Had to get this box because I added phone service to my internet package. Can't really tell any difference from the $60 router I used to have. Set us was super easy.

This is expensive but it will pay for itself after 20 months or so because xfinity charges you 10 dollars a month to rent theirs... NOT 802.11ac which is a bummer...

Very expensive. After purchase, considered buying separate router and modem.

I purchased this Arris to have a faster and better connection to the internet. I bought it so I would not have to pay a fee to Comcast every month. Best Buy is the only store that sells a router that works with Comcast because this router has a telephony adapter, or emta. So far it works well.

It seems to be somewhat underpowered for a 2000 sq foot home. Disappointing. I was not able to find someone to answer questions. Totally understaffed.

i placed the router on a high place hoping that signal would reach all over my house, i have a one story house with 2100 sq feet of living. It looks like i'll have to add another wireless router antenna.

Only modem for telephony allowed by XFINITY

This is the only one of a very limited few that XFINITY allows to be used if you decide to have the home telephone line installed. I would have chosen a different brand if allowed by XFINITY but they are (understandably) locked into this model. Not a bad unit overall. It is located on one end of the home, and the WIFI at the opposite end of the home (one story) is still 4 of 5 bars. Not that I have, but any other modem could be connected to it if one desires to keep their existing (or other specialized) modem. Every once in a while my tablet connection seems to freeze or crawl for a few seconds, but that could either be the tablet or the XFINITY service and I have no way of telling. I bought it because I am locked into a two year contract and ultimately it will cost me less over that period than "renting" the XFINITY unit (same one) and not having anything at the end of that time.

This unit was purchased to avoid paying ever increasing monthly fees to the cable company. Although it was expensive compared to many similar units, it was the only one that included a necessary phone connection. Setup required calling the cable company, but was otherwise simple and straightforward. And the unit works exactly as it should, with no problems or complaints. It is too new to tell how well it will last, but it looks well built.
