The drive is very cool and nice to be able to place it somewhere in the room other than on my desk. WAY SLOW and in WWW land, everyone is having the same issues. This drive would have really kicked butt if the speed was even 1/2 way usable but the way it is now, the drive is a doorstop. This drive deserves a better name than My Password, should ready My Anchor it is sooooo slooooowww

Works as advertised. Connect to the drive’s WiFi (2.5 & 5 ghz) and you can use files as long as iOS can recognize the file. You can auto save SD cards once inserted. It puts each card in its own folder. I had no problem using Canon RAW files in Lightroom CC. I had to wait for a minute for enough of the files to download to begin editing. Lightroom continued to sync in the background while I was able to make changes. All of my edits are saved on the drive. Lightroom syncs your edits when you reopen later. Definitely a space saver. The drive is thinner than I imagined. It can run on battery. The only issue I had is that it doesn’t always piggyback off of my home WiFi well. Sometimes I had to change back to home WiFi to get internet. This drive meets all of my requirements. I can edit camera raws and video without using the iPads space. I can export finished files to the camera roll for offline viewing.

So I wanted to write a review for those who need this product. I personally took mine back but not because I did not like it but because it was not what I needed. This is excellent for those who need on-the-go storage. The MyCloud app connects your online cloud services to one place. It allows transferring files to and from the other cloud services. The included Plex server is awesome. My needs were for personal cloud storage so that is the ONLY reason I took it back. This is a must buy for on-the-go storage.

For years I've worried about loosing my camera and SD cards full of pictures. When traveling, I prefer not to carry a laptop to backup pictures; it's just me, cameras, and a cell phone in the field. And I wondered when a company would get around to making something simple like a hard-drive with a card slot to backup image files. I asked the question a lot until one day a Best Buy laptop sales guy told me such a thing existed. The WD My Passport Wireless Pro has more whistles and bells than I need (i.e. uploading to cloud storage) which makes it more complex than necessary. But it's incredibly simple for my primary requirement; automatically backing up SD card's contents. The drive can be configured to do auto backup or start a backup with a one-touch button … it couldn't be easier to get the job done. It also does incremental backups of new images added to memory cards. A cell phone app lets you look at stored pictures and there are a lot of other ways to use the product again more than I need). I shoot a Nikon D850 set for JPG+Raw, so the backups might take a little longer than expected given the large file sizes. Small status lights let you know when the backup is finished. Because there is a decent size internal power source and WAP, it's not as small as I'd like, but the benefit is piece-of-mind knowing copies of pictures can be made immediately and then safely tucked away in a hotel safe or sent to a cloud service. Another nice feature is that the internal battery can charge your cell phone if needed.

Well ladies and gentlemen here is something I looked into deeply as a photographer looking for better ways to store my photos on the go. This device here is awesome to say the least. I bought it mainly for the feature that I can simply insert my sad card and have it backed up automatically and either keep or delete the files on the card afterwards. Now I use it as another backup battery for my iPad when needed. Or I can set it up wirelessly and transfer my pics with ease. Only thing I wish was that Best Buy had the 4tb device in because I had to settle with the 2tb instead. Either way I’ll still rate it 5 stars.

This is, is a good product. It would be great if it worked as intended. Good: Alot of storage Fast enough HDD WiFi router inside Apps available for PC, Android and apple. Apps for transfer, backup and such Admin interface is nice looking Is a battery for charging phones and such. It lasts close to 10 hrs. Bad: WiFi uplink for uploading data to it is weak or defective Times out when uploading alot of data even though the connection is one to one. Router inside is not the best quality, worse than standard (sigaml reception and such) Software is glitchy.. says it has little battery every 10 min.. when it does not. (Updated the firmware and sent email to support.. little improvement)

I've been looking for a portable drive that I could make immediate backups of SD cards in the field for quite a long time. They have been available but at a cost of several hundred more than this. This does exactly what I want. I only knocked it down a star due to some connectivity issues with my phone... sometimes it just won't connect. Love the fact that it can be used as a external battery for phones as well. Really nice little bonus.

