    Great as a Casual Distraction

I was one of those skeptics for a long time - you know, the guy who thought he would never play any MMORPG. I thought they were just a massive time-sink and couldn't possibly be fun for a casual gamer beyond the first few hours. I thought only obsessive-types with no life, no friends and nothing better to do could enjoy a game like this. I thought wrong. World of Warcraft was designed to be accessible to everybody. The basic concepts of moving, combat and character progression are easily understood, and anybody can reach the maximum level (80 once Wrath of the Lich King comes out) by simply playing long enough. "1337 SKILLZ" are not needed to progress in this game, unless you want to get through the most advanced content, or compete in Player vs Player combat at the most competetive level. For someone like me - married w/ 2 young children, working a full time job and trying to finish school - this game is a fantastic distraction. Playing just a few hours each week, I have curently advanced my primary character up to Level 60 (the original Level Cap), while experiencing a lot of fun content, joining a helpful and friendly Guild, making lasting in-game friendships (which gives you people to play with regularly) and enjoying the rich, immersive storyline. The best part is, this game is even something my wife enjoys. She plays as often as she is able, usually when the kids are napping, and has advanced a few characters up to the Level 30-40 range. (She's a bit of an Alt-oholic, she makes lots of different characters, sampling the various classes, rather than focusing on just one.) No matter what I'm up for - a bit of solo questing, some group instancing, hardcore PvP, or just wasting time and blowing off steam, this game is ready to deliver. I hardly touch my other games (or game systems) these days, spending most of my limited recreation time playing WoW because it is so fun and relaxing. I can enjoy my time in Azeroth whether I have 15 minutes to kill, or a few hours to spend on improving my character (a rare occurence these days, but its nice to know the game is ready when I am). Soon, my wife and I will be getting a second computer and an additional account, so that we can both be online and playing together, rather than watching the other one play when its their turn. I'm really looking forward to sharing this activity together in a more interactive way, and I can only see it strengthening our marriage - since neither of us is obsessed or addicted to the game. Probably the only downside I can think of is the fact that you can't just pay for the game and be done with it. To continue to enjoy the game, you have to pay a monthly fee of somewhere between $13.00 - $15.00 (depending on how much time you pay for at once). I know many people who spend way more than that each month on their entertainment - a single trip to the movie theater can easily cost you over $30.00 once you factor in the tickets and concessions - and that's just 2-3 hours of fun. With WoW, you can have a lot more fun (I average between 2-10 hours each week, depending on what else I'm doing and how much free time I have), so that amounts to a better fun to dollar ratio than going to the movies.

    Warcraft

WoW is all I have to say. The creators at Blizzard have done it again. I have been a fan of Blizzard way back when, when they first created the RPG Warcraft: Humans Vs. Orcs. The story since then has evolved and so has game play and technology. Where once you played a story and controlled multiple units and fought via strategy, now you get to LIVE that story. Create a character from many different classes and live and experience everything in the amazing 3D world. Some of the best looking graphics I have seen in a game. The amount of detail and time put into this game is worth every penny. You can quest by yourself or with others. Take on legendary races and beings with friends. You can even fight other real players one on one or battle against many.

There's a reason it's the number one game.

World of Warcraft. Every one has heard of it. Even non-gamers. I mean, it's very difficult to go anywhere without hearing someone talking about it. This game very well may be the King of all MMORPG's. And how could it not be? With the captivating lore, to the extensive landscapes stretching on for miles, down to the tiny gnomes. I played this game because everyone talked so highly of it, and coming from EQ, I was extremely skeptical. But with all of my friends getting sucked into the game, I decided to give it a shot. I started out with the Ten day trial, and by the end of the first day, I was not even close to being ready to turn the game off. By the end of the second day, I went out and bought the game. I couldn't help myself. I was hooked. The PvP is incredible, somewhat annoying when you get people who kill you outside of major cities, and sit there waiting for you to respawn. But it motivates you to do the same when you get to a higher level. The Instance aspect of the game is brilliant, challenging the best of player's and testing the bindings of your group as a whole. The best gear of the game is found in these dungeons. Getting slaughtered time and time again by a much higher level member of the opposite faction? Battlegrounds is group PvP at it's finest, matching you to a level group of the opposite faction. (bracket systems. 10-19, 20-29, etc.) Quests are plentiful with new ones being added daily. You could be going on a simple "go get me my broom" or a "bring me the head of the Archmage Arugal." Blizzard is constantly patching issues in the game to discourage cheating and unfair advantages to each class and race, with every Tuesday being "Patch Day" and causing servers to go down typically for a few hours. In conclusion, this game is the biggest game to have ever hit the shelves and there's no reason why anyone couldn't enjoy it's captivating features.

A Game to last you a couple of years

I don't forsee anyone reading up reviews on this game because if you're looking to buy this game, then you know what's it about. I will, however, say something about ordering this game from Bestbuy. It took FOREVER for this game to ship. 2 weeks. I didn't mind though, and it's not Bestbuy's fault. The game was backordered and they sent me an email for an option to pick it up from the store. I was in no hurry to play it anyway. The game is great, and it will last you a couple of years. It's definitely worth it. Buy it from Bestbuy, they have the best prices, but might be better if you do store pickup. Hope to see you guys in Ogrimmar, I'm in the Area52 server.

