Got this on a 3 day gaming sale for my first pc build and I think it works great once you tune the bios correctly so you actually run the graphics card to its full potential.

    Better Linux drivers than Nvidia

    Posted .

The drivers for AMD GPUS are much better than Nvidia on Linux. I have had this GPU since about February or March and having this GPU since then has been a good experience. Since the drivers for AMD are free and open source software, they are built into the Linux kernel which means I do not have to install any drivers for this GPU. Compared to Nvidia, Nvidia GPUs(I had a gtx 1660 super before I switched) are proprietary and are a pain to install and use on Linux. I would get screen tearing and having two mixed refresh rate monitors defaulted to my 60 hrtz monitor for both monitors. Switching to AMD fixed my GPU issues. Thanks to improvements in proton(a windows compatibility layer made by valve) I do not have to boot into using windows (which I do not want to because of stuff like microsoft telemetry, windows bloat, windows adware, forced copilot ai integration) and performance with games are pretty comparable and some games get slightly better performance which is due to Linux being a much more light weight operating system.

Fantastic 1440p gaming for the price

This is great for people looking for a performant 1440p graphics card in the $200 - $300 price range. I bought this for $230 ($250 with taxes) and it was a steal at that price. It plays most modern games at 1080p ultra or 1440p high/ ultra at 60 fps (without ray tracing). The main game I play with this is Elden Ring and get a consistent 60fps on 1440p with all settings on high. It performs somewhere between a RTX 3060 and RTX 4060, but for a fraction of the price (usually these NVidia cards are at least $300 without taxes considered). It may not have the 12 GB of ram that the 3060 has, but the processing power of the RTX 3060 can’t fully utilize the 12 GB of ram on new and future titles. If you are looking for a card that fully utilize over 8 GB of VRAM you are likely going to be looking at higher price category cards. For $200 - $300 range 8 GB is standard right now, and this is one of the highest performing cards with that amount of VRAM. The only downside with this Radeon card is that it’s secondary features like frame generation, resolution scaling and ray tracing aren’t as strong as NVidia’s, but only a handful of modern games support these features and AMD’s offerings in these areas are still adequate. Ray tracing isn’t viable for great performance on a lot of games on this card, but there are still a handful of games that can get some decent performance with RT on. I am able to play Control on High at 1080p 60 fps with most ray tracing features turned on. Generally speaking though RT is more of a nice luxury for some titles and isn’t really must-have. Aside from performance this is a pretty nicely designed card. It has a pretty inconspicuous black cover that feels pretty sturdy. When running, the fan on this card is super silent! I think XFX did a good job with the manufacturing. Overall I’m impressed with this card. It’s one of the best priced cards that can handle a vast majority of titles at High / Ultra 1440p no problem. It’s difficult to say if this card will perform as well on future titles. There is a trend of modern titles like Hogwarts Legacy and Resident Evil 4 Remake utilizing more than 8 GB of VRAM on highest settings at 1080p. So if you are concerned about future proofing you may want to look at higher performing cards with more VRAM. However for just $230 it’s an great deal.

I bought this on sale so my already budget friendly pc is now more budget friendly. Here’s the break down for my fellow geeks. My 3D benchmark is in the 9000 with 70 fps at 1440p in the hundreds at 1080p. This card is designed to only use pcie 8x lanes at gen 4 which is as fast as gen 3 pcie 16x. So if you have an older motherboard or older amd chip. It will only run gen3 x8 bus speed. Having said that it can run any game on ultra at 1080p and medium to high settings at 1440p. 4K dips in the 20fps and don’t get it if you want ray tracing. You can’t find a better NEW card for $250.

Bought this to replace an aging Nvidia GeForce 1660ti. While passmark suggests it’s only ~ 30% faster, the performance improvement - especially during the heaviest loads - is dramatic. Playing Doom Eternal on the ‘ultra’ graphics preset at 1080p I rarely see under 100fps. The card runs a little warm - I’ve seen low 80C pretty consistently - but no spikes to 90+ so the card’s thermal mgmt works. Also this thing is way quieter than the EVGA Nvidia card if replaced. Very happy so far!

