I spoke with a sales rep at Dell this morning, and you only get the burn in coverage if bought from Dell directly. The warranty you get when purchased from Best Buy is still 3 years, but only covers if the monitor itself stops working entirely. It does NOT cover burn in or dead pixels. Apparently you can purchase that extra coverage from dell, or get the geek squad 4 year coverage add on from Best Buy

I worked at Geek Squad for eight years, and I will say right now. Without GSP, you will not get any burn-in protection covered by GS or BB. I think the GSP would cover one replacement under burn-in damage. I know it wasn't much due to the cost of the panel. We would junk out an OLED. LCD/LED we could replace as long as the price didn't exceed the retail value. BB/GS might honor a year of MFG, but 99% of the time, we had to tell people to go to the manufacturer as the MFG did not authorize us to honor their warranties. There are exceptions with certain manufacturers. Samsung lets BB handle a lot, and I think LG or Sony was pretty good about letting them cover their warranty. TL/DR You won't get any burn-in protection out of the box without the Geek Squad GSP/warranty. Unless things changed in the last 2 years, you go to the MFG for all warranty work. When I worked for BB, we had no OLED monitors. Things might have changed. My experience applies to both in-home support and TVs.

They did confirm what others had said by telling me that the three-year burn in warranty is not included when purchasing from Best Buy and only included when purchasing direct from Dell. However, the rep spoke with someone else and said that I could still take it back to Best Buy if I had a burn in issue. Take that for what it's worth. I saved the chat transcript. -------------------- "( 26m 14s ) Dell Advisor - Priyanka: I understand, I have checked with our team and If you purchased a Dell Consumer, Gaming monitor through Best Buy in the USA, you can exchange it at any Best Buy store in the USA. To receive in-warranty service at a Best Buy store, you must have the original sales receipt of the purchase. ( 27m 58s ) Visitor: So I were to experience burn in issues within the first year for example, I could take it back to BB for service or exchange? ( 28m 56s ) Dell Advisor - Priyanka: Yes, It cannot be exchanged at Dell, But you can go to any nearbuy best buy to get the exchange and service. ( 29m 56s ) Dell Advisor - Priyanka: original sales receipt of the purchase should be available for the service."
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Dell generally covers all products against defects for 1 year. You can purchase Geek Squad Protection stand-alone or get protection included with the Total membership on everything you buy that has protection offered. Both of those offered by Best Buy cover most everything that could happen to it afaik