The best MMORPG of all time

Been playing WoW off and on the past couple of years and currently have a 70 human priest, lock, and rogue on a PVE (normal) server. I mainly PVP (player vs. player) and enjoy both battlegrounds and arena. Questing is both fun and sometimes a grind. There are some minor imbalances versus the game but like rock/paper/scissors, each class has certain advantages and disadvantages against other classes. This game is known to own your soul so before you begin playing make sure you can have some self-restraint to not end up getting addicted to this game. Besides, overall I recommend this game for the casual to hardcore gamer. It is a very entertaining and interactive game and is played by millions. Blizzard also comes out with nearly weekly patches to make the game as enjoyable and fair as possible to all players so you know they definitely care about this game.

and acts as a second life.you wont need friends if youi have WoW friends, they have personality, its fun to talk to ppl cause its not all game like in runescape.you can do quests wich widly vary, unless there the first quests.if you dont like quests and just want to lvl, you can just talk to ppl, its fun, and then grind, wich is killing monsters a little lower lvl then you for max exp.there are also dungeons, with hard bosses that drop items that will make you want more,if they idnt, it be boring.the graphics are awsome, best iv ever seen, and theres alot of detail.plus, if you wanna have fun, you can just spend alot of money on beer and kegs, the screen will look wavy and move with your camera.but watch out!if you fight you will get knocked back and fall to the ground. The language filter is disablable, lol, so you can see words like ***** and know what ppl are talking about.the guilds you can stay in, be promoted, have fun, kick anoying ppl, and have guild events.if you dont like these then you can just pk, or player kill, in many of the battlegrounds, if its in an enemy city, its not a battleground, its a raid.If there was a smoker who got WoW, hed quit.remember.WoW, saving lifes everyday.and all words in cons thing arent cons...wasnt enough room for all pros.sry for riting so much.

PLAY IT! If you've played this game before and got bored, like I did, you should definitely give it another shot. The latest Cataclysm expansion has changed the entire game and anyone can enjoy these changes even if they're not a level 80 character. The quests, cities, beasts, character classes, and just about everything else has changed in a substantial way. Cities have been destroyed, flooded or built into fortresses. Zones have been flooded, burned by lava, or ruptured by the conflicts. Anyone buying this copy of World of Warcraft can enjoy these changes. As for cost, 15 dollars a month isn't much considering the level of entertainment. For the cost of three gallons of gasoline or one movie ticket with a drink you get 30 days of game time. NOTE: This copy usually comes with 30 days free but you will need to setup a subscription when you create an account. You can also use the time cards. They're only 30 bucks and you get an additional 60 days on top of that. The new game launcher lets you download the game/updates WHILE YOU PLAY which is an huge improvement over the old days.

    Great Game

I really enjoy playing this game. For those of you who want a game to just play once in a while, this game is not for you! It takes lots and lots of time to work on your characters. It's a sucker-fish that way, though. A person can really loose time playing. Also, the billing is per month instead of per hour, so in order to get your money's worth, some time is needed to play. It is a lot of fun! Each quest will be an adventure, plus you meet all kinds of new friends to play with. Or you can get a group of people you know to play, and work together towards leveling your character. The graphics are really pretty good. If you choose your server well, then there shouldn't be a problem with load time or anything like that either. Good luck and have fun!

    Very Well Done

Blizzard held up to its name and did not disappoint in their first shot at an MMORPG. Bought this game the 2nd month in stores when a Best Buy associate recommended it to me. I couldn't have been happier. The game quickly pulls you in with its realistic yet cartoonish character customization and easy to learn start up quests that keep you entertained. I immediately became hooked and had a lot of fun discovering how many people I knew were there to meet me in the game world to tackle monsters and quests cooperatively. It is possible to level your character solo but certain quests require partnership but are all optional. Very versatile to your playing style. The basis of the game is simple but has more than enough content to satisfy any level of gamer. End-game dungeons which must be done in groups of 5 or more are very entertaining and a must to truly enjoy the game. Very well done, be prepared to spend a lot of time playing.

    'WOW' must have!

All I can say is "WOW" Blizzard has finally came up with a RPG that will last. World Of Warcraft is a multiplayer online game that has many servers, (worlds) for people to interact and play on. It is a great adventure game, I would say for all ages who likes the feel of a sword or wand at there finger tips and slay monsters or other online players for fun! I would say this game has got to be one of the best games around. Blizzard always updating the maps, items, and adding new things to improve World Of Warcraft. There is fun quests that you can do alone or with a group of friends; lets just say you never go bored. I would rate this game around a 9/10, the only thing that is a draw back is that to play it, you need to pay 15 dollars a month. If you are a real gamer, then this is well worth the money! You can purchase a 2-month access card for 30 dollars at your nearest best buy ;). Keep your fingers happy, GAME ON!

