My office has recessed lighting that was way too bright for night time. I wanted a dimmer that I could also control from my phone so I went with the WEMO smart dimmer. This thing has been awesome! The dimmer is really easy to use by just sliding your finger up or down. Turning it on and off requires much less force than I originally thought. After realizing you only need to tap it, it makes the experience even better. I use iPhone so I set the light up with apple homekit. Whenever I need to change my light I can just ask siri or open my control center and change it in seconds. Setup was fairly easy but just make sure you kill the power where you are working and have some electrical knowledge. I highly recommend this dimmer to anyone who enjoys tech in their home.

    WeMo WiFi Smart Dimmer

I bought two of these to replace two previous-generation WeMo wall dimmers in my home. The prior devices would pretty regularly lose connectivity with WiFi and (therefore) the app. Thus far, these new-generation devices have not exhibited that problem. They were easy to install because I'd already sorted out and labeled the requisite four wire attachments needed for each unit in my wall switch box. If you've never installed a WeMo switch before, note that you must identify both the Common and the Ground wires, as well as the two powered wires. The installation instructions really help in identifying these though. The only reason I'm not raving about these switches is that our general frustration with WeMo has reached a point where we're transitioning our house away from WeMo to Kasa devices. The customer service for WeMo has been VERY unhelpful with troubleshooting a variety of programming and connectivity issues we've had. The WeMo user forums have been much more helpful, but even on those, a considerable number of customers are saying they've had it with WeMo. It was on such a forum that we learned about Kasa. So, yes, this device is good and may reflect that WeMo is finally getting their act together, but overall, we're moving on.

Awesome product. Installation was easy and works great, but it does have some quirks. For example, setting the brightness to 100% makes the light turn completely off, but if I set it to 99%, the light appears to be at peak brightness. Same thing happens below 10%, it just shuts off. If it weren’t for those strange quirks, I would rate 5 stars. No bridge or hub required to work with HomeKit which is a great feature.

Verdict: This Wemo dimmer switch was easy to install and works flawlessly. Most importantly for us, it looks amazing: it is sleek, modern, and functional. We ordered 5 more of these for the house. Initial impressions. The switch is very nicely designed. It comes with a VERY nice instructional pamphlet. I have installed a lot of smart switches over the last few years, and typically the instructions are not user-friendly. In this case, the instructions are as good as it gets. I do not like the cover that came with the switch… it’s too modern for our house, so I paired it with an architectural cover (see pictures). The thickness of the switch is smaller than other switches I have used; this makes fitting the switch into the wall casing easier. Physical Setup. For your safety, make sure that you cut the power before doing electric work. The instructions make installation easy, assuming you have a neutral wire. I am not sure what is the recourse if you don’t have a neutral wire. The switch came with four twist-on wire connectors for convenience. Installation took just 10 minutes. App. I installed the switch through the Wemo app. It was a smooth process with no glitches. I really like the long-press customization option. Once I install additional Wemo switches, I plan to setup different actions on different switches with the long-press option. Once installed, the switch automatically populated to the Apple Home app and to the Alexa app. I was able to use it right away on our echo. Operation. The switch takes a fraction of a second to turn on the light when pressed, which is normal with Wi-Fi switches. It has a nice tactile feel. I love that the color of the LED is white, rather than another color. The dimmer function works well and is easy to use. I like that the light remembers the last brightness setting it was on. Things I like: - It looks sleek and modern, and it can look good in any environment with just a switch of the cover (see picture) - Physical installation was easy to follow, thanks to the great instructions - Installation through the app was easy, and the app works well - The switch worked immediately with voice assistants - Dimming is smooth; we have not seen any flickering - The light smoothly dims on and off Things I don’t like: - I wish the app was more powerful, but this is easily remediated through the use of other apps from your voice assistant Overall, this is a fantastic switch. It works the way we want, and it looks amazing. We highly recommend this Wemo dimmable switch.

Its big and bulky, you need to have a lot of room also one of it is defective (lost wifi signal, top 3 led not lit, flickering, etc). Wemo support is a joke, they close the case automatically after certain time.

