The other two answers I saw are both correct and cover most of the differences. There a few more differences I would like to mention: ink jet prints are generally water soluble, so if they get wet, the image is lost (there are special, non-water based inks you can get, but of course, there is an additional cost. Laser prints will not run in water, although of course, the paper can get wet, and if wet enough, will come apart). Print quality on an inkjet will not be as good as on a laser; this is especially noticeable in smaller font sizes. Inkjet color prints of people will generally be better, truer, more life-like. Finally, while the increased price of inkjet supplies was mentioned, the incredulity of the difference was not. It has been estimated that the price of ink refills are comparable to the price of the most expensive champagne, on a per ounce basis. Besides this initial cost, inkjet printers almost always go through a "cleaning process" when they are turned on, especially if it has been more than a few days since last use. This is because the ink dries in the nozzles. The cleaning actually uses ink from the cartridges to clean, depleting your supply even faster. Laser cartridges may cost more initially, but they also produce more copies on a per ounce basis. Plus, there is no problem with them drying out, so a printer in good working condition will produce a print of the same quality on day one as on day 365.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Two totally different formats. The ink jet as it says uses ink. The laser uses a toner cartridge. I've used ink jet my entire life. The cartridges run out quickly, and if one doesn't use them they dry up. I don't use a printer a whole lot; but I use it a reasonable amount. The laser printer won't dry out. I believe that for as much as I use a printer this may well last me the rest of my life, unless there is a mechanical failure. I'm 68. If you use a printer a lot the cartridges are expensive for a laser, much more so than an ink jet, but they never dry out from non use. It all depends how much you use it. Just my opinion
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Most important of all is pixels. Everything in the printing world is pixels. Inkjet uses two nozzles and is liquid, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black and does 300-720 Laser uses toner which is powder, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black 1200-1400 Edges, and borders are crisp, sharp, and smooth with Laser. Inkjet will be similar to dot matrix, as in textured or grainy edges. If using color scales laser will provide what you chose, inkjet the results may be poor to not at all.
