Bought this the other day as an open box. This display uses an Android tablet for it's controls. Being an Apple tablet user it took me a bit to get the hang of the Droid operating system - but found it easy and intuitive. This TV rocks! It up converts my 1080i cable feed to an awesome viewing experience. The apps, run really good and stable. This P series set is leaps, and bounds better than lower priced TVs and I would, compare it to displays costing twicemas much. Fantastic picture!! Very pleased.

First I returned a P50, which I loved, for the P55 primarily for the better refresh rate (hockey Fan). The first P55 unit was defective... Vizio said 3 to 4 weeks to replace it because it being so new...Best Buy said we will pick the defective unit up and drop off a new P55.... when do you want to do it....Great job Joe at IGH Best Buy.. As for the P55 C1 display it self... I'm not sure there is a better display at this price....Don't get me wrong a OLED display is a better picture, but its 4 times the money... The P55 picture is pretty good out of the box...But after calibrating the display thru a AVS Forum thread...all I can say is WOW. The Visio Smartcast tablet (Google Cast) takes a little getting use to but I'm really getting to like it. Netflix 4K streaming is amazing...the display does a excellent job upscaling all content My only problem... I have the 4K bug...its got me thinking of a 4k bluray player and adding Dolby ATMOS speakers to connect to my Denon AVR710W . The two knocks I've seen in reviews... no digital TV tuner...who cares ...and no 3D ...again who cares. Added bonus... if you do have to speak to Customer Service they are located in South Dakota or Missouri...Thanks Vizio. All in all this is an excellent display with all the future proof bells and whistles like HDR...Don't be a video Snob give Visio a look.

Technically, this is a display since it does not have a TV tuner. That means you can't directly connect a coaxial cable to this TV. Unless you are connecting an over-the-air antenna, that shouldn't be a problem for cable TV subscribers as you likely connect your TV via HDMI to the cable box anyway. Without a cable box you get most of your content through streaming. It has an integrated chromecast that you use to send content through the included tablet, your Android phone, or an iPhone with the Google Home app. As of this writing, you can get 4K streaming through Youtube, but you will not get HDR or audio beyond stereo. However, Netflix streams 4k, HDR, and Dolby Digital Audio. Netflix delivers a great picture, but from what I understand, the best picture will come through a 4K Bluray player (Xbox One S) is a great option. The display has various display options including gaming, vivid (soap-opera effect), and calibrated (perfect for watching movies). Regardless of the streamed options or display settings, I think the picture in 4K looks amazing. You can see every detail and the vast number of LED bulbs creates awesome contrast. In scenes with both dark and light content, the blacks are pitch black and the whites are bright. If you really want to test this contrast, try watching Gravity (also great for testing the audio). The only complaint I have is that sometimes the software on the phone takes more than one press to turn it on. If I could, I would give this TV a 4.5.

So the first part of my experience when looking for a TV. I knew I wanted another Vizio as CNET and RTINGS.com both gave this tv some really high scores. Especially considering the price compared to other units. When I went to the store to ask about the TV, the salesman and salesgirl both told me Vizio was garbage and to stay away. Strange, as I had 2 other Vizio TVs before with zero issue. They kept trying to push Sony and eventually Samsung and kept going back how Vizio is terrible and blah blah blah. I left, kind upset as I was hoping to buy the TV right then. I went to another store the next day and again, the exact thing. Trying to push Sony and bad mouthing Vizio. Disappointing. I've worked for Best Buy in the past and heres my take on that. Margin. I'm sure Sony had a larger margin and was probably giving some kickback for selling more TVs. Thats unfortunate, almost made me not buy at all. Ok, now about the TV. The TV is primarily a display for you components as there is no tuner to be able to call this a 'TV' per se. The built in presets are pretty good and require minor tweaking to get spot on. I used the CNET calibrated settings and it looks great in a darker room. I use the 'Calibrated' preset in a brighter room and it still looks fantastic. I use the 4th gen AppleTV as the main source for content even if it doesn't currently support 4K. The upscaling engine in the TV is pretty spot on as 1080P movies and shows look pretty great. Can't say too much about the sound as I use a Klipsch speaker system. Now the gimmick... The tablet. I understand why Vizio chose this route. As it give them updated apps on the tablet instead of having to update the apps built into the TV. Smart move for longevity. But the experience with the android tablet isn't very good. Ironically, the iOS version of the same app works 10x better. It connects super quick and the sliders all work and the way it's supposed to. Not having to wonder if a setting took or not. The tablet is fine for an extra device but I'm happier using the iOS version. To sum it up. This is a fantastic TV. Once calibrated and certain items adjusted the picture is great. Now, I was a huge Plasma guy so having to 'downgrade' to an LCD-TV was not something i looked forward to. But Vizio in general and with this TV have made me a loyal buyer. At least until OLED displays come down in price. I would gladly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a real knockout picture and value.

