Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the 5.3 Cu. Ft. High Efficiency Top Load Washer's excellent cleaning performance and large capacity, finding it easy to use. However, some customers note that the washer can be noisy during the wash and spin cycles, and that the spin cycle may not remove all water from clothes. A few also mention the lack of a timer and agitator as drawbacks.

After unit has been installed in the laundry room, I just realized there is no timer screen on how long will a load take (Example: Bedding 1:30). My previous 6 year old Maytag washer had one. Hubby doesn’t like the new faucet feature inside the newer Maytag washers, so we switched to Whirlpool brand.

I woukd give zero stars if I could. Bought this model Whirlpool washer in November 2023 and it stopped spinning 6 months later. Called for repair under Whirlpool warranty because it’s less than a year old. Whirlpool couldn’t find a Whirlpool technician in our service area so they basically told me “Find your own service person, pay out of pocket, follow the email instuctions that we mail to you and we’ll reimburse you up to $200.” I found a service company, who is great and who I’ve used for other appliances in the past, and they said electronic control board is bad. Unfortunately, they couldn’t locate a replacement control board because they were showing out of stock, even through Whirlpool directly. So I had to call Whirlpool again. They said they’d need up to two weeks to locate and ship a new electronic control board. It finally arrived two weeks later, then I had to call our same service company and wait another week for them to come out to replace the control board. That was yesterday. Did three loads of laundry, and the machine worked. This morning, started a load, and its not spinning. Of course Whirlpool is not open over the weekend, so I have to wait until Monday morning to call. In summary, I paid over $900 for the unit and an EXTENDED warranty through Best Buy, I’m out over $200 in repairs that have not been reimbursed yet, and I have no working machine. Not to mention the money we’ve spent at the laundromat over the past 4 weeks and the time I’ve spent on hold with Whirlpool. On top of all this, the machine is loud, makes a strange agitating sound that you can hear through a closed door, and the loads become unbalanced when you wash anything heavier than regular clothing. It’s honestly the worst machine I’ve ever owned.

Love the matte finish and the censoring feature of how long the load will take. So far no complaints overall it seems durable. Love the open top concept so you can see clothes as it washes

We’ve had our new washer for a couple of months now and it is fantastic. 7 people in the house with a baby due anytime now. With the capacity of this washer there is no doubt we can make it thru all the the laundry now. And I was hesitant to move to an HE with questions of how thoroughly they clean. It took a minute to acclimate to seeing so little water but it’s thoroughly cleaning and with so many in the house the efficiency is magnified. The only complaint that concerned me on his unit was about noise. It does make some noise, however given the scale of the tub there is little space left to insulate. In order to fit in the standard footprint in the home something has to give. In this case the sheer volume it’s capable of outweighs the slightly higher operational noise (at least in our home)

This replaced our 25 year old Whirlpool Washer

This replaced our 25 yo Whirlpool washer. It took a few weeks to adjust to it, but we like it. Our old washer had an adgitator, and this one is impellor, so it does take time to adjust to the difference. We've had it 2 weeks and about 10 loads, and we feel it cleans our clothes well so far. We are still figuring out which setting to use for certain loads + deep water feature. The time it takes to wash clothes is twice as long as the old washer, it now takes about 50 minutes to wash one load. The quick feature is 30, but you can't put a lot in the washer on that cycle, or the clothes don't get wet. We also purchased the Best Buy Plus membership and the washer was reduced $20 for July 4th sale, and we did get a refund for that amount. If it goes on sale again within a year for a lower amount than we were refunded, we will get an additional refund. We do recommend this washing machine. This is the only model we've had in 25 years, so we can't compare to newer models. I do miss the buzzer that tells you when the cycle has finished. This washer does the jig in the spin cycle, our 25 yo model didn't, but the old one was terribly unbalanced and created a very loud knocking noise when the clothes weren't even in the tub, and we had to always stop the cycle and redistribute the clothes. We don't have to do that in this one, and we are enjoying not having a loud knocking noise and having to redistribute the clothes, so we are fine with the jig.

I love the large capacity. However, the washer does a very poor job on the spin cycle. Unless the clothing is very light weigh it comes out very damp. The signal for the cycle being done is so low volume you pretty much have to be in the room with the washer to hear it. I also wish I had notice there is no timer on the washer. The receptacle for detergent should have measurements. It will hold a lot more detergent then is necessary for most loads. I have switched to pods for regular loads

This washer is sexy. Love the black matte and glass top. I exchanged for a broken samsung after not even 2 years so i didnt want to go with that brand again. However i can not stand the noise this washer makes! I was surprised this wasnt mentioned in any other reviews i read before purchase. My laundry room is in the hallway, if it was in the garage maybe it wouldn’t be that big of a deal. Debating on returning it :(

Does the job, you can fit a good amount of clothes into one load. the only thing I don’t like is that there’s no screen to keep up with the cycle time, and is a bit loud when spinning at the end of the cycle.

The washer I purchased works absolutely great. It has a sensing feature that selects the amount of water needed for the amount of clothes in the washer. With no agitator in the machine definitely gives you more room for washing bedspreads, comforters. I would definitely recommend this washer to everyone I know.

Great washing machine. Does not wobble while spinning like the GE i bought before. Does not have a digital timer but i don’t need it anyways. Easy to use with all basic wash cycles. Clothes come out fine after the spin cycle. I have washed very heavy blankets and it does the job perfectly.

Ended up switching from the brushed black to white at the last minute, only because the more I thought about it, I hate how badly scratched and white pet hair show up on our other black appliances so why would I want to add another!? Only difference is color and texture but is an awesome washer and does GREAT for our active family of 6!

Was disappointed in this washer and returned it within a week. It was extremely loud and shook during the spin cycle. Also, no indicator lights showing how much time left in each cycle. There was a lot of condensation across the display area - coming up from the top left corner of the lid. Not sealed well. Had to wipe it down between washes.
