We have three Keeshond dogs. If you're not familiar with the breed, they have very thick double coats. They blow their coat out twice a year. This vacuum is perfect for whole house touch-ups or for full house cleanings. It has three power levels and honestly, on the strongest setting, it's tough to move on the floor (carpet or hardwood) because the suction power is very strong. I use it daily and mostly on the low setting. I can get about an hour of use on mixed surfaces (pile carpets, runners and hard floors (tile & wood)). I absolutely love this machine. Great power, awesome tools and cordless! I am not disappointed at all.
If I had to say something negative about it, it would be that the package I purchased included several extra tools/attachments, and there is no storage for all of them provided. Luckily I was able to purchase a wall mount storage caddy online for about $10.

I got my 1st Dyson vacuum a few decades ago, 2nd a decade later. Both still work good, 1 upstairs 1 downstairs. This new cordless Dyson is much better. I may never use the others again.

This is not just a regular run of the mill vacuum. This is top of the line. Worth every dollar spent. It is so light weight and versatile. It takes some getting used to at 1st. But once you do you feel like you are not even doing house chores. Dyson is the only vacuum I would recommend. I can’t even remember the other vacuum company names. The picture shown is with the Dyson Dok.

I currently have a Dyson stick V6 and the upgrade to a V10 is nice step up. They are some differences in the configuration now, but the benefits are more power, capacity, and duration.
The unit comes with a bunch of accessories, 3 powered brush type devices, and the rest are just suction. The extension pole carries power to the accessory if needed. The powered soft pad one worked great on my hardwood floors. Picked up pet hair to debris with no problems and no scratches. The other powered cleaning tools are for carpet, one is full length and the other about half the size for tight areas. All work well, the ones will balls roll easily and the whole unit can be laid almost flat to get under furniture. On stairs whether with powered or suction only accessories the device had great suction and cleaned well.
The canister is bigger than the V6 (40% or more I think from the brochure) and they did it by changing the way it empties. On the V6 and V8, you hit a lever and the bottom releases. The intake is to the front of the device. Now, the release is to the front of the device too. So, you have to take off any attachments in order to empty the bin. Not a big deal overall. The release is easy, and canister moves forward and then the hinge is pushed releasing the door to let the dirt out. It’s a cleaner operation than on the V6. The dirt doesn’t stay in the container as much.
The battery is a little bigger on the V10, but it goes to 60 minutes. A lot better than the 15 minutes on the V6. The power stayed consistent for long runs with multiple canister emptying. It still has a filter, it’s on the top rear now and with a small twist pops right off. Needs to be cleaned once a month per the instructions. One of the best parts of the setup was the fact that the V10 wall charging unit uses the same distance on the screw holes as the V6, so no drilling new holes. Just remove the old and put in the new. The V10 also has a multi LED charge indicator. The unit is light, didn’t feel heavier than the V6, but with the canister on the front of the head unit and with an attachment the balance is a different in your hand, but that is something to just get used too.
Dyson wants this to be the only vacuum you need. For a smaller house or apartment, I think it could do it. For a larger house, I’m glad I have the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Allergy vacuum. The main reason is the canister size. Although the V10 is powerful, the canister is still small compared to an upright. Stopping to empty it would be a pain trying to do a whole floor or more. The powered accessories are a plus over the upright, but with pets, the V10 canister still fills up fast. The upright is more powerful too, but different tools for different jobs. For a portable cordless vacuum, the V10 does it all.
I included a picture of the V6 (yellow) and V10 (blue plastic is the filter that twists off) next to each other and the V10 opened. The bottom half of the V10 canister is about the max fill line.

This Dyson vacuum has managed to exceed lofty expectations set by it's price tag. Long-lasting battery—can clean whole house on one charge. Lightweight, easy to use and also looks good with sleek industrial design. Hands down the best vacuum I have ever owned.