Had mine for a week now. Delivery team was right on time and I had the Tv on the wall in 20 minutes. Picture quality is excellent. Contrast is very good (don't worry about the bad rap for IPS panels, the FALD completely makes the black look black). Dolby Vision (Marco Polo on Netflix) is stunning. Netflix promises over 150 hours of DV programing by years end! Those who say you can't see a diff from 1080p are wrong! My smartcast works perfectly, but my Apple wireless is next to the TV. Very happy with this display!

While deciding if I wanted to purchase this television or another VIZIO TV (this is the other one - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/vizio-65-class-64-5-diag--led-2160p-with-chromecast-built-in-4k-ultra-hd-home-theater-display-black/4859200.p?skuId=4859200), I wound up purchasing this one mainly because the features seem, to me anyways, that these features would be the best for years to come. The reason I wanted to buy another TV in the first place was because my previous one got damaged in a move and always had dead pixels in the corner, so I wanted to get one and not buy another for many years to come. The features, look, and true depth of viewing customization have led me to believe that I made the best choice. I recommend this television to anyone who enjoys VIZIO products. I do find this brand to be on the same plateau as popular brands like Sony or Samsung, just without the arm-and-leg price hikes. I also recommend this brand if you want to not update for years, possibly decades so long as the technology doesn't make a big advancement in picture quality or so. 4K and UHD / HDR seem to be the standard for now, so hopefully it stays this way so as to not drive the public to run out and buy something new when the quality isn't that drastic of a change. However, the reason for my four-star rating is as follows; some things you should consider before buying: -No coaxial cable input While I know that the coax input is a tad outdated, I only mention this point in case any people predominately use cable through this means. While it isn't too bad for me, in case you have a set up that involves this TV using a coaxial cable. -It comes with two remotes, and it can be slightly inconvenient The tablet remote it comes with is the one you will need to use for all customization and chromecasting. Therein lies the drawback as the battery depletes very fast as you do use it for everything. The simplified remote is Pretty much to change inputs, volume, power, and link the tablet remote to the TV. With the simple remote, you can only change the picture setting to one of the six factory model types. A unique variant to this is that there is a variety of smartphones that can also be synced with the SmartCast app. So if you happen to need a quick replacement while your tablet remote recharges (it comes with a nice stand for wireless charging), you have this. This is almost what made me consider purchasing the other TV in the URL I posted in the beginning as it comes with Chromecast built-in, but in the end decided on this one for the refresh rate and HDR. -The price This is the main debate point. Both TVs I was considering were very similar, but I think this one was a little more over as it had a little more going for it. As I said, I don't want to upgrade for several years, so hopefully this will be that set. But at the grand total it comes to, if there is a less expensive TV that is comparable to this one, I say go with it. Overall, a wonderful set, and the few negatives are definitely overshadowed by the positives. The price will be the main factor in my opinion.