I'm a big fan of smart lighting, but don't pretend to be an electrician, so I've become quite the collector of smart bulbs, which work really well! It's just not practical to replace all of the bulbs in my home, like my dining room chandelier, so I wanted a smart switch, I was just too chicken to mess with the electrical wiring myself. I finally took the plunge with this WEMO and plan on adding more! This setup was so easy, I cut the power, removed my old switch, used the included labels to mark the wires and simply matched them to the WEMO. I was 99% sure that I did that all correctly, but still, I flipped the power back on before I attached the switch to the wall, and voila, there was light! I screwed it in, put the wall plate on and proceeded to download the WEMO app. The setup on the app was simple, as well as linking the switch to Home Kit, Google and Alexa. The voice commands work perfectly as does the app. This is the brightest light I have in my main area and love that I can dim it remotely now.You can even program a vacation mode that will turn the lights on and off from a schedule to make it seem like I'm home. This was so easy and works so well that I will definitely add some more of these switches throughout my home.

I like the utility of Belkin's Wemo switches because they're one of the best choices for adding smart home functionality without having to worry about buying new bulbs or a new light fixture. I have 2 original Wemo switches controlling our front patio and garage lights and have had no issues with them. We bought a new house and the formal dining room had a really nice light fixture that we wanted to keep, but we wanted to add a dimming function to it and be able to control it with our Alexa / Google Home / HomeKit set up. Opting for a Wemo dimmer was the logical, and cheaper choice than making each bulb a smart bulb. If you're familiar with dimmer switches, they can be deceptive - especially if you're replacing a simple, single toggle switch. Most time, especially if they were put in by the builder, single toggle switches use a very small mounting box, and getting a dimmer switch to fit can be a squeeze with the extra backing on the switch and the wires in the wall. I'll say that again - this is a thick unit on the back - so don't be surprised if it's a tight fit and you find yourself pushing on it to screw in the mounting screws into the wall box. Belkin's Dimmer switch is about the same size as most other dimmer switches that I've seen in terms of depth - and as with any WiFi enabled device, you cannot install it without a WHITE / Neutral wire in the wall. Most newer homes have them, if you don't you'll need to check with an electrician if adding something like this is doable. Installing the Wemo switch was fairly straightforward. Remove the old switch from the wall, check the wires to ID the lead from the switch, kill the power at the breaker box, install the new switch, restore power and boom - you're done. I've replaced several lighting switches and fixtures before, so this whole process took maybe 10 minutes for me from start to finish. Once the switch is installed, you'll use Wemo's app to walkthrough the setup and complete HomeKit setup. If you use Google Assistant or Alexa, you'll need to refresh your Wemo account in those apps for them to pick up the new light. The switch itself is clean and well designed. It uses capacitive touch to adjust the lighting levels, which is a nice touch. The power button is clearly visible and provides a satisfying click when pressed. If you're in the market for a dimmer and are wanting to get into a smart home project, I recommend the Wemo Dimmer switch. Only reason I took off a star from the rating was that the cover plate they send with it required some playing with to get it off and then I had to use the palm of my hand to pop it back on once I had the switch in the wall.

    Nice Smart Home Device Addition

THE BREAKDOWN: I have a lot of smart devices, but this is the first smart switch. I have to say it is a nice addition to my smart home devices. The packaging was well done and compact. In the box you get the faceplate, the switch itself, 4 wire nuts and an instruction booklet. Installing the switch was pretty straightforward, just know that if you have a single pole switch box that is older you will need some room for the new to fit. Mine was very snug but it worked. If happen to wire the load and line backwards and there is no power initially just reverse the wires and you will be good to go. After the physical installation is complete you need to pull up your own WiFi and connect to the Wemo switch. I did not know this until I did some research. Once you connect it you download the Wemo app and follow the guided instructions. It doesn’t take that long. It tests the lights and the dimming ability and then it is good to go. There is also a button at the bottom of the switch itself that will restart, reset or reset Wi-Fi. The Wemo app is pretty straight forward. You can set a sleep timer, night mode or create rules. Super simple easy to use. Overall, I am very pleased with this device. It was easy to install, and it has a very modern clean look. PRO’s: -Easy to install -Very modern and sleek looking -Easy to use on the physical switch and the app CON’s: -Installation can be tricky if you are not handy -The included instructions could use an update SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked well and as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this.

