Despite my 2001 Dodge Caravan being repeatedly vandalized and previously stolen (last year), I couldn't conceive of purchasing a car alarm. Seemed to me that other people's alarms were always triggered by false alarms and no one seemed to pay attention. Besides, it wouldn't do me much good because I don't hear anything that goes on outside my house from my basement (The Man Cave). I arrived at a different opinion the morning I found a cinder block in my driver's seat. Don't know what was worse...someone tossing cement through my passenger side window or not discovering it until it was time to take the kids to school. In any case, I decided at that moment to go online a find an alarm for my car. The VIPER 5901 seemed perfect because of the 2-way remote. What goes on OUTSIDE sends an alert to the remote wherever the owner is. GREAT. So, while waiting for my VIPER to arrive in the mail, my wife neglects to use the steering wheel lock and the van was stolen. (((sigh))) Cancelled the online order and purchased a model from Best Buy (Golden Ring). As soon as the van was found and repaired, I drove it immediately to Best Buy to have it installed. Experienced a bit of trepidation as the original tech who accepted my car expressed difficulty with installation. Fortunately, he was wise enough to refer the job to their lead installer. 2 days later I drove my newly protected vehicle home. I may not have prevented my car from being vandalized, but at least with this excellent alarm I've leveled the playing field a bit. Maybe now they'll go pick on somebody else.

I purchased this in late september and had it installed the following week. The installers at Store 49 in Bloomington, Illinois did an absolutely amazing job. Job was completed in about five and a half hours, which included basic installation as well as other special features of the remote start. As for the actual product, I couldn't be any happier. I can start my car from inside my room on the fifth floor, and my car is parked over 300 yards away. The key fob notifies me if anyone gets too close to my car! The alarm is amazingly loud and the rechargeable battery lasts well over a month.

I have always owned Viper alarm systems, and was suprised with this one as a gift for my 2006 Ford F250 Diesel Pickup. I had it installed by Mark @ store 562 Sarasota FL. It took him about 5 hours and he did an amazing install job. The unit has AMAZING range, I can start it on the beach and have the cab cold by the time I get to the truck, or warmed in the morning before going to work. The remote is not very straight forward to make changes and to utilize the menu's however once it is set up it is a simple one button for what ever function you want. Overall if your on the fence.... buy this unit you will not be dissapointed.

This is definitely the way to go for remote starters! The distance on range is excellent and to get a response back on remote to know if it actually did the command is very nice. The only drawback to it is the screen on the remote is very easily scratched. I finally decided to get a cell phone screen protector and cut it out to fit the screen on the remote to keep it from getting scratched anymore. Was always worried of it keep getting scratched again.

I recently had this system installed on my 03 dodge ram and I must say that it is awesome. Matt and Jeremy at the Elmwood Best Buy made sure that it was done right and cut no corners. This system is good for any user and very easy to learn all optional functions. My only wish is that the lcd remote was more sensitive and the regular remote was less sensitive. All in all, it is a great buy.

I own a new 2009 Nissan Altima and I barely had it for 2 months and it was broken into. This has never happened with any of the other cars I have owned so I quickly decided that I needed to purchase an alarm system to have a peace of mind. I wanted a 2-way remote so that I can be notified on my keys incase I am not near the car. I love this Viper 5901 and the fact that its signal expands for 1 mile! The installer did an excellent job and explained in detail how to use the remote. My car has a start button and not a key entry so it did take about 6 hours to install, but the remote start DOES work for my type of car as well. Greatly satisfied with the service received at Best Buy in Far East El Paso!!!

well I bought this alarm with all the extras that you have to buy that dont come with the alarm as window up and down ,tilt sensor, glass breakage, the remote start is very nice but I really bought this alarm because the remote goes a mile and will let you know on the remote what is going on with the car remote, neat right! I took it to best buy and the guy had a hard time hooking it up took him two days to hook it up and then forgot to put the sensor on my trunk.so I had to take it back the next week to have the remote trunk installed as well as the shock sensor for the trunk. I have no problems at this time love it !

