Reliable backup storage and great portable drive at the right price!

I was running out of space on my Desktop and grabbed this just in time. Its a small but powerful External HD. If you're like me and lose anything electrical that's coloured black put a bright coloured marker on it. I lose so many black or white cables this way unless I mark them with a bright colour. One day I'm going to start putting them where they belong.

small in size, however LARGE in volume. priced very competitively.

No problems using this drive. Straight from the packet, I backed up a LOT of information and thousands of pictures (over 850 MB) from my toshiba laptop thus freeing the onboard space for more stuff and increasing the speed. Would recommend it to anyone, but be careful not to drop it on the floor as they can break inside. I am actually going to buy another one, as an extra precaution, and also to use as a master copy locked away in case of problems later, These drives are really handy and easy to carry with your pc, if I could fault it it would be to say that they do not provide a carry case with it, but I bought an armoured one myself, to protect it. It would not cost them much to give you one with the purchase and that would make it a better deal.

I bought my WD Passport on sale for about $50 and used it for backing up several of my PCs. It holds 1TB (all the average user needs), is very portable, and holds more than a flash "thumb" drive. It's hard to believe they can pack that much data into such a tiny drive. I like using my own in-house storage rather than cloud storage for backups because I really worry about the security of that data. Where does it go anyway? Also, you can easily transport your photos, spreadsheets, and other files easily between computers.

Okay so this has pretty much everything you need! I have another external hard drive & it has less space on it then this one, AND it is physically larger. The passport drive is about 20% smaller, holds MORE space, & has some cool features. You can 'lock' the drive's access w/ a password, & set automatic backup!! This is the one to get.

I spent a long time looking over external hard drives because my Macbook Pro Retina doesn't have a lot of internal storage. I really like the WD My Passport because of its size -- very compact, would be easy to travel with. It also has a 3.0 USB connection, so it works very quickly. Compatible with either Mac or PC -- a no brainer!

This was low cost, but seems high quality. Easy to set up as either an external hard drive or for storage. It's taken the stress of my desktop's hard drive (way too much music and movies, I have!) Operates seamlessly as a lettered hard drive, acting like an installed part of the computer. Highly recommended, esp. at this price.

This drive is used to create a cold backup of two mac mini's with SSDs. I wanted usb-3 and decent performance and since the two machines have 500gb drives, a 1tb drive was all I needed. I ended up selecting the WD over Seagate because it has a 1yr longer warranty and the usb connector on the drive itself seats better than I've seen on the Seagate units. I would only buy this on sale.

We have found WD - My Passport Ultra 1TB External USB 3.0/2.0 Portable Hard Drive - Classic Black to be a reliable, economical solution to storing client material for archival and future use. In fact we have three of them for our own use, and have provided a number of them for clients wishing their own a copy of their files.

Purchased this product for my Xbox One as an extended drive. Runs my games incredibly smooth, and have had no issues so far. Very small and easy to conceal if you want to.

in this day and age with everything being digital storage space is at a premium, and a good HDD is hard to find, especially one at a good price, these have always worked for me and have had no problems and personally a 0% failure rate for me. just plug into one USB port and use, no external power supply needed.

Bought this to move all of my pics and music from the laptop because it was almost out of room. It had good reviews and a great price so I picked one up. Installed easy, transfer was quick and now I have all the important stuff off of the laptop so I can reinstall and clean up the OS. I'd recommend this drive.

I bought this as a replacement for an older model. I love this new one. It is much smaller, and was easy to set up. I have it set up to automatically backup my files every day since I lost everything the last time my PC died, and then found out my backups weren't being done as scheduled.

I have two of these Passports (one is a back-up and then a back-up TO the back-up...) I gifted this one to someone who has lost her hard drive repeatedly - NOW she has a way to back-up her data and photos of her prized dogs. These are SO easy to use, small yet quite efficient!!

Drive was easy to setup in a Windows environment and I had no issues with drivers etc. The drive is not the fastest but not the slowest and somewhere in the middle. I was looking for reliability and so far I have had not issues. I would recommend this for anybody who requires a nice backup device with about medium performance. Time will tell on how long the device will last but from my limited experience it works good.

Bought this for a cheap storage solution for my Xbox one and because of the specs. Works great and is faster than the xbox internal drive with load times. I have a 3 TB version similar to this for PC storage and have never had any issues or complaints with WD external drives.

Good amount of memory for my needs and well priced (I did get it on sale). I have only had it for a few weeks and so far no problems. One comment- the software that walks you through the back up process wasn't bad but it could have been a little more straight forward (granted I like things that are very easy and straightforward!). I would not let this issue stop you from purchasing this product....

The price is great for the memory size and it's easy to use , had no problems thus far.
