Q: does this device have the capability to transcribe to text on windows 10?
A: The device can't transcribe, but you can get the recording into windows through the USB. There are probably easier ways, but I used Microsoft Teams, opened a meeting with myself (meet now and just don't invite anyone else), shared my screen using the "share sound" button, turned on transcription, then played the file using Windows Media Player. It worked as well as MS Teams does to capture meeting notes.
Q: Will this recorder record a dog barking from 40 feet away?
A: This recorder will record something 40 feet away. Model Sony ICD-PX470
A: Yes it will. Make sure you choose the right *type* of recording, there are a few to choose from like music etc. Remember to keep the mics clear, don't have them covered or obstructed.
