Customers frequently mention the superb picture quality, vibrant colors, and smooth refresh rate as significant strengths of the 65" Class P-Series Quantum Series LED 4K UHD SmartCast TV. However, some users have reported issues with the HDMI 2.1 ports and SmartCast software needing improvement. Concerns have also been raised regarding the variable refresh rate (VRR) functionality and blooming. The price-to-performance ratio is frequently praised.

I got this TV on sale for $899, for that price I am reasonably happy. I would not be happy if I had spent $1200 on it. It's a very good TV, but in my opinion, it isn't worth over $1000. I have also noticed some sort of what looks like dark vertical bars that seem to match up with blank spaces on SmartCast home screen. It's not very noticeable, unless you are watching something where a solid color takes up large parts of the viewing area. SmartCast is perfectly fine. I have not had one issue with it. Seems to run as smooth as my Roku 4k stick and better than the OS on my 2 year old Samsung TV. The picture is very good, especially 4K and HDR (both Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ supported) and you can manipulate a lot of settings to adjust to your taste.

Family Nightmare

Is there a way to rate this no stars?! I have had two of these sets. The first set in the summer of 2020 was not sharp, lacked clarity, did not upscale content, had a blotchy backlight, and effectively did not appear to be high definition. Vizio replaced it with a second set.
The second set, too, is not as clear as the 2018 Vizio P Series that it replaced and exhibits the same issues as the first P65Q9-H1 set. Vizio sent out a tech to replace something in this second P65Q9-H1 set. After that repair, this second set sporadically loses sound, will not connect to the smart apps, gives a green screen at other times when it does connect to the apps, and at times will not power on. The solution most times is to attempt one or more hard restarts that involve unplugging the TV and holding the power button for thirty seconds or more, then plugging everything back in. I have contacted Vizio about this second set, but they have not been receptive to correcting the current issues. Look at the photos and tell me if this is what you'd expect from a set that cost a grand.
All I want is a TV that works in my family room. Instead I have a tv that provides nothing but problems followed by hours (yes hours) of online chats or phone calls that do not result in a resolution. As such, I have a tv that my children avoid. I finally had to move my smaller kitchen Samsung into the family room in order to bring the family back to that room. At this point, I will shell out money for a new family TV, and I guess that I have to eat this one. Yes, this has been a nightmare. The only other recourse I have is to let fellow consumers know that you are really rolling the dice when you purchase a Vizio.

So I replaced a TCL 6 series with this, and the picture is definitely a big step up overall. The HDR pops more on it too. It works great with the Xbox Series X so far, as the VRR works well with AC: Valhalla and the 120 Hz works great for 120 FPS on Dirt 5 and Gears 5 multiplayer for example.

Great TV picture, colors look amazing. This replaced a 10 year old Toshiba 55 inch and it isn't that much larger in size as far as how much space it takes up. I had some issues hooking up the TV to my receiver the first day then just quit messing with it. I'll go back and give it another try to get the HDMI running through my stereo to the tv and vice versa. Overall I am very happy with this product. Free tv channels like Pluto Tv and Tubi are pretty good, the ease of logging in to my pay services like netflix and prime was pretty seemless as well. This weekend I'll try and hook up the surround sound system again.

Input Specific Settings Are Amazig

4K picture is great. Fantastic color and contrast. The adaptive brightness is excellent and I never notice as it subtly changes to match the ambient lighting of the room. The one thing I did not expect, but love the most is that you can set specific picture settings for each input. And you don’t even have to tell the TV to remember them. For example, in my case, there is the ‘home’ input where you select your streaming services. I initially set that one to picture settings catered to TV/Movies. Later on, I plugged my Nintendo Switch into an HDMI input. I changed to that input and set the picture settings to a game friendly style. I am used to TV’s that have the picture settings stay as you last set them for the entirety of the inputs. So I was pleasantly surprised when I swapped back to ‘home’ and it automatically switched back to my Tv/Movie picture settings. It does this for every input and it is an absolute joy.

