I was initially impressed by this TV after seeing the Rtings score on it. It was practically the same as the Sony Bravia 900F. I got this Vizio since it was about 2/3 the price of the Sony. When I got the TV, it worked flawlessly and had an amazing beautiful screen.
However, these last few days, about 3 weeks from the purchase, it started having a ton of issues. It started off with the TV taking a lot longer than usual to boot. Then it would shut off by itself when watching something. It got to the point where it would freeze often and no longer turn back on for several minutes after it would shut off.
Power cycling the TV didn't work nor did any of the setting adjustments that were recommended to try out. After doing the factory reset, the TV started continuing with these issues and also randomly would turn itself back on every couple of hours. It also started having some purple and green static distortion every time it would freeze and shut off (see attached photo). Today, the TV no longer turns on properly. If I turn it on, it will shut off in 10-15 minutes and takes around an hour or two to turn back on.
Honestly, for paying almost a grand on this TV, I'm getting such poor quality. I'm sending this TV back tomorrow and I don't think I will ever purchase a Vizio TV again in my life.

When I bought this tv I had an issue where the screen would not come on it kept cycling the boot screen. It took a month waiting for a part that never came for the tv to be repaired through the Best Buy geek squad warranty. It was replaced instead. Now the backlights are out in multiple reactions of this new replacement after nearly 9 months.

The first TV I got from BestBuy worked great for about 8 months. Then the screen would just cut out. Sound would be on just not picture. I would need to unplug to get the picture back, but then that evolved into the picture being really dark with four bright spots. Vizio replaced it fairly easily which was great, but now the replacement model just starts to flash white and black randomly and the only way to fix it is to power cycle.
It’s getting really annoying that I bought a TV that will need to be replaced for the second time in a year. My last TV was an LG that I never had a problem with, I just wanted to go bigger. I don’t think I’ll buy a Vizio ever again.

I'll admit that I'm an OLED TV snob - you can't beat it for colors that pop and deep, inky blacks. That said, OLED TVs are kinda pricey and not for everyone.
This Vizio LED TV isn't quite as good as OLED, but it really does have a great picture for the price difference. The discrete backlit zones work well in the areas that are off, but there is still a bit of light bleed for areas that are on. For example, when the TV boots up, there is a Vizio logo on a black screen. The area immediately around the logo is kinda gray but the rest of the screen is nice and black.
The on-screen menus are really nice and easy to use. The built-in casting and streaming options also make attaching an AppleTV or Roku kinda unnecessary.
My only small complaint is that the provided remote control's button labels are difficult to read in low light conditions. They are not backlit and the text is just a bit more difficult to read than it could be. Of course, you can use the phone app to control the TV instead, or even your voice, so this is really a minor complaint.
While this TV isn't incredibly thin (like some OLED models), it's about average. But the bezels are thin and the TV really looks sharp from the front even when off.
This TV is a great value for the features, picture quality and overall design.

Hello SHBLG, Thank you for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you are looking for. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition or 4K signal. This means making sure that you're source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD or 4K, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD or 4K picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture setting that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room try Vivid or Calibrated. If it’s in a dimmer room try Calibrated Dark. If still not working properly please contact our customer support at 877-878-4946 for assistance.

I bought this TV because it had decent reviews on RTINGS.com and digitaltrends.com because of contrast and its deep black levels. However there is no black level just all gray. Only black shows when seeing pictures of the movie in the TV apps. Bright images are also very hazy. Very slow to update and inputs didnt work right away. Im thinking the TV has to be defective. I'll be exchanging the TV but NOT for another Vizio. Truly disappointed.

Best 4K HDR Budget TV

Definitely a big electronics guy. Did plenty of research on all 4K TV’s. I came down to the TCL 65R617 and VIZIO P-Series 65”. The VIZIO is slightly more expensive, but I got mine over the 4th for the $1,100 deal. I have not reviewed audio for the TV as anyone who is looking g for a 65” 4K HDR tv and is somewhat interested in a decent product should already know they will need an external speaker source of some sort for decent audio. So far, I’ve tried Netflix UHD, Amazon Video 4K stream and a Apple TV 4K video stream. Picture quality is excellent and looks are great. Like I said this a budget 4K HDR picture so when you compare it to LG’s OLED or Samsung’s Q-Led 8 Series there is definitely a difference. But price is also very different. For what you get, I challenge you to find something better for the money. I use an Apple TV as an external source for video, so I’m not much help on Google’s Chromecast interface. VIZIO has built a full-array LED tv with all HDR available and priced it very reasonable. It’s worth fooling around with the picture settings to find what you personally think looks best. Very happy with my purchase.

