    Good Affordable Dishwasher

The Whirlpool Gold GU2300XTVQ dishwasher in white looks great in our kitchen. The buttons are easy to press and the two dish racks feel sturdy. It is recommended to use a Jet Dry rinsing solution along with dish detergent for best results. In terms of cleaning, it does a good job especially on glasses. It cleans plates well, but a few times I did notice a little bit of food residue left behind on the backside of a plate. In Whirlpool's defense I did not use the Power Scour for heavier loads. It comes with a few different washing options. A normal or sanitary wash cycle is approximately 3 hours for cleaning and heat drying. There is an adaptive cleaning cycle which I use most of the time that takes about 2 hours to finish. There is also an express cycle that only takes 1 hour to wash, but does not heat dry the dishes. Whirlpool classifies it as a Quiet Partner III which means you can hear it running, but it won't distract you or ruin the experience of watching a movie. However, if you're really concerned about noise, you may want to consider getting a Quite Partner IV. The tub is plastic, but is colored gray so it shouldn't look dirty in a few years. The interior is fairly spacious. You can fit a lot of knives, forks, and spoons in the utensil rack. Approximately 12 glasses and a 4 small bowls can fit on the top rack while the bottom rack can fit 8 plates and 4 medium bowls. We've had the dishwasher for over a month and have used it nearly once a day after dinner. I have not experienced any problems yet and would recommend it to someone who wants an affordable dishwasher that performs good and looks nice. We installed the dishwasher ourselves and the most difficult part was maneuvering the copper waterline to go underneath the dishwasher. This can be avoided by planning a pathway using the correct piping tools or by simply using a flexible stainless steel waterline (which professionals say may leak over time).

Had this dishwasher 2 months now, frustrated with ordering time and some customer service answers but this is a quiet dishwasher that does a very good job on all dishes, watch the higher temp settings. It dimmed some logos on coffee mugs, it doesn't the water that hot. Takes a while to do the cleaning but boasts being both water and energy efficient.

Don't know what Tam's problem is with this dishwasher but my wife and I like it very much so far. I installed the dishwasher myself, only took about 45 minutes before I had it running. Seeing how this is the very first diswasher I've every installed, I would think someone with experience could do it even faster. The other model dishwasher this one replaced was very noisey but the Whirlpool is very quiet. We can carry on a conversation standing in front of the dishwasher without having to raise our voices. Dishes, glasses and flatware come out sparkling clean with NO pre-soaking.

Good dishwasher for the money. Not as quiet as I expected, but a huge improvement from my old builder grade whirlpool. It seems they have new waterline connections that wern't the same as my old one (3/8" vs. 3/4"), caused a few trips to the hardware store. I ended up making my own combination of fittings that would work with the hose I bought. Seems to be setup for a compression joint adapter fitting only. Also, hinges have spring adjustments for counter balance, I changed to min and max settings and friction seemed unchanged, a bit more closing force is needed than expected.

I agree with oldblueyes... I have never installed a dishwasher before, and this was pretty simple. We have run a few loads through so far, and we put in some dishes with cooked-on cheese, along with several unrinsed dinner plates, etc. They all came out sparkling clean! We are very impressed so far with this purchase. I would recommend this dishwasher to anyone.

    Better Dishwashers Exist

After extensive research, I decided to purchase the GU2300 given the great Consumer Reports review. Unfortunately, this dishwasher, while loaded with features and the ability to clean dishes very well, does not deliver for a number of reasons: 1) This (not so) "Quite Partner III" was still quite loud. I purchased a comparably-priced Bosch after returning this and the Bosch was considerably quieter. 2) After a few days of use, the detergent randomly would not dispense from the tray. When I opened the dishwasher door, the unopened detergent door opened and spilled the detergent all over the utensil basket in the door. I had to re-run the entire cycle. For the price you pay, you should expect the detergent to dispense EVERY time. I believe this is a result of a poor design as the detergent door hits the top rack when opening. 3) The utensil basket is too small...nearly 2/3 smaller than a normal basket. I have a family of five and couldn't even fit all the utensils in the basket after one day. 4) The tub is made of flimsy plastic 5) The inlet water connection was 1" (not 3/8") even though the manual said it was 3.8". I purchased a Whirlpool install kit and the 1" adapter was not included and I had to run out to a local appliance store to pay for this special adapter. Moreover, you have no idea if the model you receive will or will not require this adapter.

    Great dishwasher

Been using the dishwasher for about a month. I was hesitant of buying another Whirlpool b/c the one I had before was only 4 years old and started leaking water from below. Plus, it was pretty loud but I can't expect too much from lower model. Decided to upgrade to Gold serie and I am very happy with it thus far. This model is also Consumer Report pick for "best buy".

    Worst dishwasher ever owned

I've owned several dishwashers and this one is the worst. Stay away from this one, you will be very disappointed. We even had to have a service call when the motor broke after owning it for 3 months! All dishes need to be pre-washed before or soaked for a long time, does not clean well at all!