My first 4K set and I nervously purchased it worried how it would handle HD content as there isn't much outside of disk or streaming. I am very happy with the picture on either calibrated or calibrated dark setting through My Directv feed. Netflix 4K content looks incredible. The set supports Dolby Vision and soon HDR though firmware. I also like how the apps are not built into the set but are on the tablet and you use GoogleCast. This should help with keeping apps up to date over time. And as the title mentions with FALD the blacks are as good as the plasma.

    Amazing Display, Buggy Software

I will start by saying that the TV itself is absolutely gorgeous. The picture quality is amazing even right out of the box on the 'Calibrated' picture settings. HDR and 4K content that is available looks amazing. One of the main reasons I went for this TV and not something from Samsung or Sony was the fact that the TV itself is something of a 'dumb' TV. There's no interface or apps built-in. It's all via Google Cast. The TV comes with a 'tablet remote', which is basically a standard Android tablet with Vizio's remote app installed. You get to enjoy all the features and benefits of the latest version of every Android app, be it Netflix, HBO, Hulu, etc. The TV settings are all adjusted through the tablet. They give you a basic remote with it too, but it only has play/pause, power, volume, and source select. Working with the tablet remote is fine and when it works it's a great thing. Having owned a Chromecast before I've had experience watching things this way and it's very simple and intuitive once you get used to it. There are some bugs in the software that sometimes result in the Cast being interrupted or the audio cutting out. It's frustrating when these things happen and if I wasn't the type of person who loves tech so much I might have returned this already and gotten something from Samsung. I can forgive these issues because I know they can be fixed and I know that Vizio is fixing them (I have seen that through a couple of the updates that have already come through). Worst case scenario in my mind is bypassing the tablet all together and hooking up a Roku or something. The TV itself is still an amazing display. Other items: Looks - It's a very good looking TV with small bezels. They're silver, which I do not prefer, but they're not ugly. Sound - Not great, but I wouldn't expect good sound built-in from most TVs. I have this hooked up to one of Vizio's new SmartCast sound bars and the pair of them perform well. Inputs - Definitely on par with everyone else. You get 5 HDMI inputs (all 2.0) and a basic component input. One notable input that is missing is a coax plug for over-the-air TV. I knew I wouldn't be getting this going in and I suspect most people either have a cable box or are streaming everything they watch.

Absolutely love this TV. The picture is fantastic, the setup is fairly easy, and the Googlecast capabilities built in make it very functional right off the bat, without having to purchase any other streaming boxes like a Roku or Apple TV. The remote takes some getting used to, but it's fine and works well. Only negative is that the built in speakers aren't fantastic. They're adequate, and if you're not an audiophile you probably won't even notice any issues, but I wish the audio was a little better out of the box. I bought a Vizio soundbar to go with it and that solved all my sound issues though.

Much better than Samsung ks8000. If you hate blooming get this. Also arc works well unlike the Samsung that resets the setting Everytime you turn it off. It's not perfect though, tablet disconnects at times and I prefer the Samsung smart functions. Also no Amazon prime videos and I had to buy a Samsung 4k Blu-ray player to get Amazon HDR. Also the black levels are excellent. Matches or beats the ks8000 with better viewing angles since this is an IPS panel.

I had my eye on this TV for a long time before I finally purchased it when it went on sale on Black Friday. There were two choices I was deciding between, Vizio P55-C1 and Samsung UN55KS8000. I went with the Vizio because of two features the Samsung didn't have : - Active LED Zones for local dimming - Low input lag for games There were other things like the price and built-in Chromecast that won me over. I also like the mobile-device based remote, it makes changing TV settings very easy. I have the Vizio SmartCast installed on three Android devices I have so there's no need to hunt for a remote, I use whichever device is close to me. I am very satisfied with this TV but it does have a few negatives over the Samsung panel : - Reflection, if there's a window open or a lamp turned on the TV is pretty much unwatchable. It needs a dark room. - Sub-par scaling of low-res videos. 1080p is okay but 720p isn't pretty. Samsung does a much better job at this, which may explain the high input lag. - The tablet included with the TV cannot accept a SIM card or SD card to boost functionality. Not a big deal as I use it mainly within the house with WiFi and it has 16 GB storage built-in. - No tuner. I don't mind this at all but it may be needed for some people. Overall, this is great TV for HD/UltraHD movies and gaming in dark room. Check out RTINGS.com for detailed review of this and other TVs.

