My first question when looking at this product was what makes it different then your normal range finder? What justifies the extra cost? Mostly it is the GPS functionality.
1. This doesn’t require any membership, subscription, downloading of maps, pairing to cell phone, or anything. You just simply take the Rangefinder to your golf course and when you arrive on your first tee of the day you press the left icon for golf mode (green circle with a ball on a tee) on the OLED and it will take a few minutes for it to locate where you are in the world and it automatically shows you the course layout, how far out the bunkers/water/others are, where water is, where your driver (assuming you know your distance) is likely to land with a good hit. Once you get on the green (assuming your course supports this) it will also show you a reading of the green. It autorotates for you. You can manually put where the pin and where your ball is based on the GPS location of the Range Finder. If it doesn’t switch automatically to the green you can swipe right to get it there. Or to go back to see the entire hole. Basically, it is like having an app on your watch or cell phone, but it is on the range finder itself. Which I found to be a bit more convenient. As that way I can also double check manually with the range finder function.
2. Based on GPS it will also tell you how far away you are from the green (I’m assuming center of green as I’m not sure how it would know the flag location). Without even having to look down the Range Finder. However, you can at any time use the range finder to manually check ranges. I found the GPS to be very accurate along with the range finder. So, mostly I just looked down at the OLED screen quickly to see how far away I was and then could grab my club. Took like 2 seconds to pull it out of pocket, look at screen, put it away. Which dramatically improved my game. As my shots were right on. Also, helped me zone in on my distances and the correct clubs.
3. This is my favorite feature. When on the tee box you can press a black arrow button on the display, which will mark your current location. Then when you start driving down the range it will measure how far away you are. Making it so you can tell exactly how far your drive or other hits were (assuming you manually reset it each time). This makes a more exact measurement then looking back at the tee box or your previous hit with the range finder.
4. Speaking of the range finder. It has a very clear red overlay. 6x scope which is very clear, and you can adjust how clear it is on the device. It will also show you slope (by saying + or – a certain yardage) along with showing the actual distance incorporating the slope AND the distance not incorporating the slope. Giving you all the info you need. I think you can also turn off that feature to be more simple if you’d like (didn’t confirm but thought I saw it mentioned).
5. It has two functions for finding the flag via the range finder. One with assistance of GPS. Which I found to take longer to actually find the flag along with needing to do it multiple times. With the GPS flag function off it found the flag easier and just told me the distance. I suppose one thing to look up would be if by using the GPS function if it then adjusts the flag position when you get to the green automatically?
6. You can change the brightness of the screen by pressing the brightness button on top.
7. It has a built-in rechargeable battery. I found it lasts about two rounds (36 holes) for me. But others are saying about 18 before recharge. Which means if you forget to charge, hopefully your cart has a charger, and you brought the USB-C charging cord. I found charging to be relatively quick. But didn’t investigate that a lot.
8. It has a bunch of settings that you can toggle to make it as advanced or basic as you want.
9. If you are worried about accidentally pressing the OLED display when stored or in your pocket don’t. As it has an auto lock feature which turns on quickly (maybe 2 – 3 seconds). Simply press the lock to unlock it.
10. Looks extremely sleek. Is lightweight. Good build quality.
11. I also just happened to be out when it was raining/misting the entire time I was out. I never had any issues with the glass or display getting horribly wet or blurry. As those things are quite recessed which is nice. I’m not sure how waterproof it is. But it came out of it like a champ.
CONS:
- Doesn’t have a magnet function.
- Because it is lightweight and mostly feels like it is made of plastic it can come across as cheap feeling.
- Rechargeable battery means no quick swapping if it is dead.
- Touch screen is responsive. But could be better. As sometimes it wouldn’t register my touch.
- No way to track score on the device. Which I don’t mind but wanted to mention.
Overall, this thing is awesome. I like it a lot. I suck at golf and its already improved my game a lot. It has allowed me to speed up my play as I don’t have to look for markers to see how far out I am. It allows me to have a better understanding of how far I’m hitting my clubs and their distances as I can manually check. Which is also fun to play the game of how far everyone is hitting. It gives me a heads up on possible hazards to avoid. And it helps those I’m golfing with have the same benefits by sharing the information. I found the GPS function to be very beneficial and accurate. Where honestly, I rarely used the actual range finder function due to that. But the range finder also works wonderfully. It looks very professional and sleek. The holder just slides into your belt loop and is very attractive as well.

Normally, I golf about twice a week and frequently take golf trips to other out-of-state courses. For the past week, I've been testing the Voice Caddie SL3 Rangefinder..
The Voice Caddie SL3 features top-notch build quality. As soon as I felt it in my hand I could immediately tell that I was holding premium technology. The compact size fits in my hand well and the viewfinder offers excellent clarity. The SL3 is made of metal and it is wrapped in black leather. It also came with a carabiner and white leather pouch. The Carabiner was probably the least premium feature of this product. When I attached it to the golf cart with the carbineer, it was bouncing around and I felt like it could easily break. I would have preferred to have magnets or another method for keeping it attached to the cart.
Setting it up was a learning experience. I had to read the booklet and look up some how-to videos online, but eventually I figured out how to use it. Using the app, I was easily able to find and download my local golf course maps without any additional cost. It features built-in GPS and a laser for determining my position and distance to the flag. I love that it gives me both the slope distance as well as the actual distance, while taking into account if the green is elevated or below the tee box. The OLED touch screen is vibrant and easily visible on sunny days. However, it sometimes was not very responsive. There were a few occasions when I had to keep tapping the golf icon to get it to go into golf mode. But, I am sure this would be fixed in an update.
With that said, This is the most advanced and accurate rangefinder I have ever used. Overall I love it and would recommend it.