    MMORPG King

World Of Warcraft has taken the MMO world by storm. If you are an online gamer and have not already been infected by the WOW bug what are you waiting for? World of Warcraft has a little something for everyone. Whether it is soloing through lvls or grouping with friends to fight vicious adversaries in a instanced dungeon, World of Warcraft has a little something to fit all play styles. Soloing or dungeons not your thing? How able facing off with another player controlled character in the art of player versus player combat. Or if violence is not your bag of tea perhaps role playing a crafter that can make mighty weapons or armor is more your style. The point is what ever you like in a Online MMO you can find it in World of Warcraft. If you don’t believe me ask the 10,000,000 other wow players. In the end it is about the numbers and World of Warcraft numbers make it the king of the hill.

Overall a phenomenon in the gaming world. Connecting to millions of other real live players is its crowning achievement. With two expansions now even the highest lvl player(besides group raids) will find something to do. Blizzard even released a bound hard copy of the beastary due to the huge amount of foes you can encounter. The weapons and armor are no different since they can not only be bought from merchants or found on enemies, they can be purchased from other players individually or at the local auction house, not to mention, if your skilled you can make them yourself. Its drawbacks are first and most important- many people struggle finishing quests since they require help. Unlike games like elder scrolls 3 and 4 the graphics are more toon like and you seem strapped to two or three areas of exploration at a time because of your lvl.

I think this is one of the best games out there today. But it is a little expensive to play. It is $15 a month. my suggestion would be to download the trial (free) and play it and see what you think. If you dont like it then just uninstall it off your computer. If you do like it, you wont have to install it again if you buy it, you just have to create another account on the www.worldofwarcraft.com. If you dont have at LEAST 2GB of memory, dont buy this game yet. you will have much lag and it wont be a pleasant gaming experience. ITs over 7Gb download to your hard drive also. and you might have to take extra space from your computer to download the patches and updates. But overall, this game is a 5/5. You are either the alliance or the horde. if you pick a server that allows you to fight the enemy you will. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!

I have been playing RPG's for more years than I would like to admit & generally avoid the online mmorpg's because of the subscription fees & generally annoying players in the games, this game however I have found to be much different. The other players are generally helpful especially if you find a good guild. This game is highly addictive and time consuming, once you sign in the day or night will quickly dissappear but if you are a serious gamer this one is for you. The $15 per month fee is nothing compared to what I have spent buying game after game as I either beat it or became to bored to continue on. I purchased this game about 45 days ago and have been highly entertained ever since. Lots of gear, characters and abilities to keep even the well experienced gamers happy. Possibly one of the best games I have played.

WoW is one of the most popular computer games in history for a reason - it is one of the most addicting games in existence. Anyone who has done old school role-playing like Dungeons and Dragons knows the appeal of immersing yourself in a character. WoW allows you to design your own characters and enter a whole new world just waiting to be explored. The interface is simple and easy to learn - newbies can progress rapidly. Goals are varied and there are multiple ways for players to advance levels. While group play is encouraged, it is by no means necessary and anyone can progress without the aid of others. The frequent patches are annoying, but are unavoidable. I wouldn't recommend this game if you have a lack of self control. It could take over your life.

This is an excellent game. It plays extremely well on older computers, even with max settings. It is very user friendly, and easy learning curve involved! All the professions are fun to play, and you get a good number to pick from. I have played most of them, but Hunter is my favorite as it is a pet class. There is also crafting in WoW, and not as in-depth as some other MMOG's, it is still done very well. If PVP is your thing, they offer many different options. From PVP servers, to Battlegrounds. You'll definitely be pleased!

World of Warcraft is an MMORPG: Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. This means that you have the opportunity to play with people from around the world. I've been playing for about 2 years now, and I'm still exploring. You can quest alone or join groups of characters to complete common goals. There is a player vs player option to battle opposing factions. You can use different crafting skills such as leatherworking, blacksmithing, engineering, alchemy, and jewelcrafting to customize your character. Several races and classes are available to choose from. Several of my friends have converted to WoW from other online games like Guild Wars and Final Fantasy. More people to go questing with...

Best game You will ever play. It is an awesome game and Blizzard just keeps it comming. I have been playing this game for 3 1/2 years and i havent stopped. The bad parts: It has probably sucked up about 1,000 dollars but the worst payment is your life. You will get in and never get out. I have been up for 72 hours straight playing this game and i feel so ashamed when i look at the clock after i get off. I have 6 lvl 70's and a lvl 68 and i am happy but sad. If wondering: dwarf hunter, gnome warlock, undead priest, blood elf rogue, tauren warrior, nite elf druid, and my 66 is draeni shaman. I really want to stop. Its like smoking, once you start you wont stop. GREAT GAME but very addictive.

Great game...For the first time MMORPG or longtime vet....I see and hear tons of people whining about monthly cost But you know what....its dirt cheap to finally have a game where 99% of all hacking/duping/pure BS is kept in check. Bravo Blizzard. I have been playing this game since 2006 and was a longtime disappointed rpg/mmorpg fan. I am very content and happy with this game to date. Blizzard is continuously creating new content for the highend questers and overachievers. Once again...to all the whiners about cost...keep spending ur $20-$50 a month on the next FPS or lame single player rpg or the newest Playstaion3/Xbox game...WoW will keep u coming back for more.
