Customers are saying

Customers admire the AMD Radeon VII 16GB HBM2 graphics card's performance and substantial RAM, praising its ability to handle demanding games and applications at high settings. However, some users express concern regarding the card's cooling system, noting that it tends to run warm and that the fans can be noisy under load. The card's power efficiency is also a positive aspect mentioned by some customers.

16 gig of HBM2, really nothing else to say. Actually futureProof. They’re still Fine tuning the drivers though.

I came across this card during my hunt for a VR ready card to upgrade my main development system. I found the VII on sale and jumped on it! The problems started right away! I use 2 large monitors(TVs) and an HTC Vive. The screens would blink and go into a state of full grain as if was on TV without an antenna. I checked all Windows and AMD Radeon software updates. But to no avail, I still get the blinking issue, especially when I come from sleep mode, Use Unreal Engine, 3ds Max, and Unity3D along with Steam. Here are my system specs: Windows 10 (64bit) i7-4930K CPU 3.40GHz 64 GB RAM MAX 128 5 SSD HD 1 HD ASUS X79-DELUXE Motherboard I will have to request an RMA. Sorry guys and I have purchased many products from you(XFX) soI hope this can be fixed. So I can get back to working on my development projects! Thanks. I gave it 2 stars because I can use the card but it flickers and changes resolution for 2 minutes or more before it adjusts. I am also not recommending it until a fix is in place. Thanks.

    AMD 7NM GPU Crushes It

So, you are probably wondering why you should buy a AMD over NVIDIA right? you have heard all the people say that "AMD is just cheap". Well that isn't the case with the AMD VII. At first i was skeptical...Shelling out 750$ on the first 7NM GPU, but it was well worth it in the end. I just recently completed (world tier 4) The Division 2, and i had absolutely no problem at all running 2.7K at 144HZ on my monitor with everything set on high. Every game i have run on it i have absolutely enjoyed (except fortnite, because there were too many screaming kids lol). I highly recommend AMD because they put quality into there items (from what ive seen) and they provide it at a reasonable cost. If i had one comment for AMD to improve on this item, it would be just to make the cooling a little better, i can run a little bit on the warm side. But my case has shown it can handle it. My system SPECS. CPU: AMD 1950 Mother Board: GIGABYTE X399 AORUS PRO socket TR4 RAM: Corsair RGB PRO 3000Mhz Storage: 3 Samsung 1 TB 970 pro M.2's PSU: Corsair 1000X Case: Corsair Obsidian 500D RGB

Great Card with a Not So Great Design

The Radeon VII is a remarkable card in many ways. The sad thing is that AMD didn't have any AIBs put out so the reference design is all you can get, and it's not all that impressive really. The fans are loud, the design looks more of less like a brick, and it's a very hot card with a sub par cooling integration. That said, this card is still an amazing value with its generous allotment of HBM2 RAM and AMD first ever 7nm architecture. If you can look past the temps and the noise, it's a solid performer and amazing in many ways.

As a content creator and gamer this card does both of those very well. This card beats my 2080 in 4k video rendering and games just as well at 1080p ultrawide at 144hz+ gaming. Wish this card was pushed more as a gaming card as a non stock cooler would've been a nice addition and keep the Temps lower than it should be at full load. Sadly all the VII cards come with this cooler and now that it is at the end of its life this card will be oahsed out sooner than later. If you are looking for a great value, this card has it all imo

A premature review or "preview." Current drivers HBM clock speed caps at 1200Mhz which this card is able to hit. Supposedly other reviewers manage to hit 1200Mhz as well no issue. To my surprise it actually STILL improves performance despite [the card] having a ludicrous amount of bandwidth. The fact AMD's paltry 64 ROPs continue to scale off that baffles me. I undervolted and reduced the card's clockspeeds to essential Vega 64 OC levels. The cooler, quite frankly, is not a quiet type and these cards can get hot. How fast/noisy do you want your fans to run to cool the beast? Until drivers become better it's likely in your best interest to undervolt the card. Less power, less heat, more thermal headroom, better potential clocks.

I had issues with the drivers for this card immediately. Card would not setup my 3 24" monitors in eyefinity correctly. The resolution should have been 5700 x 1080 but only could get 5700 x 1000. Large black gap either on the top of screen or the bottom of the screen. Had to reinstall windows twice due to the amd driver software. Removed card from system and did second reinstall of windows. Not sure if I am going to return or try it in another computer. Seemed to work good with Oculus Rift S, but not three monitor setup.

I use this unit in a Mac Pro 2009 that was flashed to the Mac Pro 2010 version. I was using web drivers, made by NVIDIA, designed for Mac, that allowed an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1080 TI to work with the Mac Pro. However, NVIDIA is no longer updating the web drivers that will allow the 1080 TI to work with the latest Mac OS Mojave. However, Mac has installed stock drivers that will now allow the AMD Radeon VII to work with the Mojave OS, without the need for web drivers. I use the card for professional editing, with 2 LG 34 inch UHD 4K monitors. The setup is awesome!

I use this card mostly for Adobe editing stack, but performs really well on games. My monitor is only 60hz so I can almost max out every game at 4k and it holds at 60fps just fine! A beast in Adobe Premiere and After Effects! These are rare now and will soon be off the shelf since AMD only made about 5,000 units.

This is a beautiful card. You have to see it in person to truly appreciate it. The performance is a little underwhelming. I expected close to 2080 performance but was well underneath that in every game I tested. Even with fans maxed, this card gets hot. Overclocking is a no go unless you put it on a waterblock. The fans are as loud as a blower card. I replaced this card with a EVGA 2070 Super and the the 2070 performs better and is quieter/cooler.

I have had no issues with this card on anything I have thrown at it, with heavy loads it ramps the fan up a bit to where is a bit noisy, but all in all this card is totally worth the money for the power, minus a bit of configuring this card rocks

At the time of release, this card was a monster. Now that newer cards are out, this isn't as amazing. The VRAM is still impressive, though. Use case is pretty specific at this point in time.

As far as performance goes, it works just fine. Runs games well and handles whatever you throw at it. I have two complaints about this card, though. 1. It consumes a lot of power. Sufficient to notice a difference in my power bill. 2. Runs hot and requires additional work to keep it cool. Probably because it consumes so much power. If you have a two GPU build, vertical mount, or have limited space in your tower, be aware that this card will thermal throttle quickly. I had to open my case up and set up a small fan to keep it cool when running for longer periods of time. It performs well and all, but not worth over $600. Get it for the right price, or wait for the next gen and hope it is more energy efficient.