First thing be sure to update it to the latest firmware. Second hook it up to your computer and read the manual that is on the disk and follow the directions there. This thing exceeded my expectations and for what I purchased it for. I bought it so I could copy my camera cards to the drive when they fill up and I'm not near my computer. It's got a built in SD card slot and a usb port for other devices to copy data from. I use it with my Sony XQD reader to copy my camera XQD card to it and it works just fine. Even the Sandisk XQD reader worked just fine. Now where I was surprised and extremely pleased is that you can also use it as a router gateway for when you are in a hotel. We left for a two night stay at a hotel and I wanted to bring some movies with me so I copied them over to the drive. I preconfigured it to use my SSIDs that I use a home so all of our devices would just connect to it when we got there. So when I got to the room I pulled it out, turned on my iPad and connected through it to the hotel wifi and got it all logged in and working in about 2 minutes. Easy as pie. Then I pulled out my Sonos speaker & Apple TV and plugged them and and within 10 minutes I had music and movies working perfectly. I was able to stream the videos from my AppleTV directly from the drive. It just all worked. I use GoodPlayer on the AppleTV to play the videos directly from the drive share rather than try and install Plex which it supports. If I were going to primarily use it as a TV streaming drive I would probably try Plex. But GoodPlayer works just fine for streaming videos from the drive share so why bother just for a few movies. I did plug the drive in to the charger and leave it there so it wouldn't power off while we were there. I use to carry a wifi router with me to get all my devices connected to the hotel network and now all I have to carry is just this one little box and it does everything I need when traveling. Now your milage will vary of course. I'm very technically capable so all of this was really easy for me. If you have no idea how to setup a a wifi router then what I describe may be a little challenging. But I have to say the setup of the drive is very simple and so anyone should be able to fairly easily get this thing doing whatever you want. My only regret is that I got the 2GB drive instead of the 3GB drive.

WD provides the best solution for portability and accessibility. I love the wireless option to this drive. Being able to backup, send files, stream files as well as archive files to this drive is so easy. What's the most impressive is the ability to do all of this wirelessly. Great reliable drive.

Purchased the Passport to backup SD and XQD cards from my digital camera. The device is WiFi compatible and CAN use adapters to back up XQD, Compact Flash, and other memory devices. Battery life is good, and the device will charge while connected to a USB 3 Port on a computer. I am still learning how to configure, but it seems to over-complicate the folders created automatically. I really just want a simple folder to move and backup files on my memory cards while I am out at a shoot. I will eventually figure out the best method, so not a negative for the device. Purchased the hard drive version over the SSD based on price and total capacity.

Attention any video/DRM cannot play unless DRM removed. Use App like NoteBurner to convert before uploading to Passport

Love it, the portability, the storage space, and the deal that I got for it, love the fact that you all price match for me in earning my business! The only thing that I didn't like and is that, they don't sell the productive rubber cover as an available separate option/accessory via either direct manufacture or you all-(Best Buy) or any other retailer for that matter for extra protection. But besides that! Definitely a Thumbs up on everything else!

I like the portability, but the wireless connectivity is a little awkward and not what I had hoped . That being said, I bought this for two use cases, one to give me portability in the field with a drone, and two to give me "team access" during investigations. For the purpose of downloading directly from microSD cards, works good. For the team connectivity.....not as good. Anyone that is going to access has to have the WD software/app installed in order to access it, which is NOT optimal. But HD is good, fairly rugged for portable use as well, and like that it is rechargeable for use in the field. Would still recommend to a friend, but with the caveat of it's use case limitations.

It does work and it is a great little thing to have on the go to start backing up photos or video without having to bring your laptop everywhere. It does need some work however with how the drive works when you are using the app though. The app works great to move things around once you have stuff on it but as far as my experience using it, I wouldn't use the app to copy items from a memory card because most of the times it only did a partial copy (missing files) but when you go into the app and into the settings and decide to import the whole card that works and also when you plug a card in and you push the button closest to the card that works great as well, you just have to keep in mind that it will be copying everything from that card.

The first My Passport Wireless Pro I purchased was defective. I returned it to BB and got another. The second one has been working fine so far. The best thing about it is that it'll auto back up your camera's SD card (without a computer) and make the pictures and video available on your phone or laptop wirelessly. It doesn't seem to work wirelessly on my desktop with Windows 10 however. You can still view them but you have to connect the USB cable to it. Maybe they'll fix that in the future. The wireless feature does work fine on my Macbook Pro though. Overall I like it but it's not without issues.

At 3TB, the My Passport Wireless Pro has plenty of storage for videos, photos and documents. The built-in SD reader and USB provides rapid media transfers. Video streaming to multiple devices is smooth and reliable. Battery life is up to 10 hours depending on file size, bitrate and devices connected. Setup was a breeze because instructions were very easy to follow.