VoiceCaddie SL3 Hybrid - My new secret golf weapon

As an avid golfer I’m always looking for ways to improve my game and ultimately scoring better. The VoiceCaddie SL3 is like having a really smart local caddie who can provide course knowledge like distances, hazards and overall lay of the land in the fairways and on the green. What sets the SL3 apart from many of its competitors is that it provides two gadgets in a single device. There is the laser range finder mode, simply point it at the flag or a tree to know exactly how far it is. If additional course information is needed, turn on the GPS mode and the SL3 provides a map of the hole and tells you distances to important spots along the way, like sand traps, water hazards and how far to the pin.
Unboxing & Set Up:
The VoiceCaddie SL3 came well packaged and includes the rangefinder, a leather carrying case, a USB-C charging cable, cleaning cloth and a user’s manual. There’s also a VoiceCaddie app available, although the user’s manual does not call it out or provide any details. I came across it trying to find the list of supported golf course. I would definitely recommend downloading the app as it provided an update to the software on the SL3 device and also prompted me to update the list of supported courses. Outside of that it provides hole descriptions for the course being played, setting the distance unit measure, an electronic version of the user’s manual and a supported course list based on GPS location. It seems a bit daunting on first pass, but really it sets up easily and is ready to use within minutes.
The SL3 itself feels like a range finder that was put in a time machine as its aesthetics are a bit on the vintage side with a metal case wrapped in leather. The overall build quality is top-notch, and it feels sturdy yet not too heavy in hand. The included case is more on the modern side in white leather with red graphics, a magnetic closure, and a carabiner for connecting it to your bag or the golfcart.
Operation:
For the laser range finder mode, just turn the SL3 on by hitting the well positioned power button on top of the device and aim it at the flag or any other object. Hold the power button until the laser locks on its target, with a little haptic notice, the laser locks and provides the distance to that target. There is a slope feature which can be toggled on/off, but due to the hilly nature of the course in my area, I use the slope adjustment. Once locked on, the SL3 will provide the actual yardage to the object as well as the slope-adjusted yardage based on whether you are hitting up or downhill.
The brightness is adjustable by clicking the “sun” button next to the power button on top of the device. Even in total sunshine, the display is easy to read at any of the brightness settings. Overall, the SL3 seemed to be very quick to lock on the target and provided accurate yardages. There also the ability to magnify the view by 6X with the adjustable viewfinder.
The GPS mode is very similar to what some golfcarts at higher end courses provide. It’s like having Google Maps for the course you’re playing. To access the GPS mode, there is a small LCD touchscreen on the frontside of the SL3. You heard that right, there is a touchscreen display built into the SL3. When powered on there is an option for settings and for golf mode. Settings provides a demo mode, language and measurement selection, and an “about” page for software version, etc.
To get the course information, toggle into the “golf mode” and the GPS satellite will connect and provide courses in the area. Select the course being played and step into the tee box area to get started. The options available are:
- Course View: See the whole hole from above. Like a bird’s-eye view.
- Green View: Know how far to the front, middle, and back of the green.
- Putt View: Helps you read the greens (like a golf whisperer).
- Yardage View: Shows key distances.
- Flyover: Get a cool flyover view of the hole. Pretend you’re in a golf video game.
The GPS mode is fantastic for courses that you haven’t played before as it provides so much detailed information about the fairway, hazards, and the putting surface. Again, it’s like having that local caddie providing course secrets. As you begin to play the hole, the GPS will automatically reset your position and show the updated yardages to certain points. For putting, the SL3 provides green undulation and distances which again are such a plus on a course that isn’t played often.
Pros:
- Dual Functionality of a laser range finder and GPS yardages and views
- Easy to use – simply point and click for yardage
- Pin Tracer Mode – ideal for flags with trees or obstacles behind them
- Well-built and a cool vintage feel aesthetically
- Leather carry pouch for protection on the course
- GPS course and hole overview is a game changer
- 6X lens magnification for those long par 5 holes
- Quick battery recharge with standard USB-C cable
- No subscription fees to use, and the course list is updated regularly
Cons:
- Not all courses are included in the GPS Golf Mode – my local course is not supported
- Bit pricier than some options, but you get 2 devices in one with the SL3
Overall Impressions:
The VoiceCaddie SL3 is a remarkable golf rangefinder that seamlessly combines laser accuracy with GPS functionality. Golfers seeking precision and accuracy will appreciate its strategic course planning features. It won’t fix your slice, but it’ll definitely help you pick the right club. I would recommend the SL3 to any golfer looking to improve their game and scoring.