The image quality on this tv is amazing. Fully Color Vivid and the tv size adds to the experience. The volume on the tv is pretty loud but I suggest a surround sound. The apps on the tv glitch from time to time and sometimes the tv responds slow.

Very solid TV for the money. Black levels are excellent, local dimming is effective (blooming kept to a minimum and virtually non existent in real world viewing), brightness and color are all great with very little adjustment required - HDR and Dolby Vision content look spectacular.
I haven't tested the gaming HDMI features, but the only actual complaint I have is with motion. It can be a tiny bit juddery at times, though for 95% of content I don't notice any issues at all. Occasionally when movies having panning, I'll notice it - but not something I would say is a deal breaker.

I originally purchased this TV for next generation gaming hobbies. I looked for the affordable yet performance capable brands and what lead me back to Vizio once again was the P-Series. Hear me out.
Cost - $$ out of $$$
The first thing that grabs any consumer is the price point, in this case I had to purchase a surround sound system in addition with the TV. The reason why is because it hits the requirements of the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 performances.
Quality - *** out of ****
The visual fidelity if very good for this series. at 120 Hz refresh rate, you get optimal performance at high speed with low latency. Resolution pops at a crisp 4K 2160p. The quantum LED panels push the HDR to the limits. I really like it, played Spiderman and High performance Mode is Surreal, no frame rate issues, pop ins or issues.
Summary - If you are looking for a gaming TV, look no further, most technologies don't even provide 120hz quality beside PC and Next Gen gaming consoles.
Review Score - 4.0 Out of 5.

This is the nicest TV I ever owned. It checks all the boxes on my Xbox series X. This is the smaller of the P-Series televisions and the 65-in is pretty massive.Black levels are really good for an LCD TV and the HDR is a treat. I have this paired with a 5.1.2 surround system, and it feels extravagant.

VIZIO P-Series Surprise

I've had the TV for a couple of weeks and am very happy with it. My first choice was the LG NANO 90 Series 65" with the VIZIO third or fourth on my depth chart. I found the VIZIO in the open box section (returned due to a sizing error) for $500. The new version was on sale for $999 and the LG was $1199 so this was a "no brainer". Installation on my existing wall mount was the only issue I had which wasn't too bad. Otherwise set up was a breeze. The color required some adjusting (way too bright) but was taken care of in a matter of minutes. This is my first smart TV so I was easily impressed with all the apps. The picture is amazing compared to my 8 year old LG that it replaced. Because it was an open box special, I purchased the 5 year warranty for $120 (well worth it) and was informed that it covers replacement up to the full retail price. The more I use it the more impressed I get with the VIZIO brand and I had my doubts. So much so that I actually recommended this TV to a few friends. I'm pleasantly surprised!

I had a Samsung RU8000 that I had purchased a month ago. Well. The Samsung has many pros(tizen menu, color and picture on HD (1080p) and remote. But the HDR was terrible. So I was able to take back the Samsung and trade it in on the vizio. After doing a lot of research, this tv checked all the HDR check boxes. The picture can be quite amazing at times. I have had good luck with vizio, surprisingly, as I know many who haven’t. Overall I’m happy with it!

The Vizio P65Q9-H1 is a wonderful TV! It wasn't my first pick when I went to Best Buy. But, after talking to an associate and learning about all the technology that it comes with, including HDMI 2.1 and a game mode, I went ahead and bought it to pair with my PS5. At 65" it's a big TV with tiny bezels so I had to be careful how I handled it. It has an awesome 4k picture quality. You can also adjust the picture quality to your liking. I really like that it autodetects my devices via HDMI. I have a receiver and a PS5 hooked up to it. The TV was easy to wall-mount over my fireplace with the built in wall-mount holes. I also like the contrast on this TV. As bright as the TV gets, dark scenes still look dark without the graying effect. Colors are vibrant and can also be adjusted via the menu. Smartcast, the TV's app ecosystem, is easy to navigate and has a ton of apps to watch. It even has free-to-watch apps! Overall, my experience has been positive, no regrets.

