    Great for the RV Life

Having recently dived in to the RV lifestyle with a travel trailer, and having always road tripped in my Ram pickup truck, I was really excited to get this booster. There were always those times where I'd be driving through the middle of nowhere and have horrible cell connection. Usually not a big deal, unless you have a 6 year old riding in the back you're trying to keep happy. With the addition of the RV, I found myself staying at several State parks. Unfortunately the state parks I've been to have rarely had good cell coverage. Great if you want to get away, but not so great when you decide you want to work remotely. Because why not take advantage of having to work remote due to the pandemic and do it with some beautiful scenery. That's where this booster comes in. I knew about this booster when I visited the oil fields in west Texas. I noticed this weird looking antenna on everyone's trucks, and found out everyone out there swore by it as they tend to drive out into very remote regions. So first thing I did when I got this booster was take a quick road trip to the state park I often go to and where I knew had bad cell service. Set everything up on my Ram truck, and started testing my connection without the booster, and then plugging it in. The booster did exactly what it said it would do. My cell signal improved every time. Sometimes by only a couple bars, but the improvement was there. I took screenshots of the signal strength with and without the booster to show the improvement. I drove all around the state park testing out in bad spots and good spots, and no matter where I went, my connection was improved. And in case you're wondering, my carrier is T-Mobile, although that shouldn't matter since the booster should work regardless of the carrier. So far I'm really happy with this booster, although I have yet to take one of those long road trips to really put it to the test. This booster now allows me to work out of my travel trailer too, since now I can hop onto a call or meeting anytime, whereas before when I tried, the call would just break apart and I was forced to drive out to get service, but no more. The only thing I still have trouble doing work-wise, is trying to use my cell phone as a hotspot for data when I need to get on the internet through my laptop. Even though I was getting a boosted connection, I'm not sure it's meant for data usage in this way. So loading sites was painfully slow still, albeit I was at least getting a little bit of data whereas without the booster I got none at all. Set-up was much easier than I thought it would be too, with one exception that I'll get to in a moment. All the cables are sufficiently long enough and very durable. It even tells you in the manual that you don't have to worry about damaging the line if you need to run it through your door jamb and shut the door on it. With my Ram, there are actually plenty of spots and holes to route everything through to keep most of it hidden and clean looking. Now to the exception, and that is installing the external/outdoor antenna. It uses a standard cb antenna mount, so if you have one of those somewhere, great, but if you don't, good luck. The only mounting bracket this comes with is one that you attach to a metal bar like you would see on old truck sideview mirrors, or more commonly now on semi trucks. As for pickup trucks, they all have more modern sleek mirrors, I don't think they've had the metal bar style in many many years. So be aware that in this case, you'll need to improvise or go out and buy a bracket separately. Being that this booster is marketed towards both OTR Truckers and pickup trucks, there's even a picture of a Ram like mine on the front of the box and other pickups on the back, they really should have included some sort of bracket for pickups, maybe a universal one that can attach to a standard pickup truck bed, which is the kind I bought separately. Overall, this booster works and does what exactly what it says it can do. If you work out in remote areas, take road trips often, and especially if you live that RV lifestyle, this is practically a must buy.

I drive OTR and have more then ample room to spread it out, because you can't have the outside and inside antenna and the booster box close to each other per the directions. And I get at most 1 bar. I have Verizon from Verizon, not a secondary cell provider and at best I get one bar. Maybe it might work better with another provider, but as it stands this thing shouldn't be more then 150 dollars at best. I even have it set above the truck top. It's the big one next to the satellite radio antenna.

