I believe it comes with 2 sample bottles of the solution. They recommend only using this solution, made for this product. Hope that helps!

Oxygen Boost formula as it states in the over view of what's included part of the description. As for other cleaning solutions, it should be able to but read the fine print in the manual. I used mine to detail our car's floor mats. It locked up using it, so I'm not sure if I had a defective unit or it was the cleaning solutions I was using. I made a call to Bissell support and after going through their questions, Bissell replaced it under warranty. My daughter used it with pet mess cleaning supplies and no issue.
