QuestionWhy are there so many “5 star - Tech Insider” reviews? I am waiting for actual user reviews to tell the real story. Honestly the review content does not seem like the way normal isers will post unless they are paid!

- Answer Ameet, I am actually one of the reviewers. I assure you that I don't get paid and it actually costs me money, time and effort to do these reviews. If you feel the reviews are missing something, post a comment on the review. I always answer comments on my reviews. Also, as you can see, I also read the questions and try to provide helpful answers. I don't get paid to do that either. So, If you want to know something specific, just ask.

- Answer The G15 has a dim display in regular and gaming mode. The M16 is very bright 16x10 display which shows a lot more detail than the 16x9. Performance tests shows the M16 also performs better in gaming, video and photo editing.

- Answer As much as I know, the RTX 3060 gpu has a base tgp @ 80 W, it boosts to 95 W, I don't know about the i9's TGP

- Answer Not currently. Eventually, when games start to outpace these gens of graphic cards there would be, but right now, with this laptop only having a QHD (yes I know it’s slightly more.) screen instead of a 4K one, this graphic card fits well enough. If it had a 4K screen, I would say wait, because yes, there the 3070 would majorly over shine this card. It would be the little train that could vs a real train. The 3060 will barely chug along when it comes to 4K gaming. So if you’re planning to hook this up to a 4K monitor, pass on this and wait for the 3070. But again, for QHD gaming, this will work well.

- Answer You can go to 40 gb max by adding a 32 gb. There's 8 gb soldered to the motherboard and 1 slot for RAM. I have the stock M16 with 16 total and I haven't found it too little for what I do. Here's the info on the RAM. I put the specs below. You can get ram from Crucial and others. https://www.crucial.com/scanview/E3BCC59531D926C3 DDR4 PC4-25600 • CL=22 • Dual Ranked • x8 based • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR4-3200 • 1.2V

QuestionIs the extra M.2 slot a Gen3 or Gen4 slot? I'm just curious as I'm trying to get the fastest M.2 Drive for that slot. Buying a Gen4 drive for a Gen3 slot would be a waste of money where I can put that towards maxing out the RAM. And help would be great!

QuestionHow loud is the fan noise when working on videos or photos? How accurate are the colors for photos?

- Answer I have been using this identical laptop computer for a month now, and I do not find the fan noise to ever be loud or disturbing. I, too, have been doing considerable photo print scans and photo editing with Adobe Photoshop Elements for hours at a time, and I barely notice the fans running at low RPM. I have yet to push this laptop to such an extreme to ever require the turbo fan speed to automatically kick in. I know there are several reviews that discuss the fan noise, but I believe most of those are from fairly extreme game players who regularly push the components to absolute max and cause the computer to engage turbo fan mode for long periods, but for "regular" use, I find the fans run fairly infrequently and at lower RPMs, and do not make much noise at all. Also, I have not experienced any high heat buildup or super hot air blowing out the rear vents toward the bottom of the screen as any issues either (as a few other reviewers I found worried about). These were all issues I also considered when I was trying to decide which new laptop to purchase. Color rendering on the screen appears to be very accurate for photo work. I am quite pleased with it. I am extremely pleased with everything about this computer so far, and it is lightning fast. I would certainly give it my thumbs up.

QuestionDoes it have a PCIe gen 4 ssd?

- Answer According to specs provided directly on the Asus website for this specific model, the SSD is 1TB M.2 NVMe™ PCIe® 3.0 SSD. Other higher end models indicate they have PCIe 4.0 SSDs in them (but no indication if the motherboard also has PCIe 4.0 capability); however, those higher models still do not seem to be available in the US yet, and I have been watching for the last few months. I'm guessing perhaps labor or supply chain issues of some sort?? At the great sale price available now at Best Buy, I decided not to wait any longer and I purchased the particular model you are inquiring about, though, and I can say that it is incredibly fast even with a 3.0 SSD. I am extremely pleased with it and its amazing performance.

Question1. The laptop supports a maximum of 48GB of RAM, does that mean that its motherboard comes with 16GB of RAM and that it has a free slot to add a 32GB memory, so that both give the total of 48GB?

- Answer Mine came with 8GB on board and 8GB 1xR16 in the SODIMM. So maximum RAM is 40G.

QuestionHas anyone tried to run Ubuntu Linux or some variant on this laptop? I am thinking it should work with Ubuntu or Pop OS with the Nvidia Drivers but want to verify the Linux drivers work with this model.

- Answer The laptop was only qualified, validated and was released with Windows OS only, ASUS doesn't provide Linux drivers. If a Linux distro has compiled the necessary drivers for the laptop, it will work.