    Powerfully boosts cell signal

I have an older weBoost product for at-home usage, and that one does a great job increasing cell signal, so I am confident this new vehicle booster would also be great and last a long time. I genuinely enjoy this weBoost Drive Reach OTR, which works powerfully to boost cell signal. The booster is great for me since I travel in city and remote areas for both work and pleasure. The package includes everything needed to assemble into your vehicle: height-adjustable outside antenna, small indoor antenna, the booster device, and all wires. Make sure to get the top portion of the outdoor antenna canister above the vehicle roof and away from any cluttering cargo. Included is an optional spring base for the external mounting, which I think is suitable for when you will have some impact or wind resistance with the outside antenna. The mount is two heavy-duty plates designed to be mounted to a truck's headache rack. I used just the main mounting plate to attach it to the corner of my truck bed frame, just drilling four holes for the plate. In my situation, the installation was effortless, attaching the mount and running the cables inside the truck. The interior antenna looks somewhat directional, so you want mobile devices as near as possible, within a foot or few inches, for optional performance. It can handle multiple devices at once. I have used it for some time, and now I get faster data speeds, improved audio/video streaming, and better voice quality. I use a 5G phone, and the weBoost amplifies the signal on my phone while inside the truck. I did a speed test on my trips to different central and south Florida locations, especially off roads, remote areas, and the Everglades National Park. Without the booster, most of the time between cities, my phone received 4G signals and only a few bars. With the weBoost it was a super different experience, which now I received 5G a lot more, and in extremely remote locations, I had more full bars. The speed test showed that the booster always did improve both the download and upload. While there is a significant improvement in both, sometimes the download would be faster, and sometimes the upload would be faster. Now, I do not always leave the booster plugged in, especially when the vehicle off or the vehicle key is in the on position for a prolonged time because it might drain out the battery. I mostly use it for special situations like long trips, driving in rural areas, at a wilderness park, when I need faster speed, or when there is a weak signal. To conclude, I am satisfied with the weBooster; it does make a huge difference with both the download and upload speed. It does helps reach signals that are further away.

I've been excited to try this to see if the booting capabilities of this device are worth the price. There are some important things to know before you decide to jump on this booster. It is NOT going to magically bring signal to a place that there isn't signal to begin with. Your mobile carrier needs to have some signal in order to BOOST it to a faster and more useable connection. With that said, this antenna makes a difference. Please make sure you understand that it is a rather large antennae and you will need to mount it in a place that allows for it to be higher up on your truck/suv. Pros: -Omni directional antennae -Allows for multiple users to benefit from improved call quality, data speeds, and steaming. -5G capable for all US networks. -10% - 15% average increase in my tests. -Power supply has on/off switch at the outlet. -Everything included in the box to mount and use. (Not Really Cons; Just important things to take note) -May need to look at other mounting configurations depending on your rig, truck, suv. -Takes time to look into routing wiring from outside your rig, truck, suv, to the inside. Pre-plan in order to find the best way that works for you prior to putting it together. Truck- 2019 Toyota 4Runner Mounted on OEM roof rack with an adapter from Amazon. Routed antenna wire through rear hatch weather strip on passenger side. Wire continues inside of passenger side light panel. Currently placed the booster inside the trunk area tray. From booster to the interior antenna cable is ran through the trim and under the carpet to the passenger seat. Interior antenna is near the lower center arm rest.

