Super easy to install and get working with Alexa. I’m a bit hesitant about its plastic parts, but so far even with a rougher lock it hasn’t been having any issues.

This product gets retrofitted that goes on the back of an existing deadbolt. The smart device (replacing the inside thumb-turn) and the existing deadbolt and outside cylinder keyed housing are on the inside. The outside will have the existing cylinder lock, which works with its original key(s). I like my first smart lock for my front door so much that I am getting two more, one for the door leading to my garage and one for another door in my house. I have both the Wyze Lockin and the Wyze keypad. The kit comes with everything included (except a smartphone) to make any deadbolt a smart device. It consists of the four Duracell batteries, the retrofit knob box, screwdriver, Wyze Gateway, lineup metal plate to attach the device to the existing deadbolt, and three different adapters to match most deadbolt types. If none of the provided adapters don’t work with your deadbolt, contact Wyze, and they will send you one for your deadbolt. The lock polished aluminum cover has a nice and clean look. The Wyze Lockin lock connects to the Wyze Gateway to connect to the house WiFi; the lock doesn’t connect directly to the WiFi. This included gateway needs to be plugged into an outlet near the lock and also where it can receive a WiFi signal. The installation is super easy, and this is possible thanks to the Wyze app that guides you through the entire process. Its installation wizard is one of the best wizards I have used. The whole process is broken down into simple to follow steps, and the cool thing is the option to select “Show me how” that will pop up a YouTube video on how to do a specific step. The Wyze app is straightforward and includes incredible features you can do with the smart Lockin. You get instant notification and history when it is locked, unlocked, locked, or unlock with the keypad. The activity notification is instant. I have the option to give access to anyone in my household and set/ deactivate temporary access for guests. The auto-lock feature is one of the reasons I wanted this lock, mainly because my teenage child frequently forgets to lock the door when his friends leave the house. Now with this Wize Lockin, I can rest assured that the front door will not be left open. When activated, the device detects the door position and automatically locks the door when it is closed, and the options are: At once, or minutes (1, 5, 10, 30, or 60 minutes). If set to lock automatically, there is a setting/method (called Trash Method) on the app that allows users to temporarily disable the auto-lock so when someone leaves the house for a few minutes, you won’t be accidentally lockout. In Trash Mode, to temporarily disable auto-lock, one must slowly manually unlock, lock, and finally lock the door. The lock will beep, confirming that Trash Mode has temporarily activated, and the door will not automatically lock. Most of the app settings, lock, and unlocking can be performed remotely (away from the house), but a few require the smart device using Bluetooth to be near the lock. Auto-Lock, Alarm Settings, Volume, and Calibrate settings are only allowed with the smartphone near the lock connected via Bluetooth. For security reasons, I don’t use the auto-unlock sensor feature that unlocks the door when you approach it with your smartphone; I don’t want the lock to open by accident when I am near the door with my phone. A warning with the auto-lock feature, make sure you leave the house with your phone or your keys. You can also get the Wyze Keypad to avoid accidentally getting lockout. What I like the about the product are: (1) I get instant notifications when the door locks and unlocks. (2) It automatically locks when it gets closed. (3) Battery life is very good. (4)I can share access codes. Overall, this is great to have attached to any deadbolt and is very convenient.

This Smart door lock is great for being 100% automated. Installation was a breeze and set up went off without a hitch. In the box comes with everything you need to get you up and running. Lock itself, Gateway, mounting hardware and all the necessary adapters including 2 AA batteries. I replaced my Kwikset lock and realized that the lock only replaces the inside part and leaves the outside completely original. I downloaded the App and went to add the lock and it takes you step by step to install it. The tape included held the outside in place while I installed the back with the door closed. The metal plate has holes that will auto align to any lock out there to make your life easy. Included are 4 different adapters for all brands of locks. Once installed you slap on the Wyze itself, tighten the screws in to hold the lock in place and pop in the batteries and you are done. Literally took me only 15 minutes from start to finish. From there, the lock worked manually perfectly. Then it was on to the Wifi set up. Using the app, you set up the Gateway to log into your network for online capabilities and then it will connect to the Door Lock itself and finish up. The app lets you calibrate the lock to know when the door is open, closed, ajar etc. You can also lock and unlock from the app as well using Wifi or normal Cellular Data. If you want to keep your aesthetic look of your lock and handle combo, this is for you. Solidly built and super easy to use. I've been enjoying the convenience of just leaving my keys in my pocket and doing everything with my cell phone.