The most important thing is the picture quality, and it looks beautiful. It's definitely a step up from my 2018 Vizio P series. Colors are vibrant and it gets plenty bright. I have had some trouble adjusting the image on hdmi inputs though. Many of the options are greyed out, and I can't adjust them, like color and contrast. If I switch to Smarcast input I can then adjust things just fine, but I found that odd so I subtracted a star for the review.

The vizio p series is a great looking 4k tv . Blacks are super inky and colors really pop. This TVs should be one of the best on the market given it’s great performance be it sdr or hdr but it has a few things that hold it back . Gaming features work for the most part but vrr can cause a strange flicker at 120hz. It’s not that bad but noticeable . To get the best gaming experience turn off auto low latency mode because for some reason it isn’t as smooth. Also I had a few issues of earc not wanting to connect to my sound system every time. For the most part the tv is fantastic and it’s great contrast and hdr performance can look phenomenal you just gotta be willing to deal with a few bugs. SmartCast is also getting better and offers most big name apps. With a little work Vizio could make the p series one of the best values on the market

Obviously not as snappy as a 1ms delay PC Monitor, but it's still a very very solid choice for gaming on the big screen (that's what I use it for). Just remember to set the tv display to game mode for a higher refresh rate. The only issue I have is with the TVs software, when I turn on a device connected to hdmi, it doesn't automatically ask to go to that input. In addition, apps like Amazon Prime Video Literally Crash every time when trying to start... Maybe they'll fix that in a future update?

So far thoroughly enjoying this TV, coming from a 2016 Vizio P50-C1 the HDR content is enhanced and the overall color and brightness looks nicer in our bright living room. I don’t have any sources to test hdmi 2.1 yet. Up scaling works very well. Only gripe so far is some dark scenes the backlighting seems to not be able to make up its mind sometimes. With the on sale price I think this is a great choice.

Arguably the best performance for price in its class. 4K HDR picture quality is outstanding, and 1080P SDR is nicely upscaled. Motion is well handled with no judder or stutter evident on native apps. Confirmed 4 HDMI 2.1 inputs with full 48Gbps bandwidth and VRR, ALLM and 4K 120fps gaming capabilities on XBOX series X.
Out of box color accuracy is good and color volume and gamut are excellent. Panel uniformity is decent with only minor vignetting on the edges/corners and some vertical banding center screen when displaying grayscale slides (neither of which is noticeable during normal viewing). Contrast, black levels and brightness are all great. Local dimming works well producing only occasional, minor blooming/haloing effects in pitch black environment when displaying bright HDR scenes and virtually none with SDR images.
Vizio's Smartcast OS is responsive and smooth, although it doesn't feature popular apps like HBO Max or Discovery Plus or any way to add them. The OS has yet to crash or even stutter after nearly 2 weeks of extensive use and have experienced no issues with HDMI device discovery or CEC functionality. The TV's audio is adequate, but the viewing experience is greatly enhanced with external speakers.
When comparing the P-series' performance and feature set against other televisions in its price class, the PQ9 currently offers the best value of any display under $1,000.

Works as expected. It has freeze ups when hooking up to Xbox series x have to unplug from wall and try numerous times. But once all syncs together the picture is fantastic and the Xbox reports all the high end features are available a little frustrating but it could be firmware on either unit so I just deal with it there was not many hdmi 2.1 to pick from and this tv is only used with the Xbox so I the price was right in the ballpark and it keeps the wife happy because I’m not on the living room big screen with the game stopping her from watching her show on the other Visio tv I’m sure in time either one will get the firmware correct. But right now the tv is great it runs the picture butter smooth and is very crisp
