Customers love the ease of use, cleaning performance, and large capacity of this 4.8 Cu. Ft. Smart Top Load Washer. The Load & Go dispenser is a popular feature, but some customers find the washer noisy and have reported reliability issues. The price point is also a factor for some buyers. A few users mentioned concerns about the spin cycle.

I had always purchased Whirlpool cabrio washer and dryers before. They work. No issues. The reviews were always 4.8-4.9.
I couldn't get those anymore so I opted for this new model which resembled the cabrio with more bells and whistles.
I am replacing an old whirlpool that was probably 20 years old. It worked, it beat the clothes to death, they were clean. I wanted to keep it forever, but alas there was some rust I could not locate and it was leaving stains on everything.
Start with the bad, end with the good:
The bad-
The smart features are wonky, kind of buggy, the app is always weird and clunky. I find I no longer use it, the only feature I liked was the "Your clothes are clean" push message. When I got a new phone that stopped and I've followed every instruction from them to restore this and it wont push the message anymore.
(See my followup at bottom)
The tub- its stainless steel, after less than a week there is a film inside the tub obviously residue that will not come off. I feel like I need to take a wire brush to it but it will probably scratch it. Aafresh? dont get me started 4 times no difference.
The color- I was excited, its my favorite color. But anything gets on it water marks, oxyclean, any bleach dribble, shows up 10x a white one. Constantly windexing it like a window.
The fill- As it fills occasionally it splashes enough because it shoots out instead of down i see some water marks on the floor.
The drain tube- When did they switch to this newer thin tube? it seriously popped out of the wall and shot water all over my garage flooding to the street. thank goodness its a cement garage. I ended up using PVC conduit straps to screw it to the wall because it moves around all the time.
The good-
It cleans clothes really well, you can press all sorts of buttons and get it to actually do a great job albeit over 3 hours. The quick mode uses very little water 29 minutes and surprisingly does an ok job. All of the cycles except for quick take a bit more time than the old one, and even two year old cabrios.
36 cycles are right. When I do a ton of towels I tell it heavy and to soak for 3 hours. Those towels come out looking amazing.
Here comes the big amazing plus: I have energy monitors on all my appliances. this unit on a 3 hour cycle even with California ridiculous power rates costs 20-30 cents to run. I have no idea how they are accomplishing this. That is where this unit shines. It uses no power. The old one would suck down power like no other. The lights would flicker in the house when it was agitating. So whatever they are using to move the drum is completely different.
In conclusion im pretty happy.
I have decided I do not want any smart appliances due to the multitude of reviews across brands and models that say appliance manufacturers shouldn't write software. Stick to making quality appliances that will last as long as the one I just replaced. Look for my dryer review also.

This may be the only review I've ever left on anything I've purchased. Purchased in late 2020 to replace a washer that came with the house we purchased. Loved our Cabrio at the house we sold so did our best to try and replace with what we knew and appreciated. This washing machine, from day 1, was a bit "basic". While it didn't fail at anything out of the box or leave anything desired, there wasn't anything really great about it. I had read a few reviews prior to purchasing and even stumbled on some that said the washing machine was messy in that it spit water across the opening (with the lid closed) at the start of cycles and it would run down the face of the machine. Figuring this was a small problem with a likely unique circumstance I went ahead and purchased. Well - it certainly took place on ours and while I could complain about having to wipe this machine down - I'm not. What is becoming apparent though is that this machine is rusting from the inside out. The finish at the lower face (where your toes would hit when loading) is corroding and working it's way upward. If you reach under the machine, it's even further apparent the outer shell is holding water. Additionally, the fabric softener inlet on the top/left/front of the machine (under the lid) is also starting rust/chip/corrode around the perimeter. Being as though we have literally never poured anything into that inlet - I can't imagine anything that we could have done to have caused this. Attempts to reach out to Whirlpool service have fallen on deaf ears. Responses are nothing short of attempted science lessons explaining what happens to steel when it gets wet. Conveniently overlooked is a product that uses water and shouldn't mess itself. Wildly underwhelming purchase prior to this rust discovery already. The fact that this water is more than a clean-up issue is a dealbreaking concern. Appliances aren't supposed to fall apart 3-4 years after purchase. Service has been made for a tech to confirm what I've observed. I'd be happy to compliment Whirlpool on their proper approach rectifying this otherwise silly issue on a $1,000 washing machine. It won't belong before the finish chips to reveal obvious rust and running a machine that looks 20 years old. I can only imagine the damage it's doing to itself in places that I can't see that will amount to actual functional issues.

Washers have always to be a problem in the last 10 years. This one is no exception. It seems to make odd noises and will error for no reason at least once a week. I think it has too many bells on it and it seems to be not know what its main job is at times--just to wash clothes instead of think to hard about it. It makes a scraping noise at times like it is metal on metal when starting so we are waiting for to stop because we are told "it must completely stop working for repair". LOL Good for them if it goes out of warranty. :(
WE would have not purchased this higher level of washer if it was not rated well or not one of the FEW available ---btw- we still waited a month on it. So I would pass if you have other options and go for a cheaper one that keeps it simple. :)

I was replacing a 20 year old Maytag washer so was excited for a new bigger one. This one did not disappoint. Love the extra space without having an agitator. It is a bit loud but it doesn’t bother me. I like utilizing the app feature to know when the wash is finished. The chrome finish is very stylish. Installation was quick and easy. Overall, very pleased with my purchase.

The interface display isn’t hard to navigate. The sensing on the machine is great how it always adjust depending on the load you intent to wash. The app feature on phone is not the best. But overall great machine.