At first I was a bit dismayed with the interface between the tablet and my system but now it seems to be working as advertised. I have a 4K blu-ray player and have played a few titles on the monitor with fantastic results. Even regular non 4K titles look amazing. The price per value is very good. Just wish the standard remote control was full featured. Overall I would highly recommend this P series to anyone looking for a top rated picture

Absolutely enjoy the TV, read multiple reviews prior to purchasing it and a they mostly add up and are true. The TV has issues out the box with the tablet but this gets resolved with updates that are already available, just wait for the panel to download them as well as the tablet and the "Can't power on TV from tablet" issue goes away. The picture is great, 1080P and higher have no flaws in the picture quality, 480/720 don't upscale very well but it's not a huge deal breaker I mean I was casting from a website to watch a movie that was already ripped in poor quality so it is what it is. The sound isn't amazing but it tries, the bass isn't deep but that's why you go and buy a quality soundbar/sub or system if you want great sound. I personally feel that it was worth every penny spent, the only downsides for me are the problems with low quality images being blown up to fill the screen and glare can be annoying at times due to sunlight, but room lights don't affect it too much.

Bought this TV in July after reading extensive reviews online. I love that it has ditched its old proprietary "smart TV' experience in favor of building Chromecast into the TV. Now, I can push pretty much anything from my Android device, iPhone or iPad to the TV. The picture quality is fantastic! My roommate is now re-watching all of Game of Thrones from Season 1 and has commented on how beautiful the picture looks. He can see so much more detail in the dark scenes (and there are a lot of those) thanks to the improved 4K picture quality. It's such a huge improvement over my previous 2008 HD TV. Initial setup and connecting it to my WiFi was really easy. Now we can push YouTube, Google Play Music, Netflix, Hulu, etc. etc. up to the TV with ease thanks to the Chromecast support. In addition, we've connected my Comcast Cable box, an Apple TV and a Roku box to the Vizio TV. They work flawlessly and it's super easy to switch between them with the added Vizio remote. It's so easy that my retired mother picked it up in just 5 minutes! She's jealous -- she wants one now. Shortly after purchasing the TV, I got the new 2016 45" Vizio 5.1 soundbar system. Holy cow -- these things work together flawlessly and sound amazing. I connected the soundbar via HDMI to the special HDMI port and now I can use either the TV's remote or the soundbar's remote to control the audio. Love that. This TV includes a little Android tablet. We don't use it much in my house because we all have iPhones, iPads, etc. The tablet is great for accessing the TV's advanced settings. In addition, you could set it up with your Netflix and Hulu accounts (etc.) for easily selecting content and pushing it up to the TV. That's kind of what it's for. I've also set up my Feedly app and will occasionally browse my RSS news feeds. The screen is beautiful and responsive. Vizio has been good about updating the firmware on both the TV and the tablet. We've been very pleased with this purchase! I would definitely recommend this product to friends.

