Size vs. Storage Capacity, What's the best for you

WD (Western Digital) has always made good products, and now they are moving in on Samsungs & Sandisks territory of USB Memory Cards and you can't blame them, they are cheaper and easier to make then Hard Drives or Solid State Drives and the profit margin is significantly higher, thus the recommendation to wait for "SALES" and even then as you go up in size, the value becomes something to consider. For example a 256GB SSD can be had for around $25-$30, where as the same size flash drive is currently ON SALE for $32.99, and then when you step up into the 512GB Flash Drives you are going to exceed $84.99 to $149.99, where on the opposite side of the fence you can get a 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD for $99 to $109 and lets not even get into comparing 1TB USB Flash Drives as they can go as high as $499.99, were as you can get a high quality brand like Samsung or SanDisk for $179.99 to $259.99 for a 2TB, and so there are still some pricing issues to be aware of but basically the bottom like is this, do you want to purchase a smaller, easy to carry or transport USB Flash drive, BUT PAY A HIGHER PRICE, OR do you want to buy a External SSD that will typically give you 2 to 8 times the storage capacity for the price and allow slightly more flexibility.
For example, i have noticed that many Blu Ray Players, even ones made in 2019-2020 dont support more then a 32GB or 64GB USB Flash Drive BUT they for some reason DO recognize and support a 1TB, 2TB, and even one of my 3 year old Sony $99 Blu Ray Players will recognize a 4TB external SSD or HDD but that same $99 Sony Blu Ray Player will only recognize a 64GB USB Flash Drive, hence my next order of a Sony 1000Xe Blu Ray Player, which according to the specifications is still maxed out at 128GB USB, but will accept much larger USB SDD's and USB HDD's and with that said, it is up to you to decide in paying more for less but getting it in a slightly smaller package is worth the money to you. It should also be noted that many newer External SSD's and even external HDD's have shrunk to a smaller size due to advances in memory chip and controller technology as well as on HDD's higher capacity spindles allowing for smaller drives, and with that i leave you to make up your mind as to which is best, as for warranty, the cell type memory that both USB Flash, and NVMe or SSD drives are based on DOES degrade, so check the amount of read/write times or manufactures suggested hours of operation on the drives you are looking at but as far as this WD 128GB for the $15.99 plus tax Black Friday Sale price, it was pretty much a no brainer, after all, these days what tech can you get for under $20 that you can actually use everyday?
And that's the VipersHardware tip and take on this drive, Enjoy and Happy Tech Hunting

Fast, easy, and convenient. The plastic casing is sturdy and has not broken while being toted around in my pocket. It has the quality I expect from a WD product.

This was a great flash drive to use. The space is 126GB is a good amount of space. I had no issue using this drive to transfer data from one device to another.

Navy blue is my absolute favorite color. Just like the flash drive in the picture. The one I received was sky blue.

Yes, you get a lot of space for a flash drive, but nothing is a free ride. It may be classified as USB 3.0, but it preforms on par with a USB 2.0 on every computer I have tried. I found it only gets between 2-7MB/s transfer speed in write. Read speeds go from 10MBs to 100MB/s but often average around 20MB/s.

Used this for my PC, it worked perfectly and carried out the exact use it should’ve. It did however mess up and corrupt my storage. So maybe PC use isn’t good.

I purchased this Flash drive in on 6/21/2019 and as of March 2020. It stop working, lose all my work files and I purchased 128GB that even say's on flash-drive but after plug-in to machine it show's it has 32gb. Like I never since something like this to be happen. I'm using my other flash drives for more then 5 -7 years and still working fast/safe. Plus I purchased those while ago for cheaper price then what I had paid for this. So, my thoughts to customer try to use it everyday before return policy get's over and you will know all. I'm extremely disappointed by WD first time ever. The reason I had purchased this because of the brand and I have owned lot of personal clouds storage's.

This was the best value I could find online for USB 3.1 which offers the fastest data transfer, with a ton of storage and a low price. This is the perfect thumb drive. It’s also brightly colored so lesser chance of me accidentally leaving it behind at school or somewhere. It is also name brand so it’s trusted and a well made product. Western Digital is my favorite go-to brand for external hard drives, I have some 2 TB ones that have never failed me- better than Seagate.

I bought this to offload some huge photo and video files that had completely filled the ssd on a laptop I just bought a few months ago. I don’t really need the older files, but I preferred an inexpensive way to keep them without being tethered to an external drive. This flash drive was one of several good options at an attractive price. It is a simple product, but here are some quick thoughts:
Setting it up: essentially no setup required, although I learned (by ignoring the instructions) that you have to select a different format than the default (“EX-FAT” vs. the default “FAT32”) if you want to transfer files larger than 4mb (note that this is true of almost all flash drives, not just this one). WD’s website has the best explanation of this - just know it was easy once I realized it was an issue.
Using it: It integrates seamlessly with the Windows 10 file structure, so I just plug it in, select files, and drag or use the “move to” command to transfer them to the drive.
Capacity: 128gb is a big flash drive. I needed it, and even if you don’t, at this price it is better to have it and not need it than vice versa.
Bottom line: it’s just a flash drive. There might be better ones out there, but this one has solid capacity and it works fairly quickly and reliably and causes no problems.

Bought two of these recently and really enjoyed the speed/performance these offer! The switch to open and close the flash drive is also not as flimsy as other drives which was shocking for the price. If you transfer large files from PC's frequently or just need a simple backup in place. This is the drive for you!

This USB flash drive holds a good amount of files and does it's job well for the price as I got it on sale. The bad side to it is it flashes with a blue light when it is plugged into a USB port and it doesn't seem sturdy. It has worked fine for me since I bought it but it feels flimsy like it may not last long term whereas other USB's I have seem sturdier and don't have the blue light. The pros of this drive was more memory for a lower price.

I got this thumb drive to listen to some of my music library in the car. I ended up picking up a second one to have for transferring files from my desktop computer to laptop or re-installing software on the laptop since it does not have a disc drive. I believe the USB drive is really a Sandisk inside since Western Digital purchased them.

Fast reading/transferring files from, slower in the writing/transferring files to (a typical for any USB 2.0/3.0 flash drives). Quick tip if you plan to mainly transfer large files with it, especially long duration HD video files, be aware you'll get a individual file size limit (not storage space) error/or, it just won't transfer. That's because of the FAT32 drive format it has, limiting individual files size to roughly 3.6GB - You'll need to find something else for transferring larger file sizes. Usually NTFS on up handles such, however I don't recommend re-formatting these USB flash drives as some I've found to later defect/fail easily possibly as a result of re-formatting from the orig./factory specs.
*Great deal sometimes as Best Buy may adjust it from time to time.

Good size. No problems, it stores what it needs too. I have by accident washed it twice in the washer and its still working perfectly.