I have had mine for over a year and I have no complaints. Saving money and outperforming the competition, if you don’t care for Nvidia gimmicks. Outperforms the 3060 by about 15% or more, and you save about $80 (as I write this, the card is on sale for $220). My card came with a free copy of starfield. I didn’t personally like the game, but regardless, Nvidia doesn’t do deals like that (a total value of $330 while I only paid $260).

Upgraded from an rx580 to this 6650xt and was not disappointed. DOUBLE the fps with max settings (not raytracing) and about 15*c cooler! Less power draw as well! Great efficient card. Fans do get loud at 100% but no need to run them that high. The stock tune is great right out of the box!

Excellent Video graphics Card. easy to install, works great. Works well with the Game World of Tanks. At Ultra setting the FPS is anywhere from 180FPS to 270 FPS. Detail is some of the better i have seen. Other Video functions are excellent. Works great with burning Blue ray discs really fast. I utilize the HDMI port for now. Thank You

Bought for my Best friend as an upgrade from his ancient 1050ti 4GB. Comparing this to my XFX RX6700 10GB (non XT) there's almost no real difference between that card and this in game at 1080p. They are very very close. Both of these cards handily beat the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 to the point its not even a fair comparison while in turn losing to the 3060TI. They both sit fair and square in the middle of the two GeForce rivals with the 6700 JUST managing to edge out the 6650XT to trade blows with the 3060ti (although not beating it, it does put up a decent fight against its rival) while the 6650XT is left to bully the 3060 (which is does quite well at) when it comes to gaming against its bigger brother the 6700 10 gig We are talking like 5 to maybe 10FPS difference most of the time in 1080p and around the same in 1440p with a slight edge going to the 6700 due to the hardware like extra cache, higher clock speeds and 2GB of extra VRAM. At this point in time it's not really worth it to buy the 6700, in the future as AMD does its fine wine thing the 6700 may end up decimating this card but there's no telling. I would suggest saving the money and just picking up this 6650XT as its a tank and $40 cheaper then the 6700 which only offers slightly better performance. as for build quality on these XFX units. They are stellar. These cards have a metal backplate, decent fans, they feel solid. they also run very very cool and relatively quiet. Its incredible how cool these run. if XFX does anything right its their cooling solutions with these HONKY absolute units they call a heatsink. the warranty is about average with 24/7 chat support if needed. If you have never heard of or used XFX, think of them as a slightly cheaper alternative to Sapphire. They are trust worthy and a respectable brand. I've used a few XFX cards. All are well built and have had no failures. One last note this card does require a single 8-Pin power connector from the power supply.

Considering how often this GPU goes on sale in this market, (I purchased for 250$ months ago and it still remains at this price) and the high tier performance this is one of the single best value GPUs on the market. The only tradeoff for the competitive performance and consistency is that some may have to switch to AMD's software, which does take some getting used to. Overall, extremely happy with my purchase 6 months in.

This is a great card for the price! With the chip shortage somewhat over, I was looking to finally upgrade my GPU. I upgraded everything to a Ryzen build two years ago but could never find a graphics card. As such, I was running on an old RX 480. Bought this one recently as the new AMD and NVIDIA cards are right around the corner but I got a 4k monitor that can do 144hz and my old card could not output more than 60hz at 4k. It’s a phenomenal midrange card! I can even eek out (with some tweaking) playable frame rates on Flight Simulator. Older games like StarCraft run at 110+ FPS easily, even at 4k. At 1080p, pretty much every game is playable and has good frame rates. For less than $400 it’s the perfect card to upgrade to right now, especially with the new range of cards coming soon. I will be upgrading later, because this isn’t really meant for 4k, but it’s wonderful to have something accessible and cheap to let me game at 4k while I am waiting!