Great For Securing An Office Or Storage Closet.

I've used the WYSE lock and gateway bundle for almost two days. The first thing I would like to mention is that it is not a lock. It's more of a smart adapter that turns an existing deadbolt lock into a smart lock. Overall, I would say it is not an impressive product but it's not disappointing either. I wouldn't feel comfortable using it on a primary exterior door lock for my home. However, I would feel comfortable using it on a storage closet or office door. Somewhere where security isn't a life-or-death matter. The reason for that is because the hardware that attaches the deadbolt to the door is such a small piece of metal. Also, the screws that attach the locking mechanism to that same piece of metal are ridiculously small. You should be able to see my point from the pictures. Installation of the smart adapter and gateway were simple. The box included an appropriate adapter for my deadbolt, as well as a few adapters for other deadbolts. The WYSE app provided straightforward installation instructions and quickly paired the smart adapter to the gateway and the home WIFI. The only hiccup I ran into was calibrating the lock. However, after the third attempt it worked. After it was fully set up, the lock did a great job of opening and closing my deadbolt. It also sent me an alert to notify me when my door was opened. With all that said, I am torn between giving this lock a rating of 3 stars or 4 stars. If I were to install this in an office or storage closet, it's a 4-star device. But to protect my home, 3 stars.

The Wyze smart lock is our first product from this brand, though it is not our first WiFi lock as we already have one from another brand installed at our back door. We decided to go with Wyze for our front door for several reasons. We already have a deadbolt installed, and we don’t often use the front door to come and go from the house, so we wanted to make sure that we could still use a key to get in and out if the batteries in the smart lock ever ran out. We appreciate that this lock has a long lasting battery life of up to 6 months, but also know from experience that it’s easy to get locked out when a smart lock’s battery dies while you’re away and you don’t have a backup entry method when you get home! We liked that with this lock, you don’t have to replace the whole deadbolt. You just swap out the inside thumb latch with the Wyze lock, which contains the motor, WiFi receiver, and batteries. This allows you to use the physical keys you already have as backup and makes its installation quick and easy; we were able to complete it in under 20 minutes including app setup. Everything you need to install the Wyze lock comes in the box, including two sizes of mounting screws, four AA batteries, a wireless gateway module, and a universal retrofit kit (mounting bracket). I recommend downloading the Wyze app first as it has guided installation instructions with photos and links to video clips to help you at each step. The mounting bracket has adjustable sliders for the screws' positions, so you can find the right spacing for most existing deadbolts. There are also 4 color-coded adapters to fit different deadbolt tailpipe shapes. The Wyze lock mounts to the retrofit kit with two screws in the battery bay, and the batteries are held in place with small latches that must be engaged in order to replace the magnetic cover properly. After the unit is powered on, you can add it and the accompanying wireless gateway in the app (account registration required). The gateway is a plug-in module which bridges a connection between the lock and your WiFi router. This is what allows the unit to utilize low power consumption while still being able to be accessed remotely from the internet, but also means that you’ll lose remote access if the power or WiFi in your home goes out. However, since the lock also has Bluetooth, you’ll always be able to control the lock from the Wyze app while you’re in Bluetooth range (~30 ft). Connecting the lock to WiFi also allows the unit to install firmware updates from the internet. After adding to the app, calibrate the lock to detect the door's position using its internal gyroscope. Then you can open and close it manually using the thumb latch, via the app, or with your existing deadbolt key. We also got the optional numeric keypad (sold separately) that you mount on the outside of the door that lets you to enter a custom 4 to 8 digit PIN code to unlock the door. You can also link Wyze to an Amazon account with Alexa to enable AI voice commands to lock and unlock the door and control it in routines. These features worked as expected, but note that for voice unlocking, you have to choose a 4-digit pin that you say out loud after issuing the unlock command. The other feature I think is useful is the auto-unlock that utilizes your GPS location. When you’ve returned home after being away for some time, it’ll automatically unlock the door once you’re within Bluetooth range, and you don’t have to pull out your phone or punch in any code. If the door isn’t opened within 10 minutes, it will automatically relock itself. The main thing to remember about having a smart deadbolt lock is that you still need to carry a key for the door’s knob unless you leave it unlocked or use a knob without a lock; we went with the latter as there’s less chance of getting locked out by accident. The other thing we really like being able to do is remotely set up virtual keys for other people. The first way to do this is to share the lock with another Wyze account, and this grants the recipient lock/unlock privileges just like a primary user which is great for household members. However, if you have the keypad add-on, you also have the option to issue temporary keys (4-8 digit PINs) that work only within specified time windows, are recurring, or expire after a single use. Either way, you’ll be able to see in the app a history of how the keys are used and the door's position. The only feature that the app seems to be missing is auto-lock via geolocation, which our other smart lock does support. It’s basically the reverse of the “auto-unlock when you arrive home” feature, where instead it would automatically lock whenever we leave our home. The Wyze lock doesn’t have this option built-in since the auto-lock feature is limited to a timer setting only, and it requires that door position sensing be enabled so the unit knows when the door is closed. Fortunately, Wyze supports IFTTT integration, so it’s easy enough to set up a geofence applet that will fill in this gap. There’s also a “Trash mode” for taking out the trash sans phone or other such short trips, so you don’t get mistakenly locked out when you close the door behind you. To engage it, you slowly unlock, lock, and unlock the door and when you go out and close the door behind you, auto-lock will be temporarily disabled until you re-enter (open and close the door again); then auto-lock will automatically re-engage. Of course, the caveat is that if someone else opens and closes the door before you return, you could still get locked out. While the embedded gyroscope for sensing the door position is mostly accurate, there were a few times that the door wasn’t shut all the way, and the auto-lock kicked in and subsequently jammed against the jamb. This might happen more often for folks with tight fitting doors or doors that stick and don’t easily close all the way. The other thing we noticed is that if we manually turn the thumb latch too slowly, the deadbolt doesn’t retract into the lock all the way, preventing us from opening the door (as it remains partially latched). This could just be due to our particular deadbolt, and we didn’t notice this same behavior if unlocking slowly from the outside with the key; we just have to remember to turn the latch quickly when unlocking from the inside. Oddly, a couple times the thumb latch free-spinning range appeared to shift so when we manually turned the latch, we had to turn through the motor resistance to both lock and unlock the door. To correct this we simply had to recalibrate the lock, though we’re not sure what triggered this behavior. Overall, this Wyze smart lock fit the bill for what we need it for. We can share access or temporary keys when needed using the keypad add-on, access and control the door remotely, and have the door automatically lock and unlock in certain situations. It integrates nicely into our existing smart home environment and was quick and easy to install. It’s has a few quirks we can live with though we’re eager to see how long a set of batteries ends up lasting as we don’t use this door often. Best of all, we were able to keep our existing deadbolt and keys to use as backup.

