A good personal cloud device if you don't want to pay online cloud providers "forever" plus you want additional features like synching/backing up content/documents across multiple machines into a single place. I have had this device almost 2 months now and I can say that it works exactly as it is supposed to. I have not had any issues so far which is a good thing. So, here are some more details based on my experience. It was very easy to setup. There are multiple ways/apps for different platforms (Mobile, Desktop, Online). Installation of all these apps is pretty straightforward and I was able to access the device and content on all these platforms without any issues. I was able to import the contents from my old cloud device to this one using a USB 3 cable and the port at the back of it. So, overall a good purchase that will save you money plus in the long run (as opposed to an online cloud provider) plus gives you more controls.

Had My Cloud for many years, and decided to replace with My Cloud Home, as support for the older product was expiring. Though I was impressed with the ease of setup, I was disappointed by how little control you have over the device via the web interface. The sharing is totally different, and does not allow for an administrator to control all of the shares and backups. Would hope that WD could incorporate those features in the newer product.

I was a bit disappointed that it did not actually manage backups. It does sync files that you select. Actual backups must be done with 3rd party software. I use Windows backup and direct to this drive which is auto mounted. The really great thing is you can select a file to share and send a link to whom you would like to share the file with. You can also access your synced files remotely with phone, iPad, laptop if you have downloaded the app. I provided access for one of my kids and he has a separate partition to backup and manage his files. Totally independent of mine. He now has true geographical redundancy for his critical files.

I will give 3 stars as few times it either stopped responding or didn't complete showing all files in the apps, so I had to reset it. I guess you try to save a recurring cloud storage fee, it's something that you have to deal with occasionally.

I used to get mycloud drives all the time because I liked the simple web interface that Western Digital offered to access and configure the drives. This one though you have to first create an account with WD like you would create an apple ID or a Microsoft account. That is stupid enough already but the account sign up didn't work. When I called WD to find out if the registration for the account arrived on their end the chap and me reset the drive and do all sorts of things completely unrelated to creating an account. After wasting some more time I just surrendered put it back in the box and created a drive share through the router that has a usb port. I don't really care for accessing the drive through yet another app on my phone. As for NAS drives Buffalo still has a decent web interface you can access through a Browser.

Had it for about a month and it is awesome to be able to have my pictures automatically back up to my Google cloud and person cloud so I never lose anything. Always accessible and never had any speed issues when streaming movies.

Very easy to setup. App based. Works across all popular platforms. Seamless access. Instantly available. I backed up documents on my PC and instantly available on my phone and MacBook. I love that I can invite my family and share certain folders and keep the rest of my data private. Way cheaper than cloud service and ALOT more storage. I can also add additional drives if ever need more space.

connecting the wires was the easiest part of this device. I don't understand where my files went the 1st time i transferred them. they took up space but there were no where to be found. i have a wd device one of the original myclouds from like 2 years ago more space and cheaper because it did less. this is actually my 3rd WD my cloud i had purchased. i have many of their hard drives and have no issues. i thought this would be easy to do. not sure exactly what changed but i am not happy. i reset the device 3 times thinking that maybe i did something wrong, i highly doubt i did anything to cause it to sometimes read and sometimes write the files. i have owned 2 old versions of this from wd and have no isses with connectios or transfers. i connected to older one back up and it works great.

You have to use the Western Digital app to stay logged in to the device...on Windows. Doesn’t work with the new M1 processor on Mac so I haven’t been able to use it to share files.

I scanned receipt, important papers and family picture that I want to keep forever easily. The software allows me to create folders and sub-folders. You can copy and paste within the program. You can open MyCloud any where you have WiFi. It’s awesome.

I love my Cloud Home. However, transferring from my prior WD MY CLOUD was tedious. WD customer service rep, was of no assistance. Hence I had to move folders manually. After that tedious task, it is simple to use. I don't like that it keeps disconnecting the cloud on Cloud Discovery. Everyday I need to logon.

Do Not Purchase. It is not apparent from the description, but the hard drive is easily accessible y others on the internet. It has low security. One day after installing I was informed by my internet provider that there was an attempt to hack into the my cloud home. A quick google search (should have done that before buying) shows this is an insecure product. I discussed this with tech support and they advised me to consult with an IT security expert. No help. All I wanted to know is that the product is not accessible by an unauthorized person. Just don’t buy this product. The company does nothing to help you keep your network safe.

Actually gives about 2.7 T.B. but that is just the difference in way the data space is advertised and measured. Throughput though gigabyte router through cat 6 cable approached 850 (1000 is gigabyte) but that is also due to overhead. No problems setting up. (when I remembered that it does have to be actually plugged in)