I have owned a number of smart switches from various manufacturers over the years to varying degrees of success. I have to say I am most happy with this WEMO smart dimmer. To start, the packaging is unassuming, a small box with just the switch, faceplate and very limited documentation (just enough to get the switch wired). The faceplate can be removed from the switch in case you are installing it in a location that uses an existing multi-switch faceplate. The switch is a standard rectangle switch size so it will easily fit in an existing faceplate if you prefer. Wiring is straightforward as well, although one difference between this switch and some others I've used is that it has specific 'load' and 'line' (hot) wires. If you wire it in reverse, it will not power on. In addition, as with all recent smart switches, this one requires a neutral wire. In newer homes this should not be a problem, but in older houses it may be. Again, this is common on smart switches, so I expected this. The wiring in my house does include a neutral wire. Once it was installed and I turned the power back on, I loaded the WEMO app and went through setup. It, of course, uses the method for setup where your phone attempts to connect to the local hotspot sent by the switch for initial setup. And as always, my S10+ did not automatically switch, however the app does recognize this and lets you manually connect if the automatic does not work. Once the app recognizes it is connected to your WEMO switch, it lets you select the AP and pushes the WIFI config down to the switch. And you're finished. When off, there is a very light glow to the power ring on the switch so you can find it in the dark, and when on it has a series of LEDs that turn on based on the level of dimming. I went one step further and integrated my WEMO to my Alexa devices which went without issue, it simply asks you to login to your Amazon account through the WEMO app. It immediately appeared in the Alexa app and I was able to integrate it into a routine to turn on and off the lights on a timer, as well as automatically adjust the dimmer. Overall I've been very happy with the look and configuration of the switch. It'd be nice if it used NFC instead of local hotspot for initial config, but that's getting nitpicky. If you're looking for a well featured smart dimmer with minimal hassle, this really is the one.

Installed two dimmers on two different circuits. Both dimmers after a few hours start to flicker and pulse. I’ve reset the dimmers and now one dimmer will recognize in Apple HomeKit. And not in the Wemo app. Frustrating. I called customer service twice. On hold for 40 min each time b4 giving up. Posted on FB they said pm them. No response 8 hours later. Now I know why people get the bulbs. After rewiring 4 3ways to accommodate there switches.

Add a finger slide control to this model of the Wemo by Belkin lineup, currently $40 at Best Buy. Wemo Smart Dimmer light switch is a replacement for existing wall switches that are not on three-way circuits. The switch can control all incandescent bulbs, dimmable CFLs and dimmable LEDs. This is a good time to update bulbs that are not dimmable LEDs. Once in place, instructions call for using your phone to scan a code on the back of the switch. The code sends users to either the Home app on iOS or Alexa on Android phones. Alexa voice control can be added to iOS phones and iPads. Touch control at the switch provides ON/OFF and dimming with finger slide up and down on the switch. Very cool! Through the apps, users can set ON and OFF times, with dim levels as well as daily programming. The switch installs with the ease in place of any existing, standard wall switch. The installed wall plate is easily removed for access to the mounting screws attaching the switch to the wall box. This plate is not used when the switch shares a box with other switches. In single switch installations the wall plate provides a stylish finishing look. There are four wires – Line, Load, Neutral and Ground, typical for house wiring in most installations. If your wiring is different or if you are not comfortable with such installations and the cautions involved, such as turning off power to that switch, seek professional advice. On the other hand, this is a good opportunity to learn how easy it is to replace a switch. The easy-to-follow instructions guide users to a successful outcome, including the most important step – linking to Wi-Fi for the control of lights turned on and off with this switch. The switch uses the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band, so be sure your phone used for setup is connected to the 2.4 GHz side of your Wi-Fi and not the 5.0 GHz band. This requires users to know the difference and to connect accordingly. It cannot be overstated that this is EASY. If it appears difficult at the outset, this is a good opportunity to learn about your Wi-Fi. Your router, assuming it is newer than about five years, has both bands. Check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) if needed, or ask a friend to show you how to access the 2.4 GHz band needed for this setup. Once setup is completed and the standard ON and OFF commands are accessible from the mobile device, all the other capabilities are available. Use the app for convenience and security settings and programming depending upon which lights are to be controlled with your Wemo. Set ON, OFF, Dim levels for the front door. For example, ON at 100% at dusk, Dim to 50% from midnight to dawn, then OFF. For a switch that controls several lights in the dining area, use the app to manually turn ON, Dim to 20% to set the mood at dinner. For a wall switch in a bedroom, use the app to control lighting from bed. NEVER have to get out of bed to turn out the lights. Because this smart wall switch is Wi-Fi controlled, it can be accessed from anywhere, whether at home or on the other side of the globe. The greatest convenience is that lighting control is as close as the phone within constant reach. Wemo Smart Wall Switch cannot control smart bulbs. Many smart bulbs allow color change as well as dimming. Choose your objective before purchase. For color-directed mood lighting, get smart LEDs to do that job. ONE Wemo Smart Wall Switch can control as many lights as are on the circuit to be controlled, within the limits of its capacity of 400 ACTUAL watts or 250 watts for a multi-switch box. With modern and efficient LEDs, there is a lot of headroom here. Simple, convenient programmable control is what this switch is all about. The Wemo brand is solid. Backed by Belkin’s THREE YEAR warranty, I am confident in recommending this and all the Wemo smart switches from Belkin.