Wyze began as a smart camera company, and has steadily begun releasing smart products for everyday use at home. Having an entire Wyze Security System already installed, I was excited with replacing my older smart lock with a new Wyze Smart Lock that could integrate with their app. In the box, you’ll find the lock with magnetic faceplate, a gateway plugin module for connection to your WiFi network, 4 AA batteries for the lock, a Quickstart manual, a mount plate, some adapters, and hardware for installing to your existing door deadbolt. The included tool with screwdriver head was the only tool I required for the installation. There is also a small strip of masking tape that you’ll use to secure the external portion of the lock during the installation. This was by far the easiest install of a smart lock I’ve had to do. The mount plate simply required using the correct sized screws, and simply screwing them into the existing deadbolt. With the magnetic battery cover removed, you’ll simply guide two additional screws into place, and secure the lock to the plate. The batteries are held in place by two small plastic flaps, with the lock immediately making an audible tone. Following the app instructions, you’ll begin the pairing process of the gateway first, followed by the lock itself. You’ll need to be in range of both devices, as it requires the use of bluetooth to set up. Once the gateway is set up, you’ll pair your new lock, follow the prompts to install a keypad (sold separately), or invite family members (or your AirBnB guest) to have temporary or permanent access using the Wyze app. If you purchased the keypad, you’ll find the code entry to be easy with larger buttons than other competitors, and a nice confirmation led color change and audible tones. Engaging the lock would take only a few seconds, and during the week of use, never once had an issue connecting and unlocking when used. Overall, the installation took me about 15 minutes, including a firmware update which required me to be near the lock. The calibration process is also easy to follow, with the app directing you to lock and unlock the door, plus open and closing the door. This allows the Wyze Smart lock to use the proper amount of turn to secure and disengage the lock, plus understand the doors orientation for the auto-lock feature. Keep in mind, they auto-lock feature was enabled by default to “immediate.” Luckily I had my phone with me, and was able to unlock the door with the app. If you have a keypad, you’ll use the app to setup codes for yourself, and invite family, friends, or guests to create their own codes. I found this lock to be faster than the lock it replaced, feels well built, and had no issues engaging the deadbolt. The app allows you to set up the auto-lock (can set a timer) settings, setting up auto unlock, and even locking or unlocking the door. You can also set a PIN for Google Home, to ensure people aren’t engaging the lock without permission. If you’re in the market for a new smart lock, which required minimal effort, easily updated, and had step by step instructions for install, BUY THIS.

