Great Affordable device that works w/ Ring+!

Saw that Ring+ was offering an almost free monthly cellphone plan, just deposit $15 to use for any overages like more mins or going over on data plan. The 1200 mins, 1200 texts and 1200MB was way more than Ill need for an emergency phone Im keeping in the car..
Ring+ uses Sprints towers so I was on the hunt for a lower budget device. I was going to get a Motorola E but while at Best Buy, browsing around, saw the Tribute 2 on sale for $39.
My main criteria was that it'd work on Ring+, a decent resolution screen and of course that its rootable, anything else would be a bonus..
This phone certainly fit the bill, I thought its a more attractive looking phone than Motorolo's.
It has a simlar design to the G3 which i always thought was cool, only a tad smaller. The power and volume buttons on back is a nice touch, the overall design is more appealing than the Motorola. The front looks like its bezeless, very sleek looking.
Theres a microSD slot which the Moto E didnt have, I think. Had an LG L9 in the past and found that LG makes good phones at good price points. Specs are comparable, features are there the one drawback is that hacking them can be a b*tch. Luckily, the Tribute2 can be rooted, wish that the bootloader wasnt locked so that we can run custom ROMs on it but its ok, having root is necessary to fully utilize the microSD card and fully benefit from the extra storage, moving apps, their files over to it allows more games/apps installed.
After 2 months now with it, it hasnt let me down yet Of course it doesnt get anywhere near the usage my main phone gets but it suits its purpose nicely for me and looks cool doing it.
If I knew anyone in the same boat as me, Id without a doubt recommend this phone to them for $40 or lower.

Good Phone for Affordable Price

For Virgin Mobile, this is a very good phone - especially for the price. I've been a Virgin Mobile user for over six years and their selection of phones have certainly improved over the years. Nevertheless, I'm a casual smartphone user, and don't need the bells and whistles offered by post-paid services. I purchased this to replace my aging ZTE Awe (4" screen, Android 4.1, 1.2 Mhz, 4GB, 1GB RAM), which was still working fine after two years. With the LG, the screen size is larger and the storage is twice as great (8 GB). It runs Android 5.1 and offers 4G LTE. Typical of VM phones, it comes stock with a lot of unnecessary bloatware which consumes valuable storage space. The camera is poor and the battery life is average. The cost is the best selling point, which is why I typically stick with the cheaper phones since I don't have to worry as much if it gets damaged or lost. So, if you're accustomed to VM's lower-end smartphones, you won't be disappointed. Even better, if you can "root" and replace with a custom ROM, which will definitely free up storage space and improve battery life further.

I bought this as a replacement for my LG optimus F3, because of its bigger screen size and larger hard storage (8 gigs vs 4 ) It was on sale for about $20 on Black Friday. Both phones work well, are pretty user friendly and have adequate battery life. They also both have 4G which is important to me since I do a lot of internet work away from my Wifi. The display is very nice, video works adequately, but I don't use it for watching video much. I'm really happy with this phone and at the bargain price I paid, it's a real deal. I have seen it for under $50 since, and even at that price, it's a great deal for a nice phone.

This phone is ok, very basic , fast and reliable. Phone quality on Sprint is good. Phone storage was key for me coming from Virgin Mobile phones that had limited amount. There is enough room for apps and they can be moved to a optional SD card.
The phone is nice looking the screen is sleek. The power and volume buttons are on the back which takes some getting used to,
I paid $85 on Amazon and feel it was worth the money, do not go to a Sprint store you can call Sprint Prepaid and activate on phone.

I bought this phone to replace my old Kyocera. DEFINITELY an upgrade. The phone is incredibly fast and does everything I need it to do. I am not a big fan of huge smartphones so take all this with a grain of salt, but for me it works perfectly. I can browse the web, play games, and the Best Buy app actually works on this one. If you want a fancy phone that talks to you and lets you play HD games for hours on end, this is probably not your phone. If you want a device that is slim, lightweight, durable, and the battery lasts I would definitely recommend this! The only reason it got 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the power and volume buttons on the back...who does that?? It is fine now that I am used to it, but DANG!

The phone is overall better than my old one. The only thing that is not as good is the camera. The pictures are a little difficult to get crisp and clear. Have tried several methods with mixed results. Otherwise like all the other features. good battery life and fast

I purchased this phone as an upgrade to an older model LG phone for my teenage grandson. He's very pleased with the battery life, and ease of operation. The size is good, and he's happy with the camera function as well. Overall I would say it's a great phone for a teen or perhaps someone getting into smart phones. It was definitely worth the price I paid for it.