I recently upgraded my rangefinder to the VoiceCaddie SL3 True Hybrid GPS and Laser Range Finder with Dual Color OLED, and let me say, I was very impressed. As an avid golfer and tech nerd who is always on the lookout for the latest and greatest in golf tech to improve my game, this device exceeded my expectations.
When it comes to looks and design the VoiceCaddie SL3 its hands down is one of the best looking rangefinder on the market, if not the best. So many other rangefinders out there look like they were made by a power tool company, but with the VoiceCaddie, it comes off as an luxurious and elegant pair of binoculars with its faux leather material wrapping around the middle and silver brushed metal. The rangefinder is lightweight, compact, and is ergonomically designed, making it very comfortable to hold and easy to use, for a whole round. It also comes with a nice leather carrying pouch to store it in.
First and foremost, the dual functionality of this device sets it apart from many others on the market. The GPS feature provides accurate distances to the front, middle, and back of the green, as well as hazards and other key landmarks on the course and has a heatmap for the greens and where it breaks. The laser range finder offers pinpoint accuracy when it comes to measuring distances to specific targets or objects on the course. Having both options at my fingertips allowed me to choose the best club for the situation. I've noticed with some of the other high end range finders on the market, they will make you pay a subscription service fee in order to use the GPS feature, but with the VoiceCaddie there is no Subscription fee necessary. Simply select the Golf logo on the LCD screen and walk up to the hole and the GPD satellite will pinpoint where you are. I recommend pressing the golf button a little before you tee off, because it can take a couple of minutes for it to triangulate on your location and you don't want to hold up your group waiting for your range finder to find your location.
The Dual Color OLED display is the standout feature of the SL3. The high-resolution screen is easy to read in various lighting conditions, including bright sunlight, which is sometimes often a challenge with the other devices on the market. The color-coded display makes it simple to quickly identify distances and hazards, ensuring that I could make informed decisions. The touch screen is not the most intuitive design in navigating the different pages of information on the holes but I realize that is due to the size of the screen, and I highly recommend reading the instructions that come with the rangefinder. The Range finder scope was so spot on with its distances and compared to my friends finders theirs were all just a tad off on the distance, so that was a nice little win on the course. So, In terms of performance, the VoiceCaddie SL3 delivered consistent and reliable results throughout my rounds. The GPS and laser range finder was both accurate and responsive, providing me with the information I needed to slightly improve my game and hopefully make smarter shot selections.
Pros:
Dual functionality with GPS and laser range finder.
High-resolution Dual Color OLED touch display.
Lightweight, compact, and ergonomic design.
User-friendly interface.
No subscription fee for GPS.
Accurate and reliable performance.
Cons:
May be considered pricey for some golfers.
GPS drains the battery life.
Some users may prefer a larger display for easier reading.
LCD screen navigation is cumbersome and not snappy in response time.
Overall, the VoiceCaddie SL3 True Hybrid GPS and Laser Range Finder with Dual Color OLED is a game-changing device for those who want to elevate their game. Its dual functionality, OLED display, user-friendly design, no subscription fee and reliable performance make it a must-have addition to anyone's golf bag.

GPS and Laser In One Pkg - Great Perf and Accuracy

The VoiceCaddie SL3 brings together your traditional golf range finder with GPS functionality. It’s like if you stuck your laser with a watch GPS all in one platform. This sounds like a pretty good idea – eliminate the need for multiple devices is usually welcome plan. I am an avid golfer that plays just over scratch handicap , and I typically play twice a week. I received the VoiceCaddie SL3 about 10 days ago, and I have been able to put a range session and a round in. Unfortunately spring weather has rained out some of my opportunities, but I used it extensively during my round. I have plenty of experience with both rangefinders and golf GPS’s. I used to use a Bushnell V4 with slope before giving it to my brother to use. Most recently I have been regularly using my SkyCaddie SX500 for rounds. My playing partners use a Nikon Coolshot Pro, a Bluetees finder, and a Garmin Approach S6 watch.
Opening up the SL3 from its box you are greeted by a sleek white leather carrying pouch. The pouch has a belt loop and carabiner, but no magnet mount. The pouch uses magnets to keep it closed, so not noisy Velcro to eventually wear out. The SL3 itself is looks incredibly nice – it has a mostly plastic construction, but you wouldn’t know it until you picked it up. I initially expected it to have a little heft, but every bit that looks to be metal just has a really nice plastic stand in. The only part that appears to be metal is the view finder eye piece. The sides of the range finder are a faux-rubber vinyl that adds to the premium look while adding grip. The overall shape of the range finder is pretty traditional – it looks and feels like one.
The viewfinder for this device works just like in any other rangefinder. The internal screen is an OLED with an adjustable brightness via a button on top of the SL3. There are 6 levels that you can adjust it through depending on your preference. Briefly pressing the measurement button gives a quick distance to whatever feature you are looking at. Pressing and holding lets it scan for the pin, and it will vibrate when it catches the pin. The measurements were
Beneath the viewfinder is a Ø1” LCD screen that functions as your interaction point for the GPS features. The screen turns on upon touching the power button on the top of the SL3’s body. The screen locks itself after a brief period of inactivity, but unlocking it just requires touching the lock symbol. There are 3 initial options from this screen – starting a round (ball on a tee symbol), settings (gear symbol), or turning off the display (swipe down gesture, and selecting off). Inside the settings you can configure the lock, Bluetooth, language, and golf options. The golf options menu is where you really set everything up – units used, slope, GPS pin assist, V.AI, and Night Mode, and Driver Distance. I had to somewhat dig around to found out what all of these options did. Units is self-explanatory. Driver distance feeds into the hole display by showing the initial landing distance in an arc across the hole layout. Slope is a simple on/off toggle, which is enough to remain compliant with USGA tournament rules regarding DMD’s (distance measuring devices). With slope turned on you now get 2 distances shown through the viewfinder – actual distance (shown on the bottom), and slope adjusted distance shown at the top of the viewfinder screen. Night mode increases the brightness on all screens if you are playing a round at night on a lit course. GPS pin assist uses GPS data to block out features beyond the green to help get a more accurate lock on the pin. V.AI is the one feature I didn’t find a great explanation for, but it appears to use shot path data to better estimate expected shot distance.
With regards to the slope setting and usage in sanctioned tournaments the SL3 is compliant. This is a software enabled on/off switch unlike some rangefinders that have a physical accessory that blocks the slope function, or an external physical switch to toggle the modes. I had a Bushnell Tour V4 with the slope plate, which showed a physical difference on the device when in slope mode. The SL3 does have a bright flashing red light the goes on for 30s to a minute to indicate if the slope setting has been changed. It really goes to the honor system I guess. The other features like the green undulation maps are also USGA compliant, so there’s no issue there.
With all of this in mind using the SL3 on the course was pretty straightforward. Getting ready in the parking lot I turned the SL3 and selected the Golf Mode. From there it starts to scan for GPS signal, which took a few minutes to get it connected. This was fairly similar to my experience using my SkyCaddie and my playing partner using his GPS watch. Once it was connected it recognized the course I was at, I OK’d it, and it told me to approach the tee box. I actually had to get all the way to the 1st tee before it showed me the hole view. I tried approaching the 10th tee because we start on the back sometimes – it would not start up the hole view. I had to start walking down the hole before the hole view kicked on. I think its just a matter of where the GPS data says the hole starts, and it wants to start on the 1st hole. It would be nice to have a 10th hole start option, but it automatically corrects itself. Mid round I turned off the golf mode, and I restarted it. It found the course again and jumped me to the hole I was on, so no need to change holes or anything. However, if you need to change holes for whatever reason, you swipe up to go the settings and select “Change Hole.”
Performance of the SL3 was really solid. I could snag a reading in a half second. I used it in conjunction with my SkyCaddie, and I checked measurements against my playing partners devices. My SkyCaddie has really accurate GPS data, and the guy in my group with the Nikon Coolshot Pro has a pretty fast laser with slope. I found I had the most accurate long distance measuring and it was a smidge faster than the other lasers. I was able to snag a pin from 380 yards in about 2-3 seconds with a pretty shaky hand. I struggled to do this with the Nikon, and was not doable with the BlueTees scope. Inside 150 yards I had a measurement in a second. The GPS readout was accurate as well in comparison to my SkyCaddie. The smaller screen is certainly less user friendly than a large display GPS, but I would say its on par with people that use GPS watches. The info shown on the display was pretty helpful, especially the green undulation data. I am pretty familiar with the greens on my home course so checking out what it said matched up pretty well with how the greens are sloped. I can see this being a real benefit on a new course. Undulating greens with multiple tiers pose a real challenge if you don’t know they are there.
Using the hole layout you can select different points to measure and plan your shots. Zooming in to see finer detail and see what distance your following shot will have is pretty standard on GPS’s. You can measure your shot length manually to better gap your clubs. A feature, which I had previously only seen on my SkyCaddie, is a dynamic hole view. The little view of the green rotates to match your line of approach, and your distances to the front/back adjust as you move around the green. You can also move the pin icon around the green to get a more accurate GPS distance, but with the laser you really don’t need to do that much in practice.
The SL3 combines a laser and GPS, and manages to do it in way that leverages the strengths of each measuring method. The construction looks and feels worth the price of admission. The laser was super fast and accurate, and very reliable. The slope readout is great to have and it came in handy on the holes with decent elevation changes. No more guessing if it’s a half or full club difference like I would when I only had my GPS. The GPS really comes into handy on blind shots where the laser won’t work. It’s the main reason I went with the GPS over the laser 2 years ago. I had no desire to keep 2 devices for measuring, which was why I gave my brother my Bushnell V4. Now I’m going to be faced the decision to keep my SkyCaddie now that both GPS and Laser are together in one package.

