“Does the drip pan go underneath the heating element or above?”

Above. The point of it is to keep food from dripping on the heating element as well as on the bottom of the oven. It couldn't do the former very well if it were located below the element.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The instructions on Page 5 of the instructions (item 17) say to only place the drip pan on the oven floor, under the heating elements. This is in direct conflict with the diagram on page 8, where the drip tray is drawn so that it is clearly on the first pair of guides (runners) ABOVE the heating elements, and not on the oven floor. The fact is, it will not sit on my upper guides. It only rests on the oven floor.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yea we noticed the conflicting info in the booklet too. We personally put it on the very bottom below the elements. Having a tray right on top of the elements will effect cook times. The other thing is think about an electric oven. These elements hold up pretty well and shouldn't be affected by food landing on them. Most burns off like in an oven and the rest will wipe off really easy. Hope this helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Under the heating element. Do not use tinfoil to line the try though. I've used mine about a dozen times in the past 2 weeks and only had to dump the drip pan once.. that was with a 3lb rotisserie chicken and I only dumped it once while cooking.