Great looking Whirlpool was her and dryer. Has an impeller as opposed to the agitator which makes more room to load clothes. Spacious room in the drums of the washer and the dryer. Washer is equipped with Load&Go feature which allows enough liquid detergent to wash 20 loads of laundry before adding more detergent. Still trying some of the features and have been quite satisfied.

The touch screen on this unit works great and makes programing almost dummy proof. It holds an incredible amount of laundry compared to our former front loading machine. We had to leave the door open on our front load machine but this one has built in technology that eliminates that need. It's a smart appliance that allows you to use your cell phone to control the unit and get notified when the cycle is complete. It's nice not to have to check on the machine to see if it's done. Also like the large 1 liter built in detergent holder which eliminates having to add soap to each load. Great buy from Best Buy!

Pretty big washer however being that it is a new model with all of the techy bells and whistles, it seems to repeat the same errors (F0E2??). Do think it's pretty cool I can see where the timing is at on the washer from my phone but that's about it. I'd rather have something durable with less features but my boyfriend wanted this one so here we are.

Huge capacity, very quiet, cleans very well.
Controls a bit touchy. There is a delay at times when a cycle button is pushed and you don't know if it needs to be done again or not. Starting to adjust to this though and learning to be patient.
Overall a pretty happy purchase.

First one washed great but made an incredible loud sound when agitating. Best Buy made it right and brought a new one. So far it’s been awesome...washes well and love the load and go and other features along with the sleek look. Just wish the fabric softener was load and go too!

I've had this washer for about 8 months now and waited to write my review. It is not my favorite purchase. I ended up moving out of state and had to sell my last home that had brand new LG top loaders. I was really happy with them. When I bought my new house I had to get all new appliances and since we are in the pandemic it was pretty difficult to find appliances. I was going to get the same LG but everything was out of stock and would be for a long time. I decide to go with these as they were in stock, reviews were good and I figured I'd give something else a try.
Pros - I like the app feature. I didn't set it up right away as I figured it would be kind of useless but I do like that my phone notifies me when the clothes are done, it also allows you to add more drying time if needed. I work from home and my office is on the second floor of the house so its nice to get the alert. LG is only android friendly so I wasn't able to use that feature on my last set. Overall that is basically what it does.
The auto dispenser. Its nice to load it and go but has a con which I listed below.
I am short and I can easily reach to the bottom of the washer, something I struggled with on the LG.
Roomy enough for a thin King sized quilt.
Attractive design and the washer came with hoses so that was nice.
The included scrubber brush is nice touch.
The soak feature is really nice.
Seems to clean clothes well.
Cons - Wow, this washer is loud. I have it in my unfinished basement and I dont know if its because not much is down there to help with noise but I can't imagine having this on a first floor laundry room. My prior LG was on the first floor and was pretty quiet. I first thought maybe this washer was broke but apparently, it is fine. It makes a loud knocking noise as it changes gears and it took my two little dogs awhile to get used to it as they would lose their dang minds every time they heard it. Spin cycle is also extremely loud.
It goes off balance a lot. This is pretty annoying. Again, hate to compare to my LG again but it is what it is. I could just toss the clothes in. No special arrangement needed. With this machine, it says to load around the walls of the machine trying to keep the center clear. No matter how I arrange it, it goes haywire with loads that have some weight when wet, like sheets or towels. It actually will move the washer a bit. Sometimes it will just error out which means, I have to end the error, press the spin only cycle as everything is soaked and sometimes have to start the washing process again.
The to go dispenser is a neat idea but you still have to pour the fabric softener separately, so its not that big of a deal to have the load n go, if you still need to grab the fabric softener each time. Also the dispenser for the fabric softener tends to get clogged up. Like it doesn't properly drain into the machine. I do a deep clean every now and then and have to pour water over and over into the dispenser to clean it out. I now use laundry soap with softener in it.
After so many loads, the machine will remind you to run a clean cycle over and over, until you do it. On the LG there was a clean cycle, this machine does not have it. So I randomly guessed to put it on the sanitize cycle with an Affresh tab. Manual is not clear.
You have to hold down the start button for 3 seconds to start the machine. I dont know why this feature was added but I find it annoying.
Its not clear what settings you have unless you press the buttons and go through the menu which shows you an arrow of what is selected (hot, warm, cold) etc.
Overall, if I had a choice I would have picked something else.

I was not used to new digital, smart washers when I bought this so the first few loads were a bit of a learn as you go experience. Once I got the hang of all the buttons, things have been a lot better. Thankfully, this machine holds a TON of clothes so one load is all i do in any given day because I'm used to doing 3 loads in the same amount of time it took to do one load on this machine. I assume this is because of all the sensing it does to ensure the load is balanced and clothes get clean. It takes about an hour and 15 minutes for one load on this thing, an hour and a half if you want the extra rinse cycle or have a heavily soiled option selected. Purchase was quick in store and installation was seamless. Overall a great machine, just hoping it lasts as long as our old set did. Appliances are definitely not built to last as long as they used to.

Have had it about a month so far and love it. I am able to fit my king size bed linens in it. I like the "Deep Water" function that fills the drum with extra water for those bulkier items. The cycle complete chime is a bit quiet and hard to hear if I'm on the other side of the house, which doesn't really bother me as long as it is connected to my home internet and my phone alerts me to the washer being completed. Overall I am very happy with this purchase!

This barely lasted 2 years before it broke down. It makes a terrible screeching noise when it tries to spin. I called Whirlpool to get it repaired. I paid to get it repaired because I was out of the one year warranty. Then it broke again a month later. Had another thing repaired. Then one month later, it broke once again. New things breaking every time. I sunk another $500 into it, and it’s broken still. Do not buy this unless you plan to drop extra cash on the extended warranty
