The Vizio M21d-H8 soundbar packs in a plethora of features and good sound quality all for a good price. This sound bar is a 2.1 configuration and features 6 speakers (2 speakers, 2 tweeters & 2 subwoofers). Other features include HDMI in/out for an ARC connection with 4k HDR passthrough, Dolby DTS Virtual X, DTS digital surround, DTS TrueVolume, Dolby Audio, Bluetooth, Voice Assistant, Aux, Optical Audio and IR remote control learning so you can use your tv remote to raise and lower the soundbar volume. Also included was one hdmi cable, an optical audio cable, an aux cable, a rca to aux cable, remote with batteries and a mounting diagram with wall mounting slide on holders. When you first power on the soundbar it enters pairing mode which allows you to pair a bluetooth device to the sound bar; however, you must then switch the input on the soundbar to "Bluetooth" to actually stream the audio from your device even if it shows as connected on your device. The sound from the Vizio M21-H8 was clear, the bass was deep enough and the speakers got plenty loud for my viewing area of 11ft x 13ft. The small rubber feet on the bottom of the soundbar give just enough room for the bottom firing subwoofers to work their magic. The sleek design lets it disappear in darker setups as it's hard to make out the lines which I did like very much. Overall I'm very satisfied with the M21d-H8 and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good soundbar that doesn't break the bank.

Great Minimalist Soundbar

After owning a custom 5.1 audio speaker system and wanting to get something for my other living room setup, this soundbar definitely looks nice and performs well. Supporting ARC, having multiple speakers within the soundbar, and a minimalist look are what makes this soundbar a relatively easy purchase for soundbar users or those who don't want to spend a lot on good audio hardware. It does come with its own caveats though. No dedicated subwoofer, no panel displaying current EQ selection nor volume level number are a few of non-features users like myself might not like.
SETUP
Upon opening the box, I particularly liked how Vizio packaged all of the necessary cables needed for whichever audio option I decided to go with. Component, HDMI, and digital optical cables were provided. As far as the setup goes, it was as streamlined as could be. It took only a few minutes to have it fully setup and ready to try it out on our favorite movie. Using the ARC input on the soundbar and output on my TV, the soundbar seamlessly operates with my TV when I turn it on and off. Nice feature to have!
LOOKS
This speaker has a modern minimalistic look with cloth that wraps around the top and sides. There are no cables that stick out, and since it does not have a display, I think it definitely completes that modern look minimalists are striving for. Buttons with tactile touch are on one end of the speaker for power, input, and volume control as well.
AUDIO QUALITY
With the typical higher end systems, manufacturers include a dedicated subwoofer. The Vizio M series soundbar does not have an external subwoofer but instead, it has one internally in the soundbar. I found it lacking in bass while watching movies. I personally missed the room thundering with sound although this is a soundbar and is more for those whom would like good sound with a minimalistic setup. After taking this into consideration, the clarity from the speaker is absolutely astonishing. I've previously owned different soundbars but the way Vizio combined the array of speakers really does make the sound appear as it comes from all directions.
Overall, if you're looking into soundbars or would like an audio system that doesn't take too much space, do not pass up on trying Vizio's M series soundbar. Audio clarity, simplicity, and modern look are what makes this soundbar a nice pick.

The Vizio 2.1 Channel M-Series Sound Bar is a commendable audio solution for home entertainment. With a sleek design and a wireless subwoofer, it delivers a rich and immersive sound experience. The inclusion of DTS Virtual:X enhances the virtual surround sound effect. Additionally, the sound bar supports Bluetooth connectivity for wireless audio streaming. While it may not have the advanced features of higher-end models, the M-Series offers good value for its price, making it a solid choice for those looking to upgrade their TV audio without breaking the bank.

This sound bar has unexpectedly good sound for how cheap it was. Switched the TV audio output to Optical and never had any issue since. The only criticism I have for it is that unless you change the volume you can't tell how loud it's going to be until its too late.

So I was in the market for a sound bad. Lots of deciding on witch one to get compared a bunch. It’s for the tv In living room did not need a super big expense bar for the space I came across this all in one that was a bonus did not have to worry about space for the separate subwoofer. I kept watching this and saw it go on sale and could not resist and bought it slides right under my TV set up is easy as 123 my remote sync right up to it automatically “LG tv btw” comes with all cables needed/whatever your preference of hook up it “me hdmi arc” you can adjust the bass and treble witch is a plus has a few modes.. Game/Movie/Music witch is nice few other bells and whistles in settings. Sounds good on movies shows and games. I know it’s not $1,000 sound bar but for the price and space and my needs it’s perfect packs a punch in this little bar you get what you pay for everyone will have there own opinion but it also got great reviews witch helped me decide on it also so hopefully this helps someone also. Give it a shot.

Booming bass (I even have it turned down super low), gets very loud, fills the room rather nicely, was a great price.
My one con is that I couldn't get it to work with HDMI. We have a nearly brand-new Samsung TV and the only way I could get it to work was through Bluetooth or Optical Digital Audio. Bluetooth got annoying fast so ODA is what we use. HDMI provides better sound quality, so that would be my ultimate choice, but it won't work. ODA still sounds great. Controller use for adjusting bass, treble, etc. is not very user friendly. For these reasons, it lost a star. But it's still really loud, clear, and boomy, so I'm ultimately happy.

