A:Answer Hey, Dave! The answer to your question is yes, this modem is compatible with Cablevision. As a matter of fact, I bought the ARRIS TM822R for that same reason. Cablevision began charging its customers for their modem and I have had it with them charging me a fee of $10.89 a month (that's $130.68 dollars a year). So I decided to buy my very own modem and not rent it anymore. As far as backup battery, this modem does not come with one included. But they are very inexpensive. Besides, I don't think you would be needing one, the power never goes down here in the city. The modem is easy to set up. Your web-browser will prompt you to enter your Cablevision account information, and to restart your computer at-least two times, after this, you should be up and running. The modem is fast; I've had it for a month now and I have no complaints. One last thing, don't freak out if at first your browser doesn't recognize that you have a new modem, just, restart your PC, and wait for all the lights on your new modem are solid green. If it doesn't happen, disconnect your computer and modem for 30 seconds and that should do it; begin your registering process (Your name, your modem model number, and account number, that's all they ask for). Good luck with your new modem! If you decide to buy it. ;)