I have several Wemo products in my house and have been very satisfied with them. Wemo products have lots of great features and integrations, better than most other options on the market. HomeKit is the integration that I use the most, and this dimmer has built in HomeKit integration. Overall, this is a great dimmer that has some great features! Be advised that if you are installing this yourself, there are a few things you are going to need to install it. For the installation, you are going to want to have a wire stripper and it would also be a good idea to have a wire tester. You could do this without a wire tester, but would need to be very careful to ensure that power is cut to the wall switch you will be replacing before touching any wires. You will also need a white neutral wire in the receptacle where you will be installing your switch. The setup guide has detailed instructions that are very helpful and straightforward for installing this. I have installed several Wemo light switches and do not have any electrical experience, so anyone can install this as long as you have the proper tools to do so. Again, you want to be sure to be safe and careful and cut electricity before touching any wires. There are some cases when I have installed Wemo light switches in the past where the wiring was a bit more complicated than others, but so far I have always been able to get them installed successfully. I did have some big issues when I initially tried to set up this device. When scanning the HomeKit code, my phone could not find the device. I tried pretty much every possible fix (resetting the switch, rebooting my phone, rebooting my wifi, etc.) and it would not work! When selecting “Add Accessory” in the HomeKit app and trying the option “I Don’t Have a Code or Cannot Scan”, it was not finding the dimmer there also. Fortunately, I reached out to Wemo support and they escalated the issue to their Tier 3 support. A few days later, my phone was then showing the dimmer after selecting the “I Don’t Have a Code or Cannot Scan” option. I was then able to add it to HomeKit. Tier 3 support confirmed that the engineering team was aware of the issue and it appears to be fixed now. They said this likely occurred because this is a newly released dimmer and there was a bug in the firmware. After the issue was fixed, I did go into the Wemo app and check the firmware version on my dimmer. It does appear that the support team likely pushed a firmware update to my dimmer because the version has changed from what it was when I first got the device. The version I now have with HomeKit working is WEMO_WW_2.00.20102800.PVT-RTOS-DimmerV2. HomeKit Setup Process (iPhone and iPad users): If you are attempting to set up this device via HomeKit, I would recommend setting it up through the Wemo app, not the Home app. If you open the Wemo app and hit the + at the top right, it will take you through the HomeKit setup process and also help you test and configure your dimmer to the proper type of bulbs that will be connected to it (LED, CFL, or Incandescent). If you do it through the Home app, it won't prompt you to do test the settings for the type of bulbs you are using, which is a good idea. You can also go do this later in the Wemo app if you do the initial setup through the Home app. If you run into issues adding the device to HomeKit and keep getting an error message saying “Accessory Not Found - Make sure your accessory is powered on and nearby, then try again”, your unit could be running the early firmware that mine came with which was not working with HomeKit. In this case, you can add the device to your WiFi without HomeKit through the Wemo app and update the firmware following the steps below (this only applies to Apple iPhone and iPad users): 1. Ensure you have the Wemo app on your device 2. Go to the Settings app and WiFi settings 3. Select the Wemo Dimmer WiFi network (Wemo.Dim2G.XXX) - if HomeKit isn’t working right on your dimmer, it likely will show on WiFi settings under “Networks” and not under “Set Up New Device…”. Now that HomeKit is working for me, I reset the device and confirmed it is now showing under “Set Up New Device…” which indicates your iPhone recognizes it as a HomeKit device. 4. Once you have connected to the WiFi network for your dimmer and see a check mark, wait a minute or two for the WiFi symbol to show up in the top right. Once it showing, then proceed to the next step. 5. Open the Wemo app and follow the prompts to set up your device and connect it to WiFi. 6. Once it is set up and you are in the Wemo app, you can attempt to update the firmware. 7. To check for a firmware update, go to “More” at the bottom right, and select “Firmware Update”. If there is an update, update your dimmer. 8. You should now be able to add your dimmer to HomeKit. You can do this by either going into the Home app and adding your dimmer by selecting the + at the top right, selecting “Add Accessory” and either scanning the HomeKit code, or if that doesn’t work, select “I Don’t Have a Code or Cannot Scan” and manually typing in the code. 9. The other option is to factory reset your dimmer now that the firmware is updated, select the + in the Wemo app in the top right, scan the HomeKit code, and follow all prompts. I had some issues with manually typing in the code not working right after resetting, but scanning the code worked properly. The HomeKit setup process and the setup process in general can sometimes be a bit finicky, but with trying a few different things and trying some things multiple times, you should be able to get the device set up. Once you have it connected to your WiFi and added to HomeKit, they usually work pretty well from there. The initial setup can be a bit frustrating and finicky, but once that is done, these devices work well. I would definitely recommend this dimmer to those looking for a WiFi connected dimmer! This dimmer looks sleek and works well once set up, especially since it has HomeKit integration (for those who have Apple devices).