TL;DR review: The weBoost Drive OTR is an expensive, effective (within its limits/constraints), USA made, booster that could bring you peace of mind to have. It is the most powerful consumer grade vehicle cellphone booster available from weBoost. It has excellent build quality and includes most all of what users will need for install aside from vehicle specific brackets, adapters, etc. It does appear in my limited experience thus far to be yielding improvements to my cell reception and data usage in remote areas. Long review: The weBoost Drive OTR is a high-quality built system that, likely in response to user reviews on the previous model, includes most all accessories one could need to effectively mount this device. On the previous discontinued model of this cellphone booster, many of the accessories included here had to be purchased separately. This model is best mounted to a semi-truck or an appropriately equipped passenger vehicle that has a roof rack, bed rack, or other custom mounting bracket option to be able to mount a half-inch bolt antenna assembly like this securely. This is NOT the SKU you are looking for if you are seeking a magnetic mounted outside antenna included in the package; this assembly will need to be bolted securely in some fashion to your vehicle. With this information in mind covered, here is my experience. I installed this antenna on my 2015 Toyota Tacoma crew cab SR5 4X4 4.0L V6. I was seeking a device to help me maintain cellular connection while on long road trips and in the outdoors on overland and hunting trips--delivering peace of mind that I would have improved cell reception in the event of an emergency or need to download an offline map on the go. I installed the outside antenna on a special antenna bracket adapter that attaches to my previously installed driver side ditch light bracket made by Cali Raised LED (see my pictures). To mount the outside antenna, I used the spring base, coax cable side-exit adapter, the 13" mast extension, included blue Loctite, and the nuts and washers mixed between the included 3-way mount and the spring base. The total height of my setup from mount to tip of the antenna is 26”. All of the listed accessories and more were included in this package. I felt this combination with the spring base was best as I wanted to ensure this antenna would clear my roof top for maximum reception, not be too tall, while having some give and flexibility to bend in a safe part of the assembly when it gets hit and pushed around by low branches etc. I don't have much concern about this happening as the antenna has an IP66 and MIL-STD-810 rating for weatherproof and impact performance, but it is important to do what you can to help prevent unneeded stresses to the antenna assembly as there could be other stress points in your mounting setup that could become an issue if they sustain repetitive or excessive forces. The spring base helps to absorb and dissipate the normal vibrations and movement caused by the road and wind while driving. I routed the outside antenna coax cable next to my hood hinge into my engine compartment and pulled the cable through my firewall into my engine compartment--zip-tying and tucking away the excess neatly in the engine compartment as this cable is LONG at 16ft. I installed the Drive Reach OTR cellular amplifier under my seat using the included sticky-backed Velcro strip. This securely mounted the snap-on base of the module under my seat to the carpet without any sliding or other issues so far. The inside antenna I mounted on the driver side center console using the double-sided adhesive strip; adhering to the instructions of ideal distance from where your phone(s) will be used in the vehicle and keeping plenty of distance from the outside antenna to prevent oscillation of the signals. The cigarette plug 12V DC power adapter was plugged into my 12V DC outlet and I also routed that cable underneath the center console trim to keep it neat and tidy. With some careful cable management and neat tucking away of all of the cables, I managed a clean install and got the "green light" on the module, indicating that it is working per the manufacturer. Now, the big reveal, how is it working? Well, that is where it this review gets difficult for me. It appears to be helping somewhat with increasing my phone call quality and reception while I am out in the woods away from civilization, but it is not producing the staggering night and day differences in data speed etc. I had, admittedly ignorantly, hoped for. To test it, I placed a call to a family member while I was out in area with poor reception with this module turned on and with it turned off to compare the quality. The person I called stated that they heard a difference in my voice call with less static and popping noises when I was using the weBoost. In trying to gather objective data, I downloaded the Speed Test app to my iPhone App to see if there was a difference in the download and upload mbps speed with this device. My results were inconclusive as it seemed like my results were the same whether I had it turned on or not. When I drove out into the woods and lost all but a bar or two on extended network collection, I was unable to initiate the speed test whether I had the weBoost turned on or not. Keep in mind, I have followed all manufacturer instructions for install and I ensure the device had the solid green light on indicating that it was working. WeBoost advises that bars on your phones screen are not the preferred method for effectively measuring the performance of this device. Some reviewers have stated that they noticed increased bars with the use of this device, I did not notice this myself. One situation in which I really recognized an improvement with this device was utilizing the hotspot on my iPhone 8 to browse the internet on my Macbook Pro while at my grandpa’s house. He lives in area that gives spotty cell reception at best; one of those places you walk around the house trying to get a good signal so you can make a call. When I brought my laptop over to help him research some building supplies, I utilized the weBoost in my truck. It really was about a noticeable difference in the load time of web pages and the snappiness of the interactions with the pages I was on. One other topic I wanted to address was making sure to register this with your wireless network provider. I followed the instructions in the included installation guide booklet (pages 13 and 14) to register my booster with Verizon. The information needed, including the FCC ID for the device was on page 16 of the booklet; you also want to be sure to have your serial number on hand for the device. The process took me less than 5 minutes and keeps in compliance with the usage of such a device. Overall, this is an expensive, occasionally but not entirely effective, piece of hardware that could bring you peace of mind in remote regions. I see the decision of this purchase being relative to how much you operate in remote areas or on long stretches of highway across large regions away from good cell tower reception. For once a season trip-takers, I feel like this wouldn't yield a good cost/benefit ratio. For truck drivers or overlanders who are on the road all the time traversing through all sorts of remote or poorly connected areas, I think that the potential benefits this Drive Reach OTR booster has to increase connectivity and reception would be worth it. Thanks for reading my review! I hope it helps give another picture of what this package weBoost is offering is like!

