The sound quality is great when playing surround and Dolby audio content. It doesn’t lag to find the audio source when I switch from one form of content to another, switch from cable to streaming services, or to a video game console.
The two rear speakers produce decent sound and the sub isn’t too heavy. The EQ setting are easy to figure out and change as needed.
This is my second Vizio sound-bar. The first one still sounds great after nearly five years of use but I decided to upgrade. For the price, I am very happy with the purchase and agree with all the other positive reviews noted.

Absolutely love it. It was recommended to us by an employee and the price to performance ratio for this sound system is fantastic. It is easy to set up, the surround sound is great, and the sub-woofer adds that extra oomph that helps sell what you're seeing on screen; if you play video games, it -will- make you want to start a whole new playthrough just to re-experience it.

Very happy. My last surround sound a/v receiver was a high end affair (Anthem) but I swear, this sound bar setup, in my humble opinion, rivals it. I'm amazed by the subwoofer, I'm amazed they are able to get such quality for such a reasonable price. Great deal!

After remodeling my basement, I figured it was time to revamp my home theater setup as well. I went from a traditional receiver-based 5.1 setup to this Atmos, DTS:X 5.1.2 setup and it is worlds better than what I had before. The sound is very balanced right out of the box and it's pretty immersive as well. I have it connected to a TCL TV via eARC and everything I stream seems to trigger the appropriate Dolby or DTX encoding. The sound with Atmos-based content is immersive and fulfilling, and although the up-firing speakers provide lots of height, it's not quite as positional as a 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 type of system, but it's still amazing for the price.
I have two complaints, however. First, firmware updates are via USB only and they are NOT for the faint of heart. You have to be very patient to let the bar announce to you the update has completed, don't go by the time they tell you on the Vizio firmware page. You will have to redo any of your setting customizations again but these updates don't happen frequently so it shouldn't be too big of a deal. Second, I've found there to be a 1-2 second lag between the start of viewing content and the start of sound coming from the bar. It's not a voice synchronization issue, for me everything is in synch, it seems like the bar needs to take a pause to analyze the stream, determine if it's Atmos, Dolby Digital, or DTS:X, then it will play. It may have everything to do with how I have it configured with my TV settings (TCL, eARC output, passthrough for all digital sound), but once it starts playing it is magnificent!
I purchased the 4 year warranty just because EVERY brand of soundbars can be a little flakey, but as of now I find this to be a really, really fun purchase! Recommended by lay-people and experts alike, this bar shouldn't disappoint. There is a newer version of this M-Series bar now, but this one should still rate high on anyone's shopping list.

This sound bar is great for the price! Dolby Atmos audio sounds FANTASTIC along with music and other forms of entertainment.
Small issues:
No wifi so must update with USB
Ive had the sound bar for 4 months now and ive had to reset it once after a power blip because it would not play Atmos. ..
All in all it is a great system and easy set up with a clean look and great sound!

Excellent surround sound with the small speakers mounted on speaker stands behind your seating area, especially with shows and movies encoded with DTS or Dolby Atmos. I love the fact that the Subwoofer is wireless. The soundbar works automatically with my cable remote as well as the TV remote. Solid performance for the price. There is a reason it is listed in the top ten soundbars especially in this price range by a lot of experts. Sounds very good playing music as well from multiple sources. Very pleased with this purchase.

This speaker is a work of art for the price. It made my 300 sqft living room sound like a theater. On Apple TV, some of the shows had sound effects that made me feel like they were real. Door knocks, police sirens, things falling... Amazing. I wish it had a companion app though.

Really awesome Dolby Atmos sound system. This thing sounds great! There are a lot of EQ settings you can adjust. In my opinion it’s a great value for the price point. I was gonna buy the Bose 900 but for $899 for only a sound bar, I felt like I would be missing the punch of the subwoofer. For half the price of the Bose sound bar you get a complete system with a subwoofer and two satellite speakers. This thing gets pretty loud. You might be able to find it on sale for $350 at that price point I feel like It’s a no brainer

Excellent soundbar for $399.00 on sale. Sounds good and has strong bass. The only drawback is it doesn’t have a screen. That’s normal for Vizio.

This sound bar has great sound when it works. Almost every time we want to watch TV I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to work. Luckily my Sony TV has great sound for when I don't feel like going thru resetting of the sound bar. Also the sound bar doesn't seem to react at all to inputs from the remote. There is no on screen display to monitor what the sound bar may be doing in response to the remote.

At this price point it is difficult to get a better soundbar than this.
A few points ill cover:
Setting up this system is so simple and easy. For atmos wire in your device to the soundbar, and hdmi earc it to your tv. It does the rest.
The settings do need some tinkering but the remote is super easy to navigate and use.
Soundwise the bar is amazing. I was quite suprised at the mid range and highs it produced. As always, Vizio gives you enough bass, too much at times. However it can be dialed in quite nicely overtime.
Concerning atmos, I was pleasantly suprised how well it worked. It doesnt compare to more expensive systems and soundbars, but for 500 dollars, you wont find anything comparable atm.
I have a hard ceiling that is about 10 foot tall and the sound bounces amazing well from the height channels.
Normal 5.1 and stereo sound great as well.
Overall, if you are looking for a budget atmos system with immersive sound, you cant go wrong with this soundbar from Vizio.

Sound is awesome, setup is a breeze. Strongly advise to use Hdmi Arc/EArc for input for best sound and ease of use. Great for any size bedrooms and apartments. Larger rooms without vaulted ceilings work well. Only negative is the fact the rear surround speakers have to be wired to the subwoofer which limits subwoofer placement. Overall its worth the cost and super satisfying.
