This will definitely cool your room if that's your main concern. Yes, it is noisy, even at low speeds, it's natural considering it's using fans to generate cooler air, that's just mechanics. I'm an avid earplug user when I sleep so the noise is irrelevant to me and whenever I'm in my room I'm usually wearing headphones playing games to throw a tantrum over it. If you wish utter silence, consider paying really top dollar for such a thing, assuming it exists. I live in FL and it is incredibly hot and humid, a container or bucket is required for the excess of water it'll spit out, the cooler you want your space, the more water it'll generate. I attached the hose to a 5 gallon bin and while I slept, it'll be halfway in water when I'll wake up, that's roughly an 8hr window. I'm content with the size and don't have to worry about overflowing as I'll empty it throughout the day. If you look at the pictures the hose is being held down by the small black rubber band of the bottom drainage. The hose comes curved so this kept it secure. If you haven't gotten the picture, expect to drain liquid constantly depending how hot it is in your area. It's a minor inconvenience if it means I can have a colder room and be comfortable. Getting up 5-7hrs to dump water is a fantastic trade off for me. I do recommend the setup I made for myself, I use a wooden step tool, 16 inches in height, you can use whatever, the height is what's important, the higher the better, just make sure whatever you use to collect the water is below it. Get a big bin for peace of mind if you intend to run it while you sleep. I also added a sleeve to my hose, it does get very warm pushing all that heat out and I do notice a temperature drop in my room with it. It's optional but I'm trying to maximize my cooling more efficiently. I cannot stress enough how regardless of your location you'd be dumping water. How often, that'll varied. If you think you can go a day without, expect your carpet to be soaked and water all over your tile. It's also the fastest way to break the unit if left ignored. There is no portable AC that won't generate water due to the excess heat it's consuming. Do not waste your time looking for one, they don't exist. That's what they do. Owning any portable AC makes you accountable for its 'waste', in this case, water. If you have a drainage nearby, dump it there, or simply down your toilet or tub. Don't complicate your life. If you're on a budget and want a cooler room? This is a good one. PS the APP is OK, it took a bit to set up and it had mild hiccups but overall works fine, I can control it in the comfort of my bed if I'm feeling rather cold. That's good enough for me.

The TCL 300 SqFt Unit works pretty well when it wants to. By that I mean, it'll run the compressor for a bit but then shut off and only run the fan feature while it's on Cool. I don't know if it's a safety feature or a defective unit honestly. Nothing in the instructions explain it properly. Now it does mention to use the Smart Life app for use with your WiFi as the TCL App does not work with it. Thing worked solid up until the weather hit 90s with humidity. The unit is sleak and looks nice but it cooling cycle is very bizarre.

I acquired the TCL 7000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner, Fan & Dehumidifier for use in my two car garage. It gets pretty hot in there in the summer and I like to workout in the garage. So I was thinking that this 7250 BTU unit should do the trick nicely. I wasn't prepared for it to be intended for in-window installation as I don't have a window in my garage. So it took me some time to make a cutout and install a piece of duct and a louvred exhaust to vent the hot air. I first tested it in my office and it did fantastic at reducing the temp in the room. There are multiple windows in this room and a gaming PC, so it can get toasty. It very quickly dropped the temp in the room. I got the exhaust put in my garage and got it all connected. Within a few mins it was already dropping the temp in the garage and was making a noticeable difference in comfort level. I'm going to have to jerry-rig a bucket to drain the condenser into. If your primary intent is to cool a room of appropriate size, in this case 300 sq ft or less, then this device will do great. Where it fell just a single star short for me was with the smart features. The app was pretty much garbage. And it took me multiple attempts to get it connected. Every time I started the add device process it would kick open Google Home and attempt to add Matter in there, but then fail to complete the add process. This has to be a bug. Not sure why it wasn't working. I would prefer it work in Google Home because everything in my home uses Google Home. I did however finally get it working in their smart living app and it was pretty basic functionality. I had to cancel out of the attempted google home connect and switch back to their smart living app. After several failed attempts to connect (claiming bad password) it finally connected. Again there was nothing exciting about the app. So I will likely be using the remote more than anything. I will very likely uninstall the smart living app, as I don't want to have to try and deal with yet another smart home ecosystem. Everything you could do with the remote, could be done in the app. So not a lot of value there unless you could get it talking to Alexa or Google Home for voice control. Overall, I am pretty pleased with this unit. It cools quickly, looks nice, and was relatively easy to install. I would recommend to anyone needing a quick and dirty AC unit.