Super easy to install in new 2021 Tacoma Pickup, however you may need a mounting bracket for use on an SUV. We travel down from New Bern, NC to Charleston, SC - through Myrtle Beach monthly, and we USED to hit many cell dead spots til we got our truck kitted with this weBoost 472154 signal booster. We use our phones to stream Spotify mostly these days when travelling, and would be lucky if we had strong enough signal to do that and navigate using google maps. Now, we are totally able to make the trip uninterrupted with no slow data speeds/drops - so much so that last weekend the kids used up so much of our data streaming youtube/netflix/etc on our “Unlimited data” plan, that we got throttled by the carrier! Not sure if there are stronger models/bigger antennas for OTR 18-wheeler truckers - but if you have a pickup and travel enough where slow internet data speeds, breaking up or cropped calls is problematic - this is 100% the answer. We plan on getting a camper too, and this will be a godsend. Thanks weBoost!

    A Much-Needed Boost

My husband is an over-the-road truck driver. He uses AT&T as his cell provider, while I use Verizon here at home. On any given day, my phone connection is more reliable and stable than his. Of course, several factors contribute to this, most specifically where he happens to be in the country, the terrain of the land, weather conditions, number of available cell towers, etc. This is something the both of us have gotten used to dealing with over these many years, with dropped calls being one thing, but his having no connection at all, being the most inconvenient and frustrating. And so, we were excited to be given the chance to try out this WeBoost Drive Reach OTR cell signal booster for trucks, and review our shared experience with regards to how well it worked (or didn’t) for us.* I was in the truck during installation, assisting with the process from start to finish. Fortunately, the instructions were detailed enough. Plus, (nearly) everything you will need is included with the device itself. Installing the cell signal booster turned out to be less problematic than we had initially anticipated. All-in-all, it took about an hour to get the whole system installed. Most of that was the outside antenna and making sure all the cables were secure and tucked away. My husband likes a neat and clean looking, well-organized truck, especially when it comes to placement of his many electronic devices to insure they are within easy reach. He uses a single antenna for his CB Radio, so was able to use the pre-existing mount on the passenger side mirror along with the spring mount provided with the antenna. This WeBoost came with everything but the screws to mount the bracket that holds the main unit. Take into consideration what’s on the other side of where you’re mounting the bracket, when deciding the length of screws. We used both pieces of the antenna rod to get the most height for the best possible signal. The cable for the antenna runs right down through the center of the rod. No one is stealing this antenna without rendering it useless to them. Lock tight is included for a good weather seal and added security and vibration control where the antenna rods screw together. The antenna can be set up with four different heights depending on your needs. The inside antenna is supposed to be no closer then 18’’ and no more then 36’’ away from your phone. The overhead visor area worked out perfect with my husband’s on-dashboard phone mount. The power supply that plugs into your 12v power supply has a USB plug, so you can charge other items if need be. There is a light on top to let you know that the unit is supplying power to your system. The power switch will disconnect the power to the USB port and to the booster. So far how has this cell signal booster performed? Well, my husband has been told by people who he regularly talks to that his audio quality seems to be louder, and he’s definitely seen an improvement in his signal strength in areas that were always iffy. While my husband was on a call with me as he was going over the mountains (one of those occasions when we would routinely lose connection as the call gets dropped), it took longer for the call to be dropped, and this happened less frequently so could simply be a result of changing cell towers as he was driving. Yet for how well this WeBoost Drive Reach OTR for trucks will perform over the ‘long haul’ will remain to be seen. I will say, that the cost does seem a tad pricy, even though the unit comes with basically all the items necessary for installation. *(I received this item in exchange for an honest review.)

