Pros: Very light Cons: WIFI Issues Slow downloads Slow performance Poor screen colors Poor design

Great gift for kids! Especially during the holiday season! The games and apps come ready to use. Very easy set up just a few questions and your email address. The protection case for it is very nice too.

I would recommend this to a friend