A good deal, especially for the price. Was delivered fast and set-up was easy considering all the cables for any type of installation were supplied. My TV isn't a smart TV so I didn't have a HDMI output, which will provide the best sound. Instead I used the optic cable which still produces a better audio experience than just the TV speaker. Every aspect is controlled from the remote (which came with battery, btw) The equalizer supplies settings for dialog, movies, music, etc. The bass may not be as pronounced as with a separate sub-woofer, but it is still a step above with its six speakers. And WiFi enables for smartphone application for music, etc. All in all, I'm very happy with this economical and quality sound bar.

A True Surprise with Some Direct Comparisons

This is an excellent soundbar that punches well above it's weight. I've waited 3+ months to write a review and in the meantime have auditioned 2 other soundbars (for another TV) so I've been able to make some direct comparisons. I had recently purchased the Bose TV Speaker and received the Yamaha SR-C20A as a gift. Both are priced well above the Vizio (with the Bose currently at 2x the cost). I love both Bose and Yamaha and have other products by both but there is seriously no comparison. The Vizio has a crisp, punchy sound and both bass and treble can be tailored to your liking to fit your room. The others only have bass adjustments and I found the Yamaha was really missing some treble as it does not have a tweeter for high frequencies. And without the Bass Extension enabled the sound unfortunately is anemic. The Bose TV Speaker fares better but it currently has a critical flaw where it amplifies quiet passages of programs (very evident in movies and shows) which produces an audible hiss almost like fan noise when a scene is supposed to be quiet. Once you notice it you pick it up every time. I also had issues with the remote learning function that were super annoying (volume would go up, down or randomly mute) when trying to change channels(!) which Bose acknowledged is an issue but there is currently no fix. Based on both these problems I returned the Bose because it was way too expensive to function like that. Hopefully they will do right with both of these flaws with a firmware update soon. Using the Vizio, on the other hand, has been a total pleasure and I am shocked at how good it sounds for the price and without a separate subwoofer. Movies and music both sound great and the DTS Virtual X does not overprocess the sound. As long as the Vizio proves reliable (and it has had absolutely no issues) I am sold on the capability of this company to produce a solid, great sounding product that performs well above its price.

I used this sound bar for a few weeks now. My main purpose was to use it for my second TV in the loft that has really weak TV speakers. First of all, this sound bar is quite stylish. I have a 5.1 Vizio sound bar as well but it doesn’t look anywhere nice as this 2.1 sound bar. The sound is great for movies and games as well as music. It has a good mid range and surprising has good bass for not having a separate subwoofer. The included remote is very easy to navigate and For the price I paid, I think this is a great sound bar. I would definitely recommend it!

Great everyday sound upgrade for Vizio M series TV

Solid upgrade to the built in speakers. I got this to improve the sound of a Vizio M series tv with pretty "meh" speakers.
I wanted something that was appropriate for always-on use, and got a good deal on this (which is already a good deal at msrp).
Because the room is open, it's not really acoustically set up for a lot of surround options, or even virtualization. Even a subwoofer would have been a bit clumsy (acoustically) to fill this large space, so I just wanted richer sound from the source, and this "2.1" soundbar fit the bill.
The sound is solid, and I bet it's really great in a small room. Like in a bedroom or office, this would be great, and I bet the bass would be even better. But even in the living room I have this in, the sound is good for the 80% of use it gets. You don't need thundering bass when watching American Ninja Warrior, or the news (especially not when loud ads come on, while volume leveling is off). If you watch a movie you saw in theaters, you might wish you had that rumbling bass, but this just isn't that kind of upgrade. If you're BIG into movie watching and the cinema experience, I'm surprised you're looking at this product, and this review.
It has a sound processing mode called DTS: Virtual X, which does a good job separating sound for an almost Atmos-like effect, but I don't mean it's simulating surround. It's just providing a wider soundstage, and even a bit of "height". You can think of it like "vertical stereo", like the sound is coming from around the screen, not just the immediate left and right, and not just from the bottom.
Last thing I'll say is that this soundbar is largely affordable enough that you can buy it for an immediate upgrade, while waiting for a good deal on a beefier setup.

This sound bar is amazing for a budget friendly sound bar. Luckily I got it when it was on sale, which made a sweet deal. The sound quality is very good, from video games, movies, tv, and music I love the sound. The dialogue comes in nice and clear, and the built in bass is powerful yet it doesn't muddy the sound. My one issue with it is there was a sound delay when paired to my TCL tv. Luckily, I was able to adjust the sound settings on my tv to have the video and sound sync up properly.

Excellent for my studio apartment where I want to minimize the look of electronics all over the place but still have great sound. Spectacular bass for an all in one and surprisingly warm and center soundstage no matter what angle you’re seated at to this soundbar! Anything more and I’d disturb the neighbors constantly, for the price and latest features and sleek design, I highly recommend Vizio for home entertainment audio needs!

This soundbar is a solid choice for anyone who just wants a simple upgrade from the awful built in TV speakers. After a couple years of thinking the TV speakers were fine, boy was I wrong.
Set up is super easy, the soundbar looks and sounds great. It's not the best one out there but you really can't beat the price.
I have it in my bedroom and it can get real LOUD real fast. This is most likely better suited for a living room set up but I've had no issues with it so far. The "night mode" is great for controlling the sound level when you don't want it too loud.
The bass sounds good enough for me and I like that I don't have to have an extra subwoofer but that's just my personal taste.
The only thing that bothers me is that it sometimes will cut off the video feed from my gaming console to my TV for a few seconds when I am turning it on or off. Not entirely sure why but I think it auto shuts off after a period of inactivity (10 mins?) and when I come back and start playing again my TV will lose the signal form the console for a few seconds. I just pause the game until its back but it is a minor inconvenience.
For an all-in-one soundbar at $150, this is the best you can probably get.