This weboost really dose boost your cellular Signal. And it works for everyone in the car. Comes with everything you need to install. I did order a separate mounting bracket for my truck so that it wouldn’t interfere with my tonnele cover. The install took me about an hour to run and hide all of the wires under the carpet. Although the cable can be run so the door closes on it I didn’t want to see the wire. So I ran it under the truck cab and up though a drain plug. It’s a nice clean install. So far I have only used it down town. Some of the spots where I park I use to get bad reception due to surrounding buildings I think. But with this booster I could see one to two bars more of signal. This will definitely help with drop calls and Internet speed. I am very happy with this unit so far. I added some before and after photos of my signal strength. It’s a difference you can see

weBoost - Drive Reach OTR Model:472154 SKU:6442614 The unit tested worked as advertised in all functions except noted. Unit has a quality heavy duty feel. Detailed user evaluation: Unit does a modest quality boost to signals. This unit will not change the quality of a 4 bar cell phone signal. Best use is with 1-2 bars. Customer service was outstanding. Recommendations for unit: Use only in an enclosed space. Widely separate the outside antennae and inside transmitter. Testing notes: Will test this on a larger vehicle next week. Without a DB measuring device it is impossible to properly test this unit on specifications. Downloads and uploads vary with time of day, location, and test environment. Cell tower signal bar strength vary and are impossible to accurately test due to constantly changing conditions. Unit needs to be in an enclosed area. Just shutting the truck door made a big difference. Published specifications in the manual show a modest 5 DB boost. This is adequate in most situations. The booster works very good. My house is about 1800 sq/ft. My desk is in the living room and I was only getting 1 bar on my Motorola phone; 40 feet away out on my patio I can get 3 bars. The permanent location of the booster is on top of the cabinets in my kitchen, about 20 feet from my desk. I now have 5 bars on my phone and 4 in my bedroom, where I previously had only 1 bar. The unit works as described. The cell tower website is listed in the instructions showed that the tower doesn't point in my direction, that's why my service is so bad. I have an AV installation background so I'm trying to provide details for a novice to have an easier installation. I used a satellite dish mount left over from a previous owner; took off the dish and used the pole; worked great. I can see the cell tower from my house; about 1 mile away. The cable included with the unit is RG6, a standard cable used for cable and satellite service in homes build since the 1990's, so if your house is pre-wired for satellite service you can use that cable. I was careful to make sure the outside and inside antenna's are far enough apart and that they don't point toward each other; mine are about 30 feet apart. If you look carefully at the instructions you can see the shape of the inside antenna determines what direction it's pointing. From reading many online reviews that is the only thing I can think of that someone could do wrong that would create a problem. I hooked the equipment up and ran the cable in through a door to check the signal before doing the final installation. Regarding the instructions, there is very little said about what should happen when you power this thing up. So here's what happens: when you plug in the power after a few seconds all the lights will come on solid, after another few seconds the the lights will flash as the unit goes through an internal diagnostic test; then the lights will progressively go off as each frequency clears a check. When it's done the light for each band that is good will be off. I had no need for tech support so I can't give it any stars. Easy to install, well that depends on your experience. The unit itself is easy to install you just have to screw in the cable and the antenna. Getting the cable from the outside antenna to your equipment location would be your biggest consideration. I suggest doing your home work to see where your outside antenna needs to be and where you want to put the booster inside your house. Consider that you will need an electrical outlet at the inside location. I used this site www.cellmapper.net/map to see the cell service near my house. You can select your service provider and see their towers and the coverage they provide.

