Along with great download speed, it has a telephone line and an optional backup battery. for the telephone line. The wireless access point works ok, but the signal is not as strong as my stand alone Access Point. Overall, It is the best option available to not use the Comcast leased unit.

Good modem and router but only 8 channel modem and N wireless. There are better devices, albeit more costly, but Comcast/Xfinity limits choices for customers that wish to purchase the own modems.
Notwithstanding, the modem and router works flawlessly. I am pleased with the purchase. Arris/Motoral has made very reliable gear, in my experience.

This was an extremely easy device to setup, and has been performing flawlessly. It is a bit expensive compared to a basic cable modem, but that is due to the fact that it is a telephony modem. With the e911 requirements there is a battery backup for the phone connection, which adds to the cost. I have been impressed with the additional configuration capabilities as well. It is a feature rich unit.

The modem works great, however the wireless router is not as reliable as I would like. A plus side is you can disable the wireless router and use your own.

This router was simple to hook up and use. The speed is great for normal streaming and internet, phone modem works as intended. The wifi strength begins to weaken 40ft away from the unit, but still has a good, usable signal anywhere in my house and yard. (haven't tried beyond about 75ft)

I was hesitant to buy my own modem, especially after reading some of the other reviews. I needed one with telephony, but not with wifi, but this one has both. I bought this on line from a Best Buy located 25 miles away, but picked it up at a Best Buy that was 6 miles away. Brought the unit home and followed the instructions. I'm not really computer tech oriented and I thought I was going to have a problem, especially after reading some of the other reviews, but it took about 10 minutes to attach the cables and run through the installation steps in the computer program. It tood about another 10 minutes to get the response from Comcast to confirm the set up.
Use the cables that come with the new unit, it seemed to help the speed of the downloads. Also, if your TV starts to skip and jump, pixelation and sound, it is not Comcast, your cables are still loose.

It is a good two in one. The only con is that in an average size home, about 2,550 sq ft, the range doesn't reach very far and an extension in needed.

You cannot save the configuration file off - so, if you ever need to reset to factory defaults you will loose all your changes. So the only changes I made were high security on the Firewall and the default password. I leave this network for guests to use. I have another firewall behind this router and I use that network. I have Comcast triple play so I had to buy this router for the Telephony. It works and is saving me $10.00 a month. I recommend this product if you have Comcast triple play where you have to have it. Otherwise I would use a real router.

Ordered Comcast Triple Play. The XFINITY ARRIS Touchstone DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem and Wireless Router with Telephony Adapter worked great with the system. I do not have to rent the equipment from Comcast and saved $10 a month. I used to have a separate router. Not with this unit it is all in one modem, router and telephone. Nice buy.

This has to be one of the easiest to install units that I have worked with. Just connect the Data coax from Comcast and the power cord. Bang the unit was powered up. There it got a bit dicey. I refuse to discuss the Comcast Internet people, I just do. Read into that what you will. Back to the unit, after the unit was connected to the Comcast Internet backbone the linking of the existing 6 computers in our home went super fast. The default SSID and login password were easily located and configured. Then came the next trial by fire, getting Comcast to configure the telephony section. Again, I refuse to discuss the first Comcast person I dealt with, I just do. Read into that what you will, again. However, the second person was a shining example of the level of skill and dedication that we all wish we would connect with. She was exemplary!!! Back to the unit, again, I then connected our wireless home telephone base to the line 1 jack. I did verify that the line was working and the technician that I was working with verified that the unit was operating correctly. As we were closing down the support call I noticed that the Battery LED was not illuminated. I asked her about this. She informed that this family of Xfinity units that require battery backup do not have the battery in the unit. I said that answered that question. We closed that call. I then called Best Buy to track down the battery for the unit. To my shock and dismay I was informed that Best Buy did NOT stock any of the batteries for this unit. I was forced to purchase it from eBay after a arduous search to find the correct battery. Why did I have to do research you may ask. Well the documentations in the box made NO mention of the battery except that you would have to get one from your local dealer where you purchased the unit. HA! So overall the unit is Awesome. Very high transfer rates, Solid connections and provided me with several channels. I really like the unit. The service from Comcast ,not at all, really. The service from Best Buy, when you are being sold something fair to better, but when looking for support materials, not that good.

