Customers praise the 4.5 Cu. Ft. 11-Cycle Front-Loading Washer for its excellent cleaning performance, quiet operation, and ease of use. Many appreciate its capacity and the effectiveness of the spin cycle, while also noting the favorable price point and attractive design. However, some concerns were raised regarding the long-term reliability of the machine and the door mechanism. A few users experienced issues with the washer's functionality after a relatively short period.

I couldn’t decide between these or the Samsung’s for cheaper. Let me say I’m glad I went with the whirlpool. Everyone said Samsung’s are garbage and these are worth the extra money. Very quiet and very efficient!

I love that the settings are preprogramed for every type of load. All you need is to see the manual and see the cycle guide and go from there. As soon as you pick a type of cycle the settings adjust automatically for that type of load. All you need to do is insert the clothes, soap, bleach if needed and softner. Then press start. This washer makes it that easy! Which is why I love my new washer! Thank you whirlpool for making this washer with me in mind. Thank you Best Buy for your help in answering all my questions and for having employees that are well aware about the products you sell. Thanks for price matching. This washer exceeded all expectations!

This washer has a ton of space and options available. We mainly use the "Cold" wash cycle as we never washed in warm water as the "Normal" cycle defaults to. Now the gripes. It does not have a door to access the drain pump filter. It is a major undertaking if you need to clean the filter. There is always some water left in the detergent drawer after each cycle as well as inside the casket around the door. I have doubled checked to make sure it is level so that is not the issue. In the future I would not buy a washer that did not have an access door for the drain pump filter, somehow I missed that this one did not have it.

I replaced my 13 year old Whirlpool Duet washer with this Whirlpool front loader. I am so happy! It is bigger and better with many cycle choices to fit your needs. It washes great and cuts down on drying time because of the higher rpm spin cycle. The color Chrome Shadow is gorgeous and the price couldn't be beat. The delivery process went smoothly and the guys were very professional. Very satisfied with my purchase.

The washer looks a little intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it, it's great. Large capacity drum and preset capability are nice features. The unit is quiet and does a good job.

Snagging Clothes

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
WHIRLPOOL BUYERS BEWARE!! This is what my brand new front loading Whirlpool Duet washing machine does to my sheets and clothes! But according to Whirlpool there is no problem with my machine since they can't figure out what's causing it to snag my clothes. They sent a service technician out to service the machine four times (he only showed up three times) and can not find out what is snagging the clothes. They will not replace the washer. They told me to file a claim with my home owners insurance to receive money for the damaged items. They tried to blame me by saying it must be the way I'm loading the clothes as if after 35 years of washing clothes I don't know how to do laundry. They suggested that I wash my clothes in laundry bags to avoid them getting snagged. Best Buy will not allow us to return the washer so I am now stuck with a dysfunctional machine and a lot of ruined clothes! Consumers like me have no recourse against Whirlpool that makes a bad product. I try to buy American but I will not be purchasing another Whirlpool product!! Ugh!!

This washer does an excellent job washing things and you can wash a larger load than a standard washer. This is my first time using a front load washer and I love it. Being short it's very easy to reach the items in the washer. If you are taller you might want to also purchase pedestals so you don't have to bend down as far to reach your clothes in the washer. Also, don't forget to leave washer door open between loads. I've had no problems with musty smell that others have reported. No problems with leaks either. You'll love this machine.

Enjoy the washer. Nice to have all of the options and hope to use more of them in the future.
Washer seems not to use as much water the old school washer, we had, did.
We did stack the matching dryer on top, just like in our local Best Buy store because we have a tiny laundry closet. Both fit, barely, but we are happy with the washer and dryer.

Easy to use, I didn’t want to have to bend over when I have large loads so this is perfect! Large enough to was blankets! This is my 2nd Whirlpool purchase for the matching set of washer/dryer. I feel spoiled, use to use and beautiful to look at.

I have had the older Duet set since 2003 and they were work horses so I bought this new set last month.. The new set look fantastic in the silver chrome. These are work horses to and built very well. The dryers you can not kill. The old washers only had 1 downfall, which was the rear bearing would eventually go bad and is a pain to replace.. I replaced the bearing on the old set and got a few more years out of it.. Hopefully being a direct drive, this problem is not an issue anymore.. These are high quality, low soap and water usage units.. if you have never used a side mount washer, you only use a small amount of detergent. I only fill up half the small detergent bin in the washer unit at most which is about a quarter to a 5th of what a standard washer uses.. If you use to much, it suds up and will leave a musty smell. less is more in these units!! Nothing washes and cleans like a side mount! You are getting high quality, long life use when you buy these so treat yourself> you will be glad you did.. I have whirlpool everything in my house just because they have been so darn reliable..

Have had my W/D set for about two months now and it is perfect. The volume of laundry it can handle is excellent, was concerned a HE W/D would only handle smaller loads but these babies can easily handle a load of 15 towels plus a dozen hand towels and wash cloths. They are quiet compared other washers and driers for the majority of their cycle. The washer does make a noise like a tiny jet engine when it is finishing a cycle (it is spinning unbelievably fast to wring out every bit of water it can!) which is understandable and only lasts a couple minuets or so. The dryer is 100% dead quiet though, I never hear that running.
TL;DR Excellent product, quiet for a washer dryer, would buy again.

After using for more that six months, I can say this machine cleans well but is noisy at times. Right now the soap dispenser is leaking water after a cycle is completed, need to have that checked.

Good Washer With Many Options

I really like the way this washer looks. We have it stacked with the matching dryer and they are very sharp. The dryer works great. It does get a bit loud on the spin cycle but nothing out of the ordinary. The touch controls are very sensitive. I have to turn on the control lock right after I start the washer so I don't accidentally push one of them. If I was making the decision again I would probably go with the model just above this with the multi-load detergent holder so I would not have to fill it every time but other then minor annoyances this is a great washer.