I love to golf however I am never any good at it and wanted to try my hands on something that will provide some details of the hole I am playing on. I decided to try out this VoiceCaddie to see if that will aid in my performance. I am so glad I did! This VoiceCaddie was a lifesaver, I am now able to properly understand the slop, banks and distance. The best part was the putt view, I always have trouble and using this gave me great insights! The setup on this device was pretty easy, just turn it on and its ready to go. There is a "golf mode" that makes things super easy and seemless. You can always manually adjust settings however while golfing I found myself just using golf mode for easier and quicker reference. The LCD screen is very clear and easy to read when out on a sunny day. I also like how light weight it is and the carry case it comes with for being out all day on the golf fields. Speaking of being out all day, I was very impressed with the battery! I had no issue using it multiple times and multiple days, having long lasting batteries. There is so much information displayed not only on the LCD screen but also the viewfinder as well. The simplistic and long lasting battery makes this a must have for any golfer!

The Voice Caddie SL3 arrived nicely packaged and ready to use. It's a standout in the world of all-in-one distance measuring devices.
It looks elegant, a piece of artwork. Even the white pouch looks clean and stylish.
On top of all that, it seamlessly integrates both laser and GPS technologies, providing us golfers with a distinct information advantage on the course. Let me explain further:
The SL3 is incredibly easy to use. The instructions are easy to understand.
The rangefinder operates easily. Press the power button to activate the aiming reticle and get the distance.
It has a Pin Tracer mode, ideal for flagsticks with trees behind them. It is activated by holding down the power button.
The display is clear, red, and adjustable across six brightness levels, numbered within the viewfinder.
The Slope adjustment can be toggled on or off via the touchscreen.
The SL3’s laser rangefinder is impressively accurate. It delivers yardages swiftly, taking a second to provide the distance.
The Pin Tracer mode works as fast or even faster than similar functions in other devices.
The 6X magnification lens ensures precise targeting, even from long distances.
Regarding the GPS features, the SL3 sets itself apart from all others. The magic lies in the SL3’s GPS capabilities, like course view:
It provides a bird’s-eye view of the entire hole (or the green once you’ve advanced).
It displays an arc at your chosen driving distance.
With one tap on the screen, it gives you yardages to specific points, and a flyover view is available.
The Green View shows distances to the front, middle, and back of the green.
Best of all, it is practical and straightforward.
As for the Putt View, it offers elevation and distance measurements for reading greens effectively.
It also has a yardage view on the display, showing distances to critical points on the hole.
The GPS system provides undulation data, helping me read greens more accurately.
And the SL3 gives me a better understanding of the terrain and slopes.
Overall, the Voice Caddie SL3 is in a league of its own for golfers seeking precision and accuracy. Whether using the laser rangefinder or exploring the detailed GPS features, this device delivers every time. It’s the best of both worlds, combining technology for a better game. I enjoy the accuracy it gives me on the course.