High End Features and Picture for Less Money

I have two other Vizio TVs in my bedrooms (E and D series) and thought they had a very good picture. So when I needed a large TV in my basement, I added Vizio to the list of TVs I would consider. I'm glad I did. I also considered the LG SK9000, Samsung NU8000 and Q6F, and the Sony X900F. I have an X900E in my living room and it's a fantastic TV but the 'F' is way too expensive at this point in time for what you get.
That left the LG and the Samsungs along with Vizio. The LG had good color but the blacks were horrible. They looked gray and I read about horrible 'flashlighting' and 'banding' where there are halos around light objects on a dark background. No thanks. Too distracting. The Samsungs both had very good pictures but they were both edge-lit TVs (inferior tech to full-array backlighting) and don't support Dolby Vision HDR which is on many 4K Blu-Rays. And they were hundreds more.
That brought me back to the Vizio. Full-array backlighting meant great contrast. Over a billion colors. Low input lag for gaming. Very bright colors, bright whites, deep blacks mean it looks great for HDR viewing and gaming. And the TV itself is very stylish and attractive in a room. I coupled it with a Vizio sound bar and it looks and sounds fantastic. Playing on the Xbox One X and PS4 are a real treat now. And 4K Blu-Rays look fantastic too.
If you're looking for a great TV for HDR/4K gaming and Blu-Rays, take my advice and add this Vizio to the list. Why pay hundreds more when you can get a picture as good as if not better than the other companies and even get more features than some.

I researched my tail off before purchasing this TV. I looked at the Samsung 8000 & 9000 series, the TCL Series 6 and Sony 900. Because of the price and the features - I kept coming back to the Vizio P-Series.
CNET and other sites gave it high praise. However, I kept seeing customer reviews where they stated that they got a lemon of a set (dark spots in the corners was a common issue) with the 2018 Visio P-Series. Inspite of those reviews, I bought the P-Series.
I’ve had this TV for 4 months now ... and it’s the best TV I’ve ever owned. The picture is so clear with 1080 content ... and 4K content with HDR is unbelievable. It is not to the level of OLED ... but I only paid $1000 for a 65 inch screen where OLED’s at that size will cost double that. The remote is far more simplified and easier to use. We watch Netflix a ton and the movies we have streamed have been “glitch free”. The 4K movies look amazing - but our very good internet service may account for some of the stable video quality.
The Smartcast features and their included apps are easy to use and all my family need. It’s very easy to transition from watching cable to watching a movie on Netflix to casting a You Tube video through a cell phone.
Although the internal speakers were fine, we purchased a Yamaha 108 sound bar for $110... and that has been a perfect compliment to this TV. This is our primary TV in our Great Room ... and from sports, to shows, to movies - this TV and sound bar have surpassed our family’s needs and expectations
I’ve been fortunate as I’ve had nothing but good luck with Vizio TV’s (I’ve owned 3 now) ... and each has served me well... but I acknowledge that Vizio must have some quality control issues as there are so many people out there that have issues with all models of Vizio TV’s.
It’s a roll of the dice - but if you get one of the “good” Vizio P-Series ... you will not be disappointed in your purchase for the price paid

While this screen is not on the same level as my OLED it comes in pretty close for a traditional LCD LED. The 100 zones of local dimming really help the blacks. The factory setting is ok but with a little bit of tweaking this set can produce some nice vivd pictures.
The remote leaves a lot to be desired as does the sound. I paired this with the Vizio 5.1 sound bar to fix that.
All in all, this is a great set for the money.

The Vizio P65-F1 is a phenomenal tv at producing great visuals. The color accuracy, the black detail and brightness of the tv is second to none. Where the tv falls to 4 stars is with the smart features of the tv which are very lack luster. The speed of the smart features are very sluggish as if the processor is not capable of enough power. The speakers of the tv are very weak & I highly suggestion purchasing a sound bar. I do recommend this product if one follows the suggestions of purchasing a sound bar to accommodate the weak speakers as well as purchasing a media stick in replace of the smart features.

