- Answer No, the idea is that you can purchase prepaid time and use it. Once you run out then you can purchase more. Be careful of some customer service agents at ATT. My Daughter went to activate the device and the CS rep tried numerous times to get her to get a plan for the device saying it was needed, however my daughter refused to do so. That said, if you want to get a plan with it I suppose you can, however the idea is to purchase recharge time and use it like that. Hope this helps...

- Answer Always read the fine print. True unlimited will have no "throttling," meaning some companies refer to their plan as unlimited; however, the fine print reveals they give you a certain amount of data at high speed, and, once that is used up they "throttle" the service down to speeds similar to the old "dialup."

- Answer AT&T now offers a prepaid unlimited plan, but the download speed is maxed at 3 Mbps. This speed might not be enough for other needs, but for basic internet browsing and video streaming in standard definition, it will be OK. Just like the other unlimited plans, once you reach a cap (22 gb of data usage), your internet traffic may be subject to network management during peak times. A Best Buy AT&T rep can explain this better if you have other questions. The unlimited plan offered by Cricket wireless might be a better option, for the same price, the download speed is maxed at 8 Mbps, and runs off AT&T towers too. This mobile hotspot will work with Cricket wireless. Check it out!

- Answer Correct! But you still need to purchase a prepaid card $30-$50-$80 and it eill provide you with internet connection via wifi rather than using ur phone plane data! If u have Direct TV and ur cell phone is AT&T call up AT&T and tell them in your house younhave direct TV and they will change your plan to UNLIMITED EVERYTHING

- Answer No. Not unless you setup an auto pay. I have 3 for my students at our after school program and it allows us to connect 8 to 10 students each. When we run out of data...usually toward the end of the month I can add on a few more gigs for 10 bucks. It's easy to refill and load up via internet. My students love it. Connection is fast since I use it in my school office for wireless printing. Since we work on a grant I didn't want to get a contract. So when the grant ends so does the hotspot purchase. Excellent buy. Get it.

- Answer Streaming content uses a LOT of data. A single Netflix HD movie can consume around 3GB of data. Also, if you have a computer running Windows 10, be careful. By default, Windows 10 gobbles many GB of bandwidth CONSTANTLY. You will have to configure Windows 10 to NOT do this and it's a lot of work. Long story short, using any mobile hotspot as your primary Internet connection or to stream Internet content can be a very expensive proposition. You must understand how much data you use every month and buy the right data plan for your device. I have a 100GB plan from AT&T -- the biggest plan they offer -- because I work from home and use a lot of data every month. That plan costs me more than $400/month. I can only justify the expense because it is necessary for me to do my job every day. I would never pay that much for a data plan if my only need was streaming Internet content.

- Answer No. I use mine (multiple actually) about two or three times a year. The data plans are good for a month (don't use it all in a month, you lose it).

- Answer If the movie is 1.5 gig (which is a standard to stream off of itunes) it will eat up 1.5 gigs of data!

- Answer This is a WiFi signal you pay for so it creates a WiFi signal that you pay for. So if you got att cell phone account you can just add it to your account for 20 dollars and it gets you unlimited WiFi like I did all I did is add it to my unlimited plan and they charge me monthly 20 dollars and I got WiFi

- Answer It all depends on the quality of the service in your area. I have this and I have used it with att and cricket. It works amazingly well for gaming online. Though I am in a good service area. If att doesn't work well in your area then this device won't change that. I'm getting anywhere from 19ms to low 30s ping time and download speeds of over 20 down. While the ping times are higher than a dedicated fiber line, it is still plenty fast for gaming. I have no problems in first person shooters.

- Answer you just get a new sim for data only to use with this device... then it will run on its own and yes you can use it with your phone.. just enable the wifi settings and look up the device in the available wifi signals and connect ... too easy. you have to just pick a wifi pre paid plan with whatever new carrier you use for this device.. I got mine at best buy and they set it all up for me for free too.