Great integrated rangefinder, needs magnetic mount

Summary - This is a great option for the golfer who wants the convenience of having a GPS rangefinder combined with a laser rangefinder for precise accuracy. Unfortunately, it suffers from a lack of mounting and carrying options because the belt clip case is too big and stiff to be effectively used and it should have a magnetic "bite" mount option instead. Also, the GPS course coverage is not as comprehensive as other options out there, so check the manufacturer's website (which is hard to navigate and search) for your local area courses first.
I've used this rangefinder for two rounds at two different courses and found the overall GPS/laser accuracy to be on point with my software-based GPS tracking and the on-course markings. This is my first laser rangefinder and as such, I'm still developing the proper technique to hold the rangefinder steady enough to get an accurate "lock" on the target. The integrated GPS and LCD display serve as a good tool to "check" your measurement with the laser, or in situations where you don't have line of sight or can't get a lock on an object to measure distance to hazards. It would have been nice to have an electronic scorecard built into the device's software. The screen is also small and difficult to navigate the touch points and swipes if you have big fingers.
The two downsides to this device and the reason I gave this three stars instead of four is purely ergonomics. It comes with a leather-like carrying pouch with an integrated belt loop. The leather is stiff which makes taking the rangefinder in and out of the case a clumsy affair. I was constantly worried I would drop the device when taking it in and out. It's also quite slippery with the metal and faux-leather texture on the device itself. The ergonomics of wearing it on my belt didn't work well for my or my body type. Keeping it in the case in the cart is an equally clumsy affair. It really needs a strong magnetic mount included in the device or the case to allow for mounting it to the cart rail.

**Design and Build Quality**
The SL3 boasts a sleek, ergonomic design that fits comfortably in the hand. Its compact form factor does not compromise on durability; the device feels sturdy, capable of withstanding the typical rigors of a dynamic environment like a golf course. The attention to detail in the design, from the easy-to-navigate buttons to the high-quality finish, indicates a product built to last.
**Dual Color OLED Display**
One of the standout features of the SL3 is its Dual Color OLED display. This high-resolution screen is bright and easily readable under any lighting conditions, which is crucial for outdoor use. The color differentiation enhances the visual layout of the course, making it easy to distinguish various elements at a glance. Whether it’s sunny or overcast, the SL3’s display remains clear.
**GPS and Laser Hybrid Technology**
The hybrid technology combines the best of GPS and laser rangefinders. The GPS provides a comprehensive view of the course layout, offering data like distance to the front, center, and back of the green. Meanwhile, the laser rangefinder allows for pinpoint accuracy when measuring the distance to a specific target, such as the flagstick. This dual approach ensures that golfers have all the information they need to make the best shot possible.
**Course Layout and Undulation**
Understanding the course layout and terrain undulation is critical for any golfer, and the SL3 excels in providing this information. The course layout feature visually represents the hole, giving insights into hazards, bends, and the general shape of the green. The undulation feature is particularly impressive, offering elevation data that can drastically influence club selection and shot strategy. This level of detail can help even seasoned golfers discover new approaches to familiar courses.
**Pin Tracer Technology**
The SL3’s Pin Tracer technology is a standout feature that enhances the golfer's ability to track the flag from a distance. This technology ensures that you can easily locate and focus on the pin, regardless of background clutter or environmental conditions. The precision with which this feature operates is remarkable, providing confidence even when making long-range shots.
**Battery Life and Portability**
Despite its powerful features, the SL3 does not compromise on battery life. It can comfortably last through multiple rounds, ensuring that golfers won’t have to worry about running out of power mid-round. Additionally, the device is light and easy to carry around the course, which is an often-overlooked aspect of rangefinders.
**User Interface and Ease of Use**
The SL3 is surprisingly easy to use. Navigating through the various features is intuitive, making it accessible even for those who are not tech-savvy. The quick start guide is clear, and most users will be able to use the device without constantly referring to the manual. This ease of use extends to the actual application on the course, where speed and efficiency in obtaining measurements can enhance the golfing experience.
**Accuracy and Reliability**
Accuracy is where the SL3 truly shines. The combination of GPS and laser technologies allows for highly accurate readings that are consistent and reliable. This accuracy extends across all types of measurements, whether it's the distance to the pin, hazards, or the undulation of the green. The consistency of this accuracy across different courses and conditions demonstrates the device's reliability.
**Overall Experience and Conclusion**
The VoiceCaddy SL3 TrueHybrid GPS and Laser Rangefinder is a top-of-the-line device that meets the needs of all golfers, from amateurs to professionals. It enhances the golfing experience by providing detailed insights into the course, which not only aids in shot selection but also in understanding and strategizing the game better.
The integration of advanced technologies like Dual Color OLED, GPS, laser rangefinder, and undulation information into a single, user-friendly device makes the SL3 a must-have for any golfer looking to improve their game. Its durability, coupled with excellent battery life and ease of use, ensures that it is an investment that will pay dividends on the golf course.
In conclusion, I highly recommend the VoiceCaddy SL3 TrueHybrid GPS and Laser Rangefinder. It is a great blend of technology and practicality, designed to elevate the golfing experience. With its unparalleled accuracy, detailed course insights, and robust build, the SL3 deserves nothing less than a five-star rating.

The Voice Caddie SL3 Is As Good As It Gets!

I was somewhat skeptical about the Voice Caddie SL3 when I saw what the device claimed to be able to do. No other range finder on the market comes close to providing all of the information the SL3 range finder says it does. So I was very excited to receive the device for testing and review.
The Voice Caddie SL3 Range Finder came nicely packaged in a snazzy white with red lettered leather case with a small lightweight caribiner and belt loop for hanging off your belt or golf bag. The range finder itself is not magnetic for hanging on the cart metal. A USB-C cord came packaged with the device for recharging. The Vocie Caddie SL3 is a True Hybrid GPS and Laser Range Finder with Dual Color OLED screen, Course layout Undulation/Slope and Pin Tracer Technology. The outer case of the range finder is black and silver in color.
No external batteries can be used with this Voice Caddie so I was somewhat concerned about how long the range finder could be used on a single charge of it's lithium ion battery. I was pleasantly surprised to find in the manual that it can be used for up to 45 hours before a recharge is required and only takes 90 minutes to fully recharge the unit.
Useability is somewhat difficult at first as so much capability is built into the SL3. After using the range finder several times, I found it easy to access all the features. Like anything, the more you use it the more familiar it becomes. There is an app for the Voice Caddie but you won't really need it much except to update golf courses and course views.
I was somewhat concerned about the price of the Voice Caddle SL3 (which is considerably higher than most range finders) until I used it and saw what its capabilities are. Distance to the pin, pin location, course views for each hole, shot distance, color OLED panel built in, course slope and adjusted distance, GPS and laser built in, 45 hour battery life, beautiful leather protector case, et al. It has at lest twice the capabilities of other range finders making it very worth the price of the unit.