I had this for about 2 weeks now, and while I can say it works, and does what is supposed to do it is not worth the money.First of all I can say this from experience, I have two other cars that I have installed 2 way remote start/security systems for less than half of what I paid for this one and I do not see the diffeence.This one is rated 1 mile ( open field), my other ones are rated 3000 feet and I can tell you there is no difference between them when you try to remote start your car.The Viper will not work from a greater distance than my other 2 remotes( tested many times , in different terraines).It only comes with one 2way pager and one 1way pager.The 1way is even worse than the other transmitter, maybe half the range or so. After 3 days of using it maybe 3 or 4 times I found that the plastic window is cracked and I can assure you that I take care of my things, I never dropped it or put it in my back pocket.It is just cheap plastic, that's all.Not to mention how easy it is to press buttons if you put the transmiterr in your pocket and touch it accidentaly. Other than that it does what is supposed to do, protects your car and remote starts it.

this alarm is great, i wanted to get a 2 way page remote to let me know if my alarm is on or off but the main reason for the lcd screen for me is cause i sometimes forget if i locked my car or left it unlocked so thats why i went wit this one and i love it. i got a proximity sensor and the alarm gives me a page if someone is getting near my car i love it :)

i love this remote start. its great that the remote can be recharged. the only thing i seem to not be able to find out how to do is change the clock time. if you get all the features installed such as temp,open trunk, etc. it would be nice. best buy doesnt install those for you unless you tell them to. overall im very have from going to a one way remote start to a upscale 2 way lcd remote start

We got this installed on our '05 Suburban about 2yrs ago and loved it, sadly we no longer have this vehicle; but cannot wait to get it installed on our other vehicles (Texas summers are seriously HOT and winters are tempermental). We were also able to start our vehicle from inside of buildings (not just our home) and from pretty much anywhere outside (i.e. parking lot, parks).

Had the alarm installed at a local BB, they did a great job - no problems. I paid less than 2/5's the advertised BB price by buying online and then paid the store their install "fee" - well below the $700 some people have quoted - including the bypass module and installation/ Overall I'd recommend this particular alarm.

Overall the viper 5901 is def expensive but well worth it for an high end alarm/remote start/ 2way. And for the peice of mind you get knowing if someone is tampering with your car. With installation it comes with a price tag of $700 but for me its worth it. Plus with best buys flexible payments i couldn't resist to put on my 2007 dodge charger. Spend the money, you will not regret it. Also compatible with iphone module.

I am very pleased with Shelia, store manager, Mike, install, and big Mike who on a days notice, took my car in, and fixed the problem I was experiencing. Very pleased with the attention I received and the way I was treated. Mike even apologized for me having to bring my car back in. Thank you all!! Ric

It has worked great since i purchased it and i can't complain. When its cold I can start it from my class or work before its time to go and when I get outside its nice and warm.

Ok, I talk to a sales rep from bestbuy. got it down to -$50.00. Bought it for $469.99. went to pick it up, took it to the back and talk to the installer. After a few number crunching, it was going to cost me an additional $300.00 to install it on my Dodge Grand Caravan... OMG, that's almost $800 bucks total for this... Needless to say, I return it for refund. It it was under $500 bucks, I would of done it, but the extra cost just did me in.

I love it!! It starts up perfect every time & the alarm works great!! Highly recommended!!

The Best Buy technichian disconect the air conditioner when installing th alarm. I have to go back 3 times. He told me to go to the Toyota because he did not fix airconditioners. I went and they fixed for $89. I went back to Best Buy and he did't want to reimburse me anything, not even a gift card.although I brought him a copy of the invoice from Toyota specifying the air conditioner was damaged at the time of installation of the alarm system. It was very dissapointing..

It seems nobody knowes how to adjust the settings on remote, The back battery cover is made cheap, the tangs break off, You get a 1 way and a 2 way remote, both are junk, But they have a replacement remote for $85.00 that is built better than the ones that come with the alarm. I have turned on alarm ,put keys in my pocket , while walking to store I hear my truck start up, not to mention the bypass button, what good is this alarm if the theif can push the bypass button,and steal your car. If I would of known this I would of just got the remote start only. Then 1 week later brake off battery covers and return for a free replacment with the good remotes. and using the button lock feature is a pain, I will most likly get robbed trying to unlock the buttons ,before I can get in, This alarm has a silent alarm,setting where only the remote beeps, but nobody knowes how to set it.