This smart dimmer was a little intimidating to me in initially. I'm not too versed with electrical stuff. However, once I opened the box and looked at the in depth instructions I was put at ease. The super easy to read instructions gave me the courage I needed to install this myself. Once it was installed I synched to my smart device and have been using it ever since. Please keep in mind that this switch does not work with 3-way switches. Take your time, do it right and get it synched to your smart device and you will be good to go! Pretty straight forward.

    Sleek Smart Dimmer Switch

So this is a fairly simple review as this is a Dimmer switch replacement for a normal switch in your house. This is a very sleek and good looking switch, also appears to be well made. Installation guide was very well done. They even give you stickers to label the wires after you determine your load and line wires. This is key because the wires on the dimmer are very clearly colored. My previous dimmer only had the two black wires and no way to tell which one. I did have a meter to use as the manual says. You really do need one if you are going to be sure. Once I identified my Load and Line wires, I labeled them, cut the power back off at the breaker and hooked up the switch. Pretty straight forward. Light was blinking as indicated in the manual. I loaded the app, created a sign in and began the process to connect to my wifi. This took many times. In all fairness, I do have a mesh network which does support 2.4 & 5ghz however I have noticed that devices that use 2.4 sometimes have difficulty first getting attached to the wifi vs. the 5ghz supported devices. Once connected, I could control it clearly in the app, on/off, dimming..etc. There is also a timer function that will fade/dim over a time you set. That might be nice for a bedroom but I put this on my Dining Room. I then went into Alexa and loaded the Wemo skill into Alexa, it found the device but I still had issues. Alexa kept saying that “Dining Room doesn’t support that” when I would try and do anything. I finally found the issue. I had named the switch “Dining Room”, after going through all my devices, I found that my Sonos Dining Room Speaker ( also named Dining Room) was there. That is why it would say it was not supported. I went back into the Wemo app and renamed it Dining Light and Alexa picked that up and all was well. I can control off/on and dim from Alexa or the app. Overall, I really like this switch and knowing what I know now, I could get it done in half the time. I would recommend this to anyone!