Everything You Could Ask for in One Device

Range finders are a dime a dozen and I always seem to end up trying a new one each season and this year I have definitely found my go to early in the season. I thought it would be difficult to top the predecessor SL2, but Voice Caddie has done just that with this device and set themselves at the top of the mountain in doing so.
First, right out of the box I was extremely impressed as it comes with a nice leather carrying case that can be easily attached to your bag without any worry of the device falling out during your round as the magnets that hold the case closed are quite strong. Onto the actual build quality of the device though I was impressed with the leather on sides that give it that premium feel and will hopefully hold up to more abuse than the typical plastic you find on range finders. Then the aluminum and metal accents definitely give it a high-end appearance. The thing I appreciated the most though was how light the device was as it didn`t carry the amount of heft that other rangefinders do which is much appreciated as the lighter my bag is the better.
Onto the actual performance though is where this thing really sets itself apart. First is that you can`t simply call this a range finder or gps as it is both devices in one. The amazing thing with this though is that it is not simply two devices in one, but the range finder and gps work in conjunction with each other. So, if you have the gps turned on and shoot the flag where there are trees behind the flag the gps will take that into consideration to ensure the finder is reading the flag and not trees. Though the range finder component is snappy and accurate, I found myself primarily utilizing the gps on the device. The reason being is that the gps data is shown on a second screen on the device. The screen isn`t some cheap low-resolution screen either as it is high quality and crystal clear. It isn`t a dumbed down gps either as it functions just as a golf gps watch or phone app would as it shows hole overviews, basic distances to front/center/back of the green, and also green heat maps. One cool feature I have to mention with the hole overview is that prior to starting your round it allows you to input your driving distance and when looking at the hole overview it shows a line as to where your drive should go so you can see if you`d be able to clear obstacles. Then the green heat maps are something that has to be mentioned as it may not sound like something you`d use as much on the actual green taking your gps with you, but it comes in handy on approach shots as I played a course I hadn`t played before and it turned out to be extremely useful on those approach shots.
Some of the basics with this device though is first that you will definitely notice how quick and fast it is to perform any action as the processor in this thing is top notch!! Also, the battery life for a range finder and gps in one is great and the use of USB-C for charging is much welcomed as to not have to worry about another odd cable to have to keep track of. Then the biggest plus to this is that all of the gps features are included in the purchase of the device, so NO MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP is required which is such a nice bonus here!
Overall, this device sits atop both the range finder and gps mountain as it has that exceptionally premium feel, is extremely quick and snappy when using both the range finder and gps functions, and hosts a multitude of features that come in handy during a round of golf. As I mentioned earlier, I seem to try out a new rangefinder or two each season and I really don`t know how another device can top this and for that I reason I would heavily recommend this device to any golfer out there!

The Voice Caddy SL3 is a fantastic product for anyone who is into golfing. The SL3 is beautifully crafted with good quality parts/materials, and it offers plenty of great features.
Inside the box you get the SL3, a white leather carrying case, and a USB charging cable. The SL3 has a comfortable leather grip on both sides of the device that makes it easy to grip, plus it gives it a tasteful look. There are 2 buttons on the top, a brightness button for the OLED screen, and the measure the button. The viewfinder has a twist dial that let you manually put it into focus. There is also a small 1” LED touchscreen right under the viewfinder – which allows you to view detailed information about the course you’re playing on.
The SL3 has some useful features that can give you a great advantage on the golf course. The caddie has built-in GPS that auto activates whenever you enter onto a golf course, it also helps to accurately track where you hit your ball on the course and how close you are to the pin. The SL3 also has built-in Bluetooth that allows you to connect to your phone wirelessly via the My Voice Caddy app. With the app you can, update your device, download more golf courses, and use it as sort of a live score card. Other great features include: the ability to read the slope, the ability to read the elevation and give you detailed information of put views...And all this all happens almost instantaneous after pushing the button to measure.
When put to use, the SL3 works fantastic. I did need to update the SL3 when I first tried to use it on the golf course. Luckily, updating it was both fast and seamless as it does it right from the app when connected to Bluetooth on your phone. Looking through the scope and measuring the distance feels great, thanks to OLED screen that displays through the scope. Plus, it has 6 different levels of brightness, so I never had an issue of not being able to see it clearly. As far as the measurement accuracy, I was very impressed at how accurate the measurements were, they were all pretty spot on. I love how it displays the slope in the same window, this was especially helpful when putting. There is a great feature that’s called Pin Tracer, and what this does is it helps to accurately plot the distance for people who have shaky hands, or even just have a hard time holding the Caddie steady (like me)…All you have to do is hold the button down while trying to aim at the flag, the SL3 will give some vibration feedback followed by the results. The course preview was another very useful feature that let me see information about the course, and what to expect as far as hazards, distance to the green, etc... This is all displayed on the 1” touchscreen located under the scope.
Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with the Voice Caddy SL3. It was such a useful tool to have, and in many ways. Being able to tell the distance to the flag from where I’m standing, lets me know the best club to use. Knowing where the hazards are, helps me to be able to plan my shot better. And it clips right to my golf bag with the included leather case. This is definitely something that I will be using for a long time, and I highly recommend it to any golfer.