Overall, the Wyze lock and accompanying keypad is a decent, affordable, and well-made smart lock. I installed it in between my garage door and mud room, with the keypad in the garage. The lock (as you will see in the pictures) replaced an older "non-smart" lock with a keypad as this my main entry point for me to get in to my house. The setup of the lock took a couple of tries - software glitches, a little bit of difficult with the installation - but overall went pretty well. The lock and the app both work very well once everything is set up. Pros: - Good app, relatively straightforward set up - Aesthetically pleasing, especially compared to the large keypad lock I had on the door previously - QUICK ACTING! This is both a pro and con (see below) - Works with smart home assistants - Both lock and the keypad feel durable and well-made Cons: - QUICK ACTING! During setup, the lock instructs you to "teach" it, so to speak, to know when the door is fully closed so it can automatically lock upon leaving. However, since the lock is on the door to my garage, often I've found it trying to lock too quickly (and sometimes jamming up against the door frame). A setting to add additional time before auto locking would be welcomed - Keypad is not backlit until you touch a button (any button). I’d love to have motion sensing or a similar technology (Geo fencing?) to light up when it senses you are close to it. Or a separate button for lighting it up placed on the top or bottom – just something to wake it up. Overall, I'll give this 4/5 stars for the lock and keypad. For the price, I think this is definitely a smart investment if you're looking for an easy-to-use smart lock.

I have used a variety of smart devices in the past and am pretty well versed. Over all I can easily say that this smart lock checks all boxes around functionality and ease of installation. Inside the box there is everything you need in terms of installation such as hardware and DIY instructions. It works with all of the big name smart home apps too, which is a plus in my books. From a functionality standpoint there are some issues that need to be worked out in terms of locking lag and the ability to manually lock/unlock with ease as the process is a little clunky. The app is friendly enough too and pretty easy to maneuver. One small issue that I have with the lock is that it does not come with an outer key pad as its sold separately, I wish there was an outer key pad that was included rather than being forced to use my phone even though there are some auto lock/unlock features that are able to be enabled, I understand it was created as a time saver but I may be a little old fashioned and would prefer a mechanic keyless option. All in all I would still recommend this item but would caveat that there are not bells or whistles to this model unless you opt to get the add-ons.

Easy upgrade to a smart lock

Bottom Line: The Wyze Lock is a simple way to upgrade an existing deadbolt to a smart lock, yet it has a robust feature set. Depending on your door, installation should only take a few minutes. The Wyze Lock replaces the interior panel and latch of an existing deadbolt, which is installed by replacing the back plate (2 standard Philips screws) and then attaching the unit to the new backplate with 2 more screws (I recommend a precision Philips screwdriver for these). Buyers should note, however, that the Wyze Lock is considerably wider and taller than the normal latch, and so they should definitely measure to ensure that it will fit. My door, for instance, has decorative trim around a center window, and I had to shave down a small edge to get the lock to fit. Installation is completed by plugging in the WiFi adapter into an open outlet. Setup and calibration was surprisingly smooth. I had no issues connecting to WiFi or calibrating the lock through the app. It simply required turning the latch a few times with the door in different positions (open/close/ajar). The lock offers a set of useful features through the app. It can be configured to unlock based on location (i.e., unlock when arriving home), provide notifications about the status of the door (e.g., manually unlocked, unlocked by code, door ajar), how long the delay is before locking, and a "trash" mode, which disables the door from locking the next time it is open. This should help users prevent themselves from getting locked out if they remember to click the option before stepping outside. Since the lock installs on the inside of the door, users need their smartphone, the physical key for the deadbolt, or the Wyze keypad (sold separately) to unlock the door from the outside. Users who may have a habit of stepping outside should definitely keep this in mind to avoid locking themselves out.