I was really pleased to see some clearly written, detailed installation instructions for the Wemo Smart Dimmer switch. I know nothing about electricity but felt good about putting this switch in my wall. It also works really well. I did have to call customer support to help me get it hooked up to my internet (I have a lot of other Wemo devices and never had a problem with them). I actually had to put my phone in Airplane mode to get this device to connect (long story). I'm very pleased with it and it is controlled with Alexa to turn on and/or change the lighting. Great device and great instructions. You also adjust the switch to the bulbs you are using to make sure everything works perfectly.

This item was a breeze to setup. You need to make sure you have a neutral wire for this to work. I used this to control recessed LED lights. This switch while slightly pricey allows you to dim your lights not just turn off and on. The design is gorgeous and simple. HomeKit pairing was a breeze and it’s awesome to control with Siri.

I bought four Belkin WeMo dimmers to replace four 15-year old Aube timer switches that control my outdoor lighting. The dimmers were easy to install (though I had some wiring issues listed below) and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for smart dimmers. However, I had to go through some pain to get them to work, and I am listing out the problems below so buyers know what to expect. First, the positives 1) The WeMo app is well laid out and allows calibration so that bulbs do not flicker (the dimmer allows use of incandescent, CFL and LED bulbs) . This was important to me since my LED bulbs started flickering around 85-100% intensity. 2) Rules are easy to set and allow you to turn lights on or off around sunset / sunrise etc. 3) Tech support is amazing…they helped me twice when I was unable to connect my WiFi to the WeMo dimmer. They are open 24/7 at 844-745-9366. 4) The dimmers can be controlled by either the Apple Home app or the WeMo app. However, even if you are using the Apple Home app, you still need to retain the WeMo app on your phone since firmware updates can only be done via the WeMo app. So, my preference is to simply use the WeMo app. The negatives: 1) Of the four dimmers that I installed, one had wires that were WRONGLY labeled. Specifically, the Line (black) wire was labeled Load, and the Load (red) wire was labeled Line. I realized this after I wired the dimmer and found that it was not working (there was no sign of life). Upon switching the wires, the dimmer sprang to life. I would not expect a well-known company such as Belkin to make such a mistake. 2) If you have a mesh network that automatically switches between 2.4GHz and 5GHz, your WeMo may not connect to Wifi easily. This is because it can only connect to a 2.4GHz network. I had trouble getting it to connect on Google Mesh and, after talking to tech support twice, I jotted down the following troubleshooting tips: 1. After the dimmer has been installed, for the first 15 minutes it can be only detected by the Apple Home app (not by the WeMo app). Problem is if you have a mesh network, Apple Home app may not be able to detect a 2.4GHz signal to connect to. 2. If you are unable to connect via the Apple Home app, wait for 15 minutes, after which the WeMo dimmer will let go of the HomeKit app…allowing you to then detect it using the WeMo app. 1. Go to settings - wifi and connect to WeMo network. 2. Open the WeMo app and it will automatically detect the new dimmer switch. 3. You may now delete the Apple HomeKit app if you so desire, and simply use the WeMo app for setting up rules.

Makes life more efficient, but not for fans

I originally got this for my fan/light in my bedroom. It took me a while to install, but I eventually got it to work. However, the fan now made a loud humming noise. After researching I found out that a dimmer switch is generally jot good for fans unless the fan is designed for it. I installed it in another room and it works fine. Occasionally ‘hey Siri’ has trouble connecting to it, but overall it’s good. I think the value is worth it, and it’s convenient to be able to turn on/off my lights via an app or my voice (using Siri). It also integrates well with other Wemo products. For example, I have a long press on the switch to operate a Wemo plug that I use for a lamp.

Wouldn't Advise for a Ceiling Fan, Great for Light

I attempted to use this for a purpose it is not intended for. I wired this to a ceiling fan and although it worked, the ceiling fan had a hum to it. The fan was in our master bedroom so I didnt care to hear the noise at night. The hum was not present when the switch was set to 100% and we typically leave the fan on one setting so I replaced it with a Wemo standard switch. Moved this to a light fixture that has LEDS and works perfect. The setup in the app asks what type of bulb you are using to be able to set up the dimmer switch settings better. One dimmer switch is in my master bathroom and I set a schedule to have the light very dim at night so if I get up in the middle of the night I am not blinded. Overall, very happy with purchase!