I needed to replace my Comcast modem. The options were to rent one monthly or buy. This one cost about the same as a 2 year rental would cost and was on the top of their list of modems. I was easy to install and works well.

It works and the Internet is fast. For those where that is all that matters this is a no brainier. I on the other hand would have hoped that this model would have included the ability to attach a non-wireless printer or hard drive. That is not an option here where it is on cheaper options from other brands. Hence the four out of five stars. All in all it gets the job done but is lacking features that other brands have for this price point.

The recommended modem by Comcast when I signed up for the wireless iSP and phone with Comcast, the DOCSIS 3.0 Residential Gateway + Router was not difficult for a person new to Cable modem installation to install. The directions (I had 2 duplicate copies in the box) were specific in the steps, has a battery back-up for the 2 phone lines. Between the cables in the kit and what Comcast provided with signing up for service, there were the correct lengths to connect all the components, with the extra to return to Comcast, for ReduceReuseRecycle at the Comcast drop box for electronics. I did have to move to a wall cable outlet that was the correct hotspot (the directions included how to find that). The first time use of wireless for the computer was not difficult following the included directions.

Forced to use this Modem

I guess it's okay. I'm not super techy. I do like that it's a modem & router all in one. But I was forced by Comcast to use this router when I upgraded to their X1 platform. Even though I don't plan to use the home-phone feature of this platform, and my other modem & router was working just fine for my new internet speeds, Comcast said they couldn't get my X1 box to populate all of my TV channels until I bought this modem. This TOO EXPENSIVE modem with Comcast's name all over it!
So I bought it. So the tv channels would work (???). And now the wifi in my home is not as good as it was when I had my 4 year old modem. I had to run another ethernet cable to my old router across our small house and use it in conjunction just to get the wifi range we previously had.
I will click the button "Yes, I would recommend this to a friend" simply because anyone using Comcast's X1 will be FORCED to use it anyway (at least anyone like me that is not tech-savvy enough to know any better).
This cost me a lot of (in my mind - unnecessary) money and time. And for what? So the tv channels that are coming in via coax (not through this modem) would work? Comcast scam!
And on this purchase the Best Buy team seemed clueless. Comcast has their name on the product but provided no instruction/support for the sales force that is hawking it for them. When I asked if there was any way I could use my old DOCSIS 3.0 modem (or at least a less than $200 new one) for my X1 upgrade they just said "I dunno". And they had no clue about which modems/routers had phone jacks or not. Telling them I didn't plan to use the phone feature didn't help them assist me. They just said "Well if Comcast said you need this one then I guess you need this one." So they were either untrained about how modems work or they were trained to act ignorant and push me to buy the most expensive one they had - whether I really needed it or not.
And, I will add, when I do a speed test of my internet it does look faster (because of Comcast no longer limiting me - not because the modem is any different than the one I had). But there are many times it seems to hang up or take a while to load the first page when I open a browser. I get several "Aw Snap - timed out" messages a week. Not sure if it's the modem or my greedy, non-caring-about-a-customer service provider.

So far it works but it took Comcast 1 week to get the phone to work. It's better than paying $11 a month. Should of been cheaper. Best Buy is the third party seller for Comcast/Infinity products.

If you have the money highly recommend buying this over paying the $10 a month torent one from Xfinity. As I said in title it works very well but we have noticed that the wifi does not reach everywhere in our upstairs so we end up turning off wifi on our phones in the bedroom because even though it shows connected the data doesn't pass very well if it has less than 2 bars. There are wifi extenders to fix this sort of issue but still a little anoying.

Purchased this Xfinity modem recommended by Comcast (instead of renting it from them). Price was right; setup was simple, no installation problems. Took a little research to change the router password. Works great with all my wifi products, iphones, ipads, printer, laptops, desktop. Been using it for almost a month and no issues.

I just recently switched my cable service to Comcast's X1 triple play service. I wanted to buy a modem to avoid the $10 monthly rental fee for the Comcast modem. I thought that this was the exact replacement, but discovered that it is an older model that only offers 2.4Ghz channel, not the faster 5Ghz channel. The unit that Comcast installed for my service is slightly taller and larger and is a dual-band unit. So I will be returning this and trying to find the identical unit. You must get a telephony-enabled modem if you have triple play.