Great range finder for golfing

The VoiceCaddie - SL3 True Hybrid GPS and Laser Range Finder with Dual Color OLED is a nice device that I’ve been using when golfing. It has a course layout undulation and pin tracer technology. When opening the package I was pleased to see that it came with a leather case with a carabiner clip that I can attach to a golf bag or other accessories. I chose to wear the case on my belt while playing for quick use on the course. The range finder is made of nice materials and looks good. The leather textured material on each side of the range finder gives it some grip while using it. Being left handed, I was able to use it without regard to dexterity since the controls are easily accessible and ergonomic. The sturdy case is reversible to allow use by right and left handed golfers. The range finder does not use typical batteries that you can remove and replace. It requires you to charge the built in battery using a USB-C connection. Rather than waiting to charge it when I get back home, I decided to keep a portable battery power bank in my bag and charge it that way. It has a rely clear display which you can manually adjust the brightness by pressing the button with a light icon on top of the unit. You can toggle between different brightness levels. The range finder comes with a secondary screen directly below the view finder. The screen has touch input You can view the course by entering Golf Mode. Swiping left or right on the screen will allow you to view the different layouts such as green view, put view, course view, and yardage view. The range finder comes in handy when I’m at courses that I’m not too familiar with as well as difficult shots. I also like how it shows breaks on the green, with this feature being free compared to other range finders that charge a fee. I appreciated the slope integration so I could decide how to adjust my swing as necessary. I’m glad they offer this feature as a built in option at no additional charge. Overall, I’m impressed with the VoiceCaddie range finder and hope to get years of great use out of it.

I have been very impressed with this little guy so far. Range finders almost feel a bit like cheating - especially ones that use GPS and lasers to pin-point your shot metrics but at the end of the day, Golf is supposed to fun and this add to that fun I think. Having the ability to have a GPS map of your course is very useful and not to mention very cool as well. I really like using the Green Undulation feature and the intuitiveness of this rangefinder is very good. In fact, I find the putt view and course view as easy to interpret as playing a round of Golf on my PlayStation 5. It is very similar as it should be because it probably pulls it's metrics from similar sources. There are more than 40,000 course maps pre-loaded on this unit and you actually don't need to navigate to the courses menu, the GPS reads your location and loads the course automatically. I really love the touch LED display and it is easily viewable in direct sunlight for me. I was also able to see the course in the viewfinder at dusk very well which is also a great feature. I highly recommend this flagship rangefinder to up anyone's Golf game.

This was my first time using a range finder. Unit was nicely packaged and delivered by local carrier. Opening the box you find a really nice bright white case and the range finder inside. And a charging cable with no box just usb. The first thing I noticed is you have to charge it by cord no battery so I was immediately concerned about how long the charge would last. Turing it on is simple you just press the button and aim at the target. I thought looking through it that it did a really good job of showing me all the information I needed to determine what shot to hit, or in my case attempt to hit. It was really easy to use and the battery lasted all day. On the front of the range finder there is a touch screen that has a few more options and a view of the hole with some information like distance to hazard and pin placement. I was worried I would accidentally hit the screen but using it for a few rounds now i haven’t had a problem. I wish the case was black because the beautiful white case included is getting a little dirty. I would recommend this to anyone I really enjoy it!

The SL3 rangefinder by Voice Caddie is a very capable device and quality device. The unit feels natural in your hand and is very light. No longer do I need to pull out your cell phone and an app to look at the hole information, it’s all right there on the OLED display. At my first golf outing, as soon as I took the unit out of the case it immediately knew what course I was at without any input or interaction. As I traversed each hole, the unit was spot on with which hole I was on, all due to the built-in GPS functionality. I often found myself using the unit at the tee box, even on Par 5 holes. This is because it provides a full layout of the hole on the OLED screen, including bunks and hazards. From the tee box it lays a 200 yard arc from which you can zoom in to see more details and even touch any area to get a distance to it. Since it’s using GPS, it was extremely accurate, so I knew how far away a hazard was and didn’t even have to look through the viewer. Using the viewer to get measurements, the magnification and information provided was easy to read and the SL3 was quick to provide measurements which appeared to be accurate. It was hit or miss with the Pin Tracer function, not sure if it was me or the unit. I could get it to lock to the pin and it vibrated when doing so, but a few times it didn’t seem like the distance was right compared to just looking at what the screen showed. When it did work, it was nice to get the slope which provided an adjusted distance to compensate. When approaching the greens, I did like to preview the slope to give me an idea of what to expect, however I didn’t find myself using it while on the green itself due to having other players behind us.

What my golf games been missing!

I don’t know why it took me so long to realize I needed a nice rangefinder to help my golf game… but it did. I hunt a lot and use a range finder every time I’m out, I couldn’t imagine leaving home to go hunting without my rangefinder… now I can’t imagine going golfing without one either. This thing is built to last and feels great in the hand. Feels sturdy and expensive!
I finally had a nice weekend with the weather cooperating to really out it through the paces. I golfed Saturday and Sunday with it and really enjoyed using it. Like I said, I can’t imagine holding without it now that I’ve used it! It comes with a nice pouch that I clip to my golf bag so I don’t forget it in my cart or have to carry it around. Rangefinder works exactly as you’d expect it to and is very intuitive. The range reading pops up very quickly and is super clear. It has 6 different brightness levels so no matter how bright or cloudy you’ll be able to find the perfect level for clear reading. The GPS option is a real game changer for me, it’s quick and clear. It’s so convenient and quick to not have to fumble around and choose a hole, etc… it just knows your location and boom… you’re ready with you’re reading!