Some Early Glitches Yet to Be Worked Out

Unboxed it this week. Gorgeous picture when it's working correctly. Sadly when used at 120hz 1080p with a PC and then switching back to Netflix etc (60hz 4k) the picture is wrecked with vertical flashing lines across the screen. The TV has to be rebooted to make the glitch go away. Hopefully this kind of thing is a firmware fix and doesn't require a replacement unit.
It's disappointing that Vizio's main menu only tries to sell Vudu, Fandango and doesn't search Netflix and Amazon like my Roku TV does.
Lastly, the remote is horrible for watching TV with the lights off. I even put tape beside the volume button to try and orient where my hand is on the remote and it's still annoying to figure out if the remote is backwards or not.

Hello JovialJack, if you are having issues with the remote in a dark room this TV does come with the ability to be controlled from a smart device using the VIZIO SmartCast application. This allows you to control your television fully from a smart device that is connected to the same network as the TV. If you are still having issues with your picture please give our customer service a call at 877-878-4946 so that we can look into the issue for you.

TLDR: If you have around $1,000 to spend on a TV, you won't find a better TV. The Sony Bravia 950f (I think it is) would have been our next pick of we wanted to spend more.
Our old HD flat screen died so I did a lot of research, and all things pointed to this TV. The best part of this TV are both the price and the fact that it has back lighting with some 100 zones (I think). This makes the blacks much deeper in general. Sometimes there will be light halo effect around bright objects that are small, because the limited lighting zones. Truth is I never even notice it because the picture looks so good!
You have to double the price in Samsung to get even close in quality. Blueray looks fabulous. The HDR support on the PS4 really drives up the game quality (when available). Only difficulty is trying to find the perfect setup between my receiver (that seems to have some difficulty passing through HDR?), my Hopper, with its remote, and the TV to make it easy to switch between inputs.
Set up and installation was incredibly easy and straight forward. It does have virtually no bezel so moving it and unpacking it was a bit delicate. Once it was mounted on the wall, the rest was easy.
I am looking forward to a long beautiful life from this thing!

Picture quality is amazing. Great premium build quality. Setup and settings are easy. I've seen others complain about the Chromecast platform. I love it. Fast and responsive. Panel gets very bright and easy to watch during the day when it's bright in the living room. Only downside is the speakers are terrible. I don't expect amazing sound but they are so bad I couldn't even watch it without getting a soundbar.

I was warned against Vizio but still went with them because of the early reviews on the P65-F1 and really regretting it now. The picture quality was great before it started acting up and we were Initially very pleased. Vizio support was a joke the first time I tried them and after not hearing back in the time frame they gave me tried again and had a lot more success. It's still going to take them 3 weeks to get me a refund. Good luck to the gambling man.
Pros:
-Picture quality - granted your backlights keep working
-Games looked great
-Sleek design
-Small bezel
-Good amount of inputs
-Lots of configuration in the menus
Cons:
-Horrible speaks, could have saved the consumer some money and not bothered. You will need a sound bar or another type of external speaker.
-Can't add additional apps can only be cast to the tv.
-Backlighting stopped working after 17 days
-Vizio support is a lottery

Like many others, I did extensive research for a good 4K TV before pulling the trigger. I was a little leery about the Vizio brand and quality, as I typically consider Vizio to be more of a 2nd rate performer. But all the professional reviewers gave this TV high marks and comparable performance ratings to other much more expensive TV’s.
The picture on this TV is amazing...especially in 4K. I streamed Blue Planet II in 4K from Netflix, and my jaw almost high the floor with how vibrant, clear, and colorful everything looked.
Sports show well on this TV, with fairly crisp movements. You can adjust blue and judder in the setting. I have both set at 5, and it seems to work well.
As most reviewers say, the smart menus and speakers are not the strong suit of this TV. But I’m not sure anyone expects expansive sound from a thin TV. You need a sound bar or surround sound system...for every big TV these days. Hook up a Roku or other streaming player to get the best in that arena.
I am very pleased thus far with the $900 I spent on a 65 inch TV that is comparable to other TV’s that cost 50-100% more on price.
