You see this? You want this. You know why? It's a Western Digital, start there. It's a Red Plus = Fast, reliable, NAS. It's the right price. AND It's the actual best model offered... It's the WD40EFPX model, meaning... - It's a CMR drive (not the cheaper, less reliable and slower SMR drive). - It has a 256mb buffer (not 128mb) - It's a PLUS series... Faster than Red, slower than Pro, still super fast for an HDD. - It's built to last... for servers, RAID and home use. Oh, and it's almost the same price as a Blue (entry level). Bottom line, for backup and daily access... GET THIS!!!

Why do I keep stopping when I use my Seagate hard drive? So I use a Western Digital hard drive. unshakable trust

I use WD Red Plus drives for a server that I use to run multiple items including back up storage and streaming my own videos. I currently have 4 of these drives and they continue to work. I have had to complete a warranty on a different drive direct to WD and the process was easy but just took a while for shipping and returns.

I threw this in my media server and have had ZERO issues! It runs quietly even when I’m streaming from it on multiple sources, and 4TB, in my opinion, is the perfect sweet spot for price/GB and time it would take to copy the data to a replacement of one failed.

Good drive. Nothing exceptional, decent hard drive. I have been using a hard drive for a while now and I must say that it's a decent one. Although it's not that fast, it's reliable and gets the job done. It's not an enterprise-class hard drive, but for the money, it's not a bad choice. Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase."

I bought two of these, one was Dead On Arrival. The first installed with no problem, I Installed the second one but got an error message that the disk was uninitialized and to first initialize it. First time I'd ever seen this error. Looked up the error information on the internet and it explained how to use the windows (Win 10 in my case) CONTROL PANEL -> ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS -> COMPUTER MANAGEMENT -> DISK MANAGEMENT menu string to get to a screen that listed all my hard drives, including the new one which came up with the status of UNINITIALIZED and a message to click on the INITIALIZE option to fix it. As soon as I clicked on INITIALIZE I received another error message -> THIS REQUEST FAILED DUE TO A FATAL DEVICE HARDWARE ERROR. Searching the web for this error message basically indicated there was no way to recover from this and it should be returned to the manufacturer. The next day I took it back to Best Buy and they took it back as defective. They didn't have any more in stock at the store but they ordered a replacement one for me and it arrived at my house in two days. This one started up as expected and has been running fine now. My thanks to BestBuy for its return policy and help in getting a rapid replacement. The 3 rating was for getting a new, out of the box, defective hard drive, not BestBuys fault, BestBuy gets a 5 for the handling of the return process.

The WD Red Plus series hard drives for NAS are nice and reliable. I noticed that they are not as loud as the Seagate IronWolf hard drives. The price is good as well.

This is my 3rd or 4th red drive. They all seem to be good quality and I haven't had any issues yet.i think most name brand hdds these days are pretty good and it's just bad luck at this point if one fails in the first year in normal conditions.

Installed easy and works as expected. I’ve been using these for years. I tend to get about 8 trouble free years out of one of these in RAID1. Then they temd to fail. But then you pull the bad one out and drop a new ine in and keep on going.

I just got this recently so I can't speak to durability but it seems to be working great so far as a replacement/uprgade in my NAS. In store pick-up was convenient as I was running other errands and nice not to have to pay for shipping or worry about porch pirates. Price was competitive with the other common options.

I am working to operate the automation system in a warehouse where automation equipment has been completed. I purchased the hard drive to be used as a backup server in the automation system and it is working very well. There is no noise either.

Bought this as a replacment boot drive for my company's fileserver. I've always been a big fan of Western Digital and this drive did not disappoint. The trickiest part was cloning the drive from an SSD. It took two tries to get the clone right, but now it's chugging along and I expect not to have to replace this drive for years to come.

My office has a 10 year old qnap raid array with 8 drives in a raid10... The wd reds have performed admirably - only 3 drives in the array in that time have needed replacement. My only wish is that the boss would let me buy a full set of new drives at the biggest size... That or just go full NVME raid lol