RATING OVERVIEW:
I am genuinely conflicted on how many stars to give this Voice Caddie (VC) SL3 Laser Rangefinder (LRF). I thought I was going to give five because it works as a LRF and a GPS measurement device phenomenally, but as I got into my review, I realized there are some (relatively minor) deficiencies which preclude a perfect 5. If I could, I would rate it 4.8 or even a 4.9. I also cannot overlook the fact that this is a very expensive device, and there are some very good and very less expensive LRFs on the market. But if you are looking for an excellent premium LRF and if money is no object, you will be thrilled to have this - as I am.
DETAILS:
- PACKAGING / BUILD QUALITY - Out of the box this is one fine looking device:
- Packaging is nice and the device feels solid with good polished metal and a leather wrapping. It is lightweight and small. Excellent.
- The device comes with a white leather case which is definitely a negative. The leather is nice, but I knew right away that no matter how careful I was, it would smudge and show dirt. Sure enough, after my first time out with it, the case got a bit dirty and smudgy. I tried to clean it up, but it is already permanently stained. Providing a white case was certainly a poor decision on VC's part.
- The case includes a standard carabiner to clip it around a ring on your golf bag or cart, but this is nothing special.
- The case includes an integrated loop so you can affix it to your a belt. I tried to carry it on my belt but found it a bit too large to do while swinging a club
- The device does not have anything magnetic to affix it to a cart - another negative. For $600, I would expect this as so many other LRFs have a magnet. Not sure I would want to affix it to a moving golf cart, but I would affix it to a push cart.
- MANUAL: The manual is just ok and it has small printing. Perhaps VC envisioned people carrying it around in their pocket (which I initially did while learning).
- I was also able to find a PDF of the manual on line.
- There is nothing in the manual about Bluetooth. The only reason you know it has BT is that it is in the menu system.
○ I did some searching and found that you can BT connect the SL3 to your phone and use the VC app (see below). But there is nothing in the manual about the VC app.
- There is also nothing in the manual regarding firmware updates (again, see below).
- It does not describe "Golf Mode" adequately or some of the other features such as V. AI, night mode or driver distance. You can find info on-line however.
- FEATURES / PERFORMANCE:
- This is one excellent device. I have a very shaky hand, but with the anti-shake feature, "Pin Tracer" and "GPS Assist", I can lock onto the pin (or whatever else), quickly and easily. The GPS Assist "blurs" backgrounds like trees/houses so you can lock onto the pin. It does seem to work very well.
- I was able to compare the SL3 against a number of other devices such as other LRFs, my GPS golf watch and the pins on my home course's range and short game area using the "Accu-range" app. The distances were dead on.
- The optics are excellent. 6x magnification with the quality of the optics should suffice for everyone.
- The OLED screen below viewfinder for GPS is what sets the SL3 apart. It does mimic my golf watch showing distances to Front, Middle, Back and distances to hazards, etc. It is great. I am able to glance at it while walking up the fairway and really know what club I want to hit. Then I can quickly "lock in" on my distance if I want to using the range finder function. Fantastic.
○ One big negative though - sometimes, the SL3 does not automatically switch holes when going from tee to green, and I had to do it manually. This is a deficiency that needs fixing.
- There is a GPS shot distance feature which works, but I did find that using it on my watch was easier (plus, that gets uploaded after my round so I can track my shots with whatever club I used - something you cannot do with the SL3, although it is not made to do that).
- Green Undulation / Putt View - this is where I have to give this device an "incomplete." This view is to show a heat map of the greens with undulations. However, VC does not have my club included yet. I am surprised by this given that my club has three courses with a very large membership.
○ I did contact VC about this. To VC's credit, the rep got back with a timely response and said he would "have to submit a course request" for my club's courses to get this feature; however he said it would "take a bit of time." Therefore, I could not review this feature. You will want to know if your course does have this feature before you purchase since this is a big feature that would justify the price.
- Battery life is more than acceptable. I used it for three rounds in GPS mode and it wasn't until the end of my third round when I got a low battery warning. The unit is each to charge with provided USB cable.
- VOICE CADDIE APP: As mentioned, I stumbled across the VC App. I quickly was able to download it and connect the SL3 to my phone. The App:
- Is fairly basic. It does appear that you will be able to update FW via the app. For me, it showed the FW was up to date.
- Shows the SL3 manual, previews a course before you play it, and shows battery life.
- Allows you to manually input stats - for instance score, putts, etc. (which you cannot do on the SL3).
- Can change the units, but this is the only setting you can change (not slope, GPS assist, Driver distance, etc.).
- Does not show a GPS view of the course you are playing. But I did not find any help on the app so perhaps I am missing it.
○ It is possible the app is mainly for their watch devices, but I tried it out since I saw the Bluetooth connection. Therefore I really haven't based my review on the App. But it would be nice if VC would mature the integration between the SL3 and the App and expand the feature set.
SUMMARY
Although I had to only give this 4 stars due to the items mentioned above, I am confident you will love this device if you are willing to splurge for it. The hybrid Laser/GPS system is fantastic and has so many features. Because of my unsteady hand, I was fearful the SL3 would not lock onto the pin. My fears have been complete allayed. I lock on, lock on quickly, and the measurement is perfect. I love being able to use the GPS features too. It is the best of both worlds. The unit looks and feels great too. I wish VC had the green undulation/putt view feature for my course, the case wasn't white, the manual was more detailed, and the app was more useful (all of which is why I could not go a perfect 5), but all in all, this is an excellent device. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I have been in the market for a GPS Range Finder for quite some time, and I was eager to put the VoiceCaddie SL3 to use as soon as it came in! First impressions matter, and I was not disappointed here! This unit is very sleek and stylish, with the performance to back up it's great looks. The PIN tracer technology is phenomenal, and it will completely transform the game for you. The features on this Ranger Finder are everything I have been looking for, and they are exceptionally accurate as well. The device has adjustable brightness, without this it would be unusable in the sun, but I could see the screen well all day. The putt view is also awesome! The elevation and distance measurement really helps me dial in my short game, which has historically been a weak spot for me. The only real downsides of this device would have to be the touchscreen sensitivity being a little low, you really have to push on it to use it. This will definitely prevent any accidental button pushes though, so not all bad. Overall this is a device you will never find me at the course without! All of my friends are going to be getting one too!