I am amazed at hiw simple yet efficient this product is. I origibalky wanted to go with the august lock but for half the price i figured id give this a try. I live in an apartment so i needed something thst could retrofit onto my current lock and keep the same key. Set up took about 5-10 minutes. You basically unscrew your old thumb lock on the inside, screw the new backplate into position and find the correct adapter for your lock tuats included. Once thats on, you pop the locks base on and screw it in! It connected to the app seemlessly and asks you to calibrate different door settings (closed, open all the way, ajar.) After that you can see when the door is opened and open it remotely or have it set to auto unlock when you get home. It doesnt work super well if you live in an apartment for that feature if you are in an out frequently (i.e to let a dog out) but when you come home it unlocks for you And is super convenient. Overall this is a great purchase!

We are a smart lock family. We have them on our front door and on the garage door. We just put this Wyze Lock on our back door by the pool. This Wyze lock is a bit different than the locks we have on our other doors. I like some of the differences - but when paired with the keypad I have one issue. I'll start out by saying the instructions for installation are very clear and easy to set up this lock. It walks you through step-by-step on your phone how to intall the lock and then get everything set up. The first major difference with this lock is that there is a wifi receiver with this lock. Why is this important or different from the other locks? You can actually see everytime your lock in opened or closed on the app in your phone. You also can let someone into the house through the app. I can't see that with the other locks I have. The second major difference for me is this lock is much quieter than my other locks. My other locks sound like something is dying when the lock is closing. Not this lock, it is more smooth, like butter. This is also Alexa enabled so you can tell it to lock the doors at night before you go to bed. One other thing that this lock can do that my other locks can't is open the door as I approach. I have to enter a code for my other locks to open - no matter how full my hands are with groceries. I would recommend this lock to friends and family.

There is a backplate with slots for universal alignment. That's a smart idea, but the con outweights its benefits. After an initial simple alignment and tightening down the screws, final lockdown is never in the same position, since the slots move. This can cause the deadbolt to become misaligned with the door causing excess friction or even jamming. I managed to finally align it after a half dozen tries. I also needed to use glue around the outer lock body to allow it not to twist when using the latch. Finally, the Wyze software's third party-integration doesn't seem to allow Google Home to lock it, but only unlock. I created a ticket in their system, but they never got back to me and it's been two months. On the plus side, the material is very solid and the app is reliable. It takes a few seconds for the app to sync when I open it, but it lets me lock and open every time. The history and notifications work very nicely. I like the customizability of their install, having separate pieces which allows the user to puzzle them to their specific situations. I believe this is Wyze's first generation deadbolt, and they did a fine job. I'd interested if they've fixed some of these issues for the 2nd generation, and I may consider other brands for the future. Wyze has done a great job with excellent instructions and packaging and was an excellent primer into my world of smartlocks.

I’ve had this lock for a little over a year now. The setup process was quick and thorough. I liked it so much, after setting it up, that I bought the keypad to go with it. It’s sleek look and technology are nice. This item is highly recommended. Everyone that sees it, loves it and wants it for themselves. Great item the lock is easy to put on and it offers some great features that can be easily adjusted with their mobile app. Obviously with every pro there is usually a con. My one con on this item is the dial where you lock and unlock the deadbolt it feels like its a little loose and with too much strength twisting it the dial would break.

Bought this as a simple ease of use smart lock in case I lock myself out of my place. Very easy to installl and navigate, and very easy to use once you follow instructions. I would recommend for a beginner smart lock for home owners who still wishes to use a key and don't trust a digital fingerprint yet.

As a person that used some competitors locks this package by far is the best. It’s extremely quick quiet and doesn’t require you to buy the wireless bridge as an additional add on. I love the slim design which makes it perfect for the door I needed to use it on. Setup was very easy and all the hardware was provided in the box. I would definitely suggest this to my friends

This product is so functional and very helpful. I am able to unlock the door for my youngest child when he returns home from school and it automatically locks the door when shut. Installation through best buy was quick and easy. So far no issues. I love that the door alerts you if it isn't close. There are options in the app to turn on and off the features.