Dyson Cyclone v10
Setup/Testing/Conclusion
I’m going to first start off by saying Dyson did a great job with the materials and craftsmanship of the Dyson Cyclone v10. I enjoyed the packaging they used and it honestly hooked me and would hook other consumers as well. I personally feel like it's really important for a company to market their product by creating an attractive packaging to contain the beauty of whatever it is they’re selling. Dyson definitely nailed that here. Although majority of the parts are plastic (the exception is the extension tube), the build quality feels sturdy and the Dyson Cyclone v10 looks sleek.
Once you open up the box and take all the parts out, it’s honestly really easy to put together. I first plugged in the Dyson Cyclone v10 to give it a full charge. A full charge typically takes approximately 3.5 hours. I highly recommend going over the operating manual because it tells you how to do a lot of different things such as attaching the attachments, how to empty the bin, how to wash the parts that could be washed, the different modes/functions, and of course proper safety guidelines.
Now to the usage. I got about an hour of usage on a full charge. I tested the Cyclone v10 on carpet and hardwood floors. First, I will state that the Cyclone v10 definitely did an excellent job cleaning my carpet and hardwood floor. My wife sheds on the regular and her hair is basically everywhere throughout the house. The Cyclone v10 had 0 issues picking up her hair and not only that, it didn’t get tangled anywhere. Both the torque drive cleaner head (for carpets) and the soft roller cleaner head (for hard surfaces) glided with ease. I love the fact that the Cyclone v10 is cordless yet has the power and suction of a corded vacuum. Squeezing the trigger to activate the Cyclone v10 is honestly pretty fun and cool. It makes a sound when you let go of the trigger, to be honest it reminds me of a ray gun or something; long story short I like it. The Cyclone v10 is not loud at all. I’ve owned several different vacuum cleaners in my lifetime. The Cyclone v10 is not loud at all so if you need to use it for a quick clean when it’s late, you shouldn’t be too worried about bothering your neighbors. Cleaning the Cyclone v10 is also relatively easy and the filter along with the head(s) are washable (read the manual folks!).
Now to the personal problems I have with the Cyclone v10. The only three things I’m not too fond of on the Cyclone v10 is the bin capacity, charge/usage, and the manual. The bin doesn’t last too long, I found that I needed to empty it about 15 minutes in to cleaning one room. I mean my house isn’t THAT dirty but the max fill line gets filled pretty quickly. With the corded vacuum I have, you can vacuum the entire house before you have to empty it. Granted the vacuum I have prior to the Cyclone v10 is bigger, bulkier, and heavier. The other problem I mentioned was listed above. So with a 3.5 hour charge, the Cyclone v10 only lasts about an hour. If you have a two story house with several rooms, you will not be able to get your entire house cleaned with one full charge. I purchased the previous model for my mom to clean her house and that was her main complaint; not being able to clean the entire house with a full charge. Although the Cyclone v10 charges in 3.5 hours instead of 5 hours like the v8, 3.5 hour charge to give you 1 hour of cleaning isn’t really enough time to completely clean a house. The last problem I have is with the manual. In my personal opinion, there’s not enough explanation in there. There’s a lot of illustration with “clik” here and there but there’s literally not much written explanation/instructions. So for example the 2 brush heads that came with the Cyclone v10, what are you supposed to use them for? The manual doesn’t explain it anywhere. I mean I’m not asking for paragraphs and paragraphs. The illustrations are nice but I feel like some more written explanation/instructions would’ve been helpful to new users.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoy using the Cyclone v10. It honestly has a very strong motor and does an excellent job cleaning. I had 0 issues vacuuming long hair that my wife sheds and had 0 issues picking up anything and everything on my floor. No real complaints there. As mentioned above, the only personal problems I have with the Cyclone v10 is the bin capacity, the charge/usage, and the manual. Would I recommend this to a friend or relative? Definitely. Because the Cyclone v10 does indeed do a good job with cleaning. But, would I tell them of the personal problems I came across with it? Absolutely. This way the person purchasing the item would know the ins and outs of the product. In conclusion, I feel like Dyson has definitely made an improvement over their last model. But as always, there’s always room for even more improvement.

With this company’s great reputation and excellent marketing, my wife and I were eager to purchase our first Dyson vacuum. And at first this device seems like a godsend, as it was able to do a great job cleaning our wood floors and area rugs.
However, within five months the motorized head began to self-destruct. Whenever we ran it there is the smell of burning plastic and shards of gray and purple plastic went everywhere.
I’ve tried communicating with Dyson customer service. They are polite, but unhelpful. And you know what, there’s no way to replace this on your $700 device. Dyson won’t sell it to you, local repair shops don’t have access to it. Basically you end up with a very expensive stick they can suck air.
Avoid this product until they create parts that will last.

A:I got my wife the v10 absolute and i don't think the time is a whole lot more. she said it lasts about 30 to 40 mins on max power. We have an upright for upstairs and a roomba does downstairs we just got v10 for the stairs. Hope this helps
A:Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Attachments that fit on the Dyson V6 cordless vacuums would not attach to the V7 or later models. The newer machines all feature the quick-release attachments. Any non-motorized V7, V8 or V10 attachments would be interchangeable. When it comes to motorized tools and attachments, those would be model specific.
Best wishes,
Kelly