This was my second 4K screen. It is however, my first Vizio P series set, and I was amazed that the picture did and does startle me with its added depth and clarity. The older 4K is beautiful, but the P series does make my old 4K seem rather dull by comparison. Having technology live up to the hype is so very satisfying: the Vizio does that and more. As a quick aside about a lack of one specific feature: I was very impressed that Vizio chose not to supply this device with a tuner. I haven't understood why tuners were and are included in any large format display for many a long year, and only more so with the advent of 4K and now HDR. The Vizio is truly a home theater display, not a TV. I had a bit of a learning to do to feel comfortable giving up the big black slab of plastic remote control I've used since the remote wired directly to the hulking monster in my parents' family room. As I've never liked using my phone to control my home theater because I am a troglodyte, I wasn't sure I could make the transition. That said, using an Android mini tablet as the primary input device is working out fine now that I've added on controllers for all the other devices in my home theater set up. I haven't used the Chromecast much because it can't cast Amazon, but I can happily use the Android slab to control another 4K streamer just fine. I'm running all the sound through an AV receiver, so I can't say that the sound emanating from the Vizio is meaningful. I am of the opinion that if you are watching a 4K screen, you probably aren't listening to it using the throw-away speakers that come with the set. It is like watching a sunset over the ocean while listening to island music played on a kazoo. Anything else? Oh, yes, it was simplicity itself to set up. Fine tuning the various picture calibrations is straightforward. The default settings mostly worked for all the devices I threw at it. It was fairly much a plug-and-play addition to the family of devices, whether those attached directly to the HDMI on the set or connected through the AV receiver. In sum, I absolutely love my Vizio. It has a beautiful picture, with deep contrasts and incredibly rich colors. There are, of course, a plethora of technical reasons why the Vizio is so great, and a further raft of features that make Vizio such a great product. I read about them, as can you. At the end of the day (and this review) the most important thing is that watching the Vizio P-series display is a visceral pleasure.

This TV is absolutely stunning. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is because the Tablet Remote. It is a great idea it just runs too slow for my liking. Using the GoogleCast from my phone is far superior. I feel like a little bit of software tweaking will improve how it runs because the hardware should be good enough. There are just a few features that would improve the remotes function. For instance if the Tablet goes to sleep for more than an hour or so it will disconnect from the TV. I then have to reconnect to change content. If there was an always connect or never disconnect option it would be better. This is by no means a reason not to buy the TV. If Vizio spends a little bit of time on the remote it can easily be fixed but a software/ firmware update.

My mom has a Vizio M series from a couple years ago and I have always loved her tv. I would have never even thought to look at a Vizio, after reading tons of reviews on here and from different websites i decided on this one and am very happy with my choice.Have only had it a couple days so far but I love it! Paired it with the Vizio smartcast sound bar SB3851-D0 and it is amazing! (speakers to the TV not so great, my old Sony sounds much better why 4/5 instead of 5). The picture is great noticed details in movies i have watched on my old tv that i never noticed! The casting can be a little time consuming versus just clicking and go but it wasn't to big a deal as I used my phone a lot for my apple (always losing the remote) so its not a huge sacrifice. Over all I am VERY pleased so far, my son uses it for gaming and he loves the new set up as well! Definitely recommend.

I love this Home Theater Display. Coming from a 32 inch LCD, this display takes the cake. I researched for over 6 months trying to find the best set for my needs. This has it all! Other than 3D which seems to have left the building, all can be found on this unit. HDR and in the near future, HDR10, 4K, 120 Refresh Rate, Amazing picture, GoogleCast, Endless Apps. I haven't viewed any 4K content yet but the picture is already better than I have seen in any other unit with the exception of OLED but my wallet is much happier with me than if I would have purchased an OLED. The only drawback is the sound. It is worse than my old TV but I will be getting a sound bar which should remove the only negative with this unit.

THE GOOD The Vizio P-Series has outstanding overall picture quality that competes well against the highest-end TVs. It can handle both high-dynamic-range formats. The remote is a fully functional Android tablet. The Google Cast system offers more apps and frequent updates than many dedicated smart-TV systems. THE BAD Using the tablet for settings and streaming apps is often more of a hassle than traditional onscreen menus. No built-in tuner, so you can't watch over-the-air antenna broadcasts unless you attach a separate tuner. No HDR10 compatibility until a promised future software upgrade arrives. Sound quality is lacking. Highly recommend a sounder in addition to the set. THE BOTTOM LINE Forget the "free tablet," the real story with Vizio's excellent P-Series TV is top-notch picture quality and future-ready features at an affordable price.