I had the Tribute, but it was crushed in a bike accident. This is pretty much the same phone with the following differences and/or upgrades:
1) The plastic back is different that the Tribute. This one is blue and has the power and volume buttons located on the back. I do not like that they moved the power and volume buttons to the back plate. It is cumbersome to reach. I prefer the location on the original Tribute, but the blue color is nice vs the white of the tribute.
2) Tribute 2 has a little sharper resolution than the Tribute 854 x 480 vs 800 x 480 and a higher pixel density of 218 to 207 ppi. It's not a 720p display, but it gets the job done.
3) Lollipop is better than Kit Kat which is what the Tribute ran. Lollipop has more features and sharper looking icons. Plus, there are more stock wallpapers than on the Tribute.
4) Newer Snapdragon processor 410 vs 400 in the Tribute. Nice and snappy in both.
5) More Internal Storage in the Tribute 2 (8GB RAM vs 4GB for the Tribute)
I mean those are pretty much the only differences between the two. That and I think the external speaker sounds just a little better on the Tribute 2 than the Tribute. Battery life for both is about the same although the Tribute has a 2100 mAh battery with 15hr talk time and the 2 has a 16hr with only a 1900 mAh battery. Smaller battery but 1 hr more talk time? Well, I guess that means the 2 is just more efficient overall if that's the spec.
Also, one thing I did notice is that the Bluetooth chip in the 2 transmits a stronger signal than the Tribute. It is very pleasurable transmitting bluetooth through my car stereo. It really makes the speakers come alive.
They both weigh the same (4.9 oz).
The cameras both take similar quality pix at 5 mp and both can record in standard and full HD which is cool (720 and 1080p).
Both also have micro SD expansion slots for up to 32GB.
Call quality is excellent on the 2. I think it's just as good if not better than on the 1.
So that's it. It's a solid, reliable phone, and I give it 5 stars.

This phone has a great screen, battery, and processor compared to other phones in its class. The overall design is very nice with the updated button array on the back of the phone. LG has some of the most comfortable to use phones that takes very little time to get used to. The main downside to this phone is the camera. The way the camera operates is very outdated with no variable focus. If you are planning on getting this phone, dont plan on taking many pictures. Other than that, it is a great compact phone that will last you all day with calls and games.

The camera on this phone is bad. I guess there's no focus. Can't even scan a barcode.
Other then that I like the phone. It is ok for the price I paid, which was super cheap on a black Friday sale. I dropped it on the parking lot the second day i had it and it did not crack.
I do plan on upgrading in a few months just because the camera. I need to scan barcodes to save money on cartwheel.. lol.

I've used a lot of Virgin Mobile phones over the last 6 years and I bought these online on black Friday for $20 each. I purchased them for my husband and I because his had kicked the bucket. So far they have been the best phones so far. The only problem is that the camera isn't the best. It doesn't bother him much but as a mom of a 3 and 6 year old I am always taking pictures. It seems to have plenty of memory for the apps I use the most .

At its price, this is a pretty decent smartphone. I like that it's running a newer version of Android OS but with the limited storage you can only do but so much with regard to apps. It is true that some apps can be transferred to your SD card but it is also true that there are many that cannot. So when a system update is needed I often have to uninstall some things to make room etc. The camera is the most basic you can get on a smartphone but I'm not a heavy camera user. The battery is not great either.
If you just need a phone for light use, maybe you use a few apps, aren't fussy about cameras, and think it's ridiculous to spend $300-700 on a phone, get this one.

I have had so many phones & I am old school! I like the pull out keyboards, I am not much of a fan of the touch screen keyboard as they never work. It takes me 20 minutes to send a text as every word is wrong & they don't let you calibrate the screens any more. This phone may take a minute to text but it gives you the right words to choose instead of more words that don't exist, although it takes me more than 2 seconds to write a text it no longer takes me 20 minutes.
My phone doesn't die every 5 minutes like my other phones, I can plug it in anywhere & it works, unlike my other phones. I do not yell it at all day long & call it a POC all day long like I did my Samsung Galaxy & Iphone. I would never buy those products again! I am so happy this phone WORKS! First time in 20 years I have had a decent cell phone, now if I could find a significant other that works.....
If you like simple, inexpensive phones that work, get this one.

I had a Tribute that I was very happy with except for that fact that the small 4 GB memory wouldn't let me have more than 3 or 4 apps. The Tribute 2 has double the memory and although 8 GB is still minimal, it's a great phone for the price if you can be happy without a lot of apps.

Replaced an HTC One V; this phone has good features at a good price. Replaceable battery; like most phones, 1GB RAM, haven't had any memory issues yet, have changed out 8GB SD for a 32 GB, so plenty of storage. Sound average, battery life pretty good. Phone a little thicker and heavier than last phone, but still fits in pocket, which I wanted.

Pros:
* Fast mobile data
* Inexpensive (got mine on a Black Friday sale)
* Lightweight & relatively thin
* MicroSD slot (you'll need it, only has 8GB internal storage)
* Ships with Android Lollipop 5.1.1
* Quad-core CPU is fast enough for most apps
Cons:
* low-density screen
* only has 1024MB of RAM
* Low quality cameras front/back
* 1900 mAh battery rated for only 16 hours use
* As a budget/starter phone is unlikely to ever get updated to current Android OS version.
* Construction feels cheap and fragile. You'll want to put it in a case and get a screen protector.
I dislike the location of the buttons on the back of the phone, it is a very annoying and terrible design (you WILL at some point put your finger on the camera lens feeling for the buttons). I wish it had been available in other colors since I think the dark blue is ugly (but I figured I'll be covering the phone in a case anyway).

LG Tribute 2 is a solid budget smart phone. Great Build quality-strong, descent sound I can hear the person on the other end of the call perfectly and they can also hear me. The Battery life is solid. I like the screen size 4.5 screen...acceptable camera. Overall Good looking phone..it looks like a modern smart phone.