When looking at what came inside the box, it looked a little intimidating. However, after removing all the components, installation and set up was super easy. I installed this on a pick-up, so a slight modification was made to the bracket, but overall this was super easy to install. The hardest part was contacting my service provider to register the booster. Now for testing, I was using an iPhone 12 to test, so I took a road trip, and where I normally either have no service what so ever or have very little service, my cell phone signal never dropped below three bars. Overall I'm impressed and happy with the cell phone signal booster.

This booster did a great job while I wandered through the remote areas around Moab, UT. Those reviewing this device saying it doesn’t work must not have it installed correctly. Not entirely their fault, as it’s kind of difficult to get clear instruction on how to get the most out of this device. First; you want to make sure the two antennas are as far apart as you can get them. Further = better. On my Jeep Wrangler, I installed the external antenna out back on my tire carrier, and the internal antenna right on my phone holder on the dash. From the install instructions, vertical separation is better than horizontal, but as long as you keep them as distant from each other as possible you’ll be alright. Second; you’ll want the internal antenna as close to your device as possible. The reason is because if the external antenna starts picking up the signal from the internal antenna, you get what’s called oscillation, which is bad. To combat this, the device will reduce the output of the internal antenna until the external antenna no longer picks up the internal antennas signal. This means that the output distance of the internal antenna could drop from the max 2ft to only a few inches. I’ve gone from good signal to zero signal just by removing my phone from its dash cradle which is right on top of the internal antenna. Third; make sure the amplifier(booster) has plenty of airflow. This thing gets WARM, as the entire body is essentially a heat sink. Electronics don’t like excessive heat and reduce their performance when they get too hot. Fourth; you may have to toggle airplane mode on your phone after switching this booster on. Cell phones will usually reduce the number of connection attempts to cell towers if there’s no signal, so as to conserve battery (same with WiFi, it costs power to keep searching for a signal). Turning airplane mode on and back off “resets” these antennas to start searching again. Fifth and finally; be aware this device advertises that it’ll do a max boost of 40db of signal. Basically, this device most commonly will boost you up 1-2 bars on top of what is available. It all depends on what cell towers it can find, and how strong a signal that tower is outputting. If it can’t find any, you’ll get zero signal even with this device. I’ve had instances where I went from 1-2 bars to full 5, and others where I went from zero bars to 1 or 2. Overall this is worth it if you want your best bet of staying connected while out in remote places. Whether that convenience is worth what this device costs - is entirely up to you. As far as installation and use go, install is incredibly easy as it’s all plug and play and comes with everything you need, just be sure to keep in mind the above points. There is a small adapter (included) that needs to be installed on the external antenna cable to connect to the device, but that was literally the hardest part of my install. Usage is super simple; plug in to the cigarette lighter and flip the switch to ON. Wait for the light to turn solid green and you’re all set. If you get stuck on flashing green/red, power the device off, wait a few, and try again.

Works as advertised. This is a signal booster not a signal creator. I work in the middle of nowhere most of the time and it definitely helps where signal is weak.

Assembly was fairly easy. At first we were worried about being able to tell if it was actually working to boost signal to our phones, but since we have had it for about a month we have definitely been able to see a difference. We are very happy with our purchase. Worth every penny!

So far good product. You do have to understand how a cell booster works or you’ll be otherwise confused. Watch plenty of YouTube reviews to determine which model of booster best fits your needs. Installation takes less than 20 minutes if you’re not trying to run and hide wires and make it look pretty. I just simply routed mine through the door and called it good.

It worked fairly well when I noticed cellular signal drop between SW Texas going bk and forth to New Mexico desert and being out in the far areas of oilwell sites. I tried it with and w/o the booster to ensure I was boosting my Verizon signal. It only went up a bar but considering it is struggling with the lay of the land in that area it still did well enough. The indoor antenna connector is flimsy and can break inside the wire shielding as well as slip out of the connector, cheap crimp from factory. The outdoor antenna has the same connection issue and poor quality build. I'd either tape that wire going into the connector or secure it another way bc it is fragile. I didnt get to permanantly mount it bc it was always in a work truck and i had to suffer door squeeze on my larger outside antenna wire. You can send it in under warranty i hope.
