Q: QuestionWhat is the differece between the Canon 654 and 656 models?(1 answer)
A: AnswerThe 656 has a fax dialer built in where the 654 does not. Also the 655 has a scanning duplex and the 654 has a single scanner feeder. In other words the 656 will automatically scan both sides of a page placed in the top mounted scanner feeder but the 654 will only scan one side of the page, you will need to flip over the page and feed ir in on its other side.Answered by Rick687
- A: AnswerHa, I had the same issue, but finallly figured it out. If you use 8x14 paper then the paper tray will stick out. This piece will cover the gap. If you notice there are two pegs on the underside along the longer straight side. They fit into two holes along the inside rim of the paper tray. The flat smooth side is the topside. Hope that is helpful. Crazy that there is no explanation.

Q: Questionis there a different between ink jet an lazer printer ?(3 answers)
A: AnswerThe other two answers I saw are both correct and cover most of the differences. There a few more differences I would like to mention: ink jet prints are generally water soluble, so if they get wet, the image is lost (there are special, non-water based inks you can get, but of course, there is an additional cost. Laser prints will not run in water, although of course, the paper can get wet, and if wet enough, will come apart). Print quality on an inkjet will not be as good as on a laser; this is especially noticeable in smaller font sizes. Inkjet color prints of people will generally be better, truer, more life-like. Finally, while the increased price of inkjet supplies was mentioned, the incredulity of the difference was not. It has been estimated that the price of ink refills are comparable to the price of the most expensive champagne, on a per ounce basis. Besides this initial cost, inkjet printers almost always go through a "cleaning process" when they are turned on, especially if it has been more than a few days since last use. This is because the ink dries in the nozzles. The cleaning actually uses ink from the cartridges to clean, depleting your supply even faster. Laser cartridges may cost more initially, but they also produce more copies on a per ounce basis. Plus, there is no problem with them drying out, so a printer in good working condition will produce a print of the same quality on day one as on day 365.Answered by luislast

Q: QuestionI assume it has fax capabilities.(3 answers)
A: AnswerIt’s supposed to. It’s very complicated to set up. I am not happy with this printer. I have to keep resetting the WiFi every couple of days. Will never buy another one againAnswered by Anonymous
Q: QuestionCan this print in Mono (B&W) if the color cartridge(s) runs out?(2 answers)
A: AnsweryesAnswered by user329851
Q: QuestionIs the duplex printing automatic or manual?(2 answers)
A: Answer2-sided printing is 'automatic', once you choose that setting in the print dialog box. The printer will do it one-pass 2-sided printing 'automatically' - that is, you don't have to flip the pages and feed then through the printer again.Answered by Spock

Excellent home office true Laser printer
I purchased this Canon MR654Cdw to replace my Epson EcoTank printer. In short we are pleased with this Canon MF654Cdw purchase and would recommend a Canon Laser printer and this specific model. I went to the laser on this printer purchase as I am not printing frequently enough for the ink to continue to flow in the Epson. It clogs... using the Epson brand ink and paper. The Canon laser printer prints are very good. Are the prints a "photo quality" image in color? No and it isn't advertised as such. Is it pretty darn good image print - yes (see photo in this review). It prints an excellent image in full color and does so in seconds. Printing a letter / spreadsheet or something in black and white? Superior to anything ink jet. My wife and I both work in technology from home. While we do not print frequently when we do print we want the process to be easy (software drivers that work) and the print quality to be higher that run of the mill inkjet. This Canon MF654Cdw fit our needs. I was looking at other models of Canon Laser as well as a Brother Laser (which I had in a previous office). The features on this Canon won me over. Printed an envelope in my first week as a test... super easy with the feed slot. Was never that easy on my old printers. I have used the scanner with the feed slot - worked great. We are pleased with this purchase and would recommend Canon and this specific model to anyone looking for solid performance, great print resolution in a printer where you don't have to spend a messy 45 minutes cleaning the printhead of an ECOTank because the engineers when cheap and there is no easy way to remove, clean and reinstall the print head... looking right at you Epson... Likes: Print speed. Print quality. Reliability. Ease of use and the ability to print using the home wireless network. About my hardware: Apple Mac based with iPhones and iPads - my wife has a PC for work. It all worked flawlessly on this Canon. A refreshing change from our old printer.

A reliable and fast printer!
My fiance and I have been using this printer for a couple of weeks now and it has proven to be a workhorse. She is a teacher, so she needed a reliable color printer to print worksheets and paperwork for her students. This printer has not failed once since we began using it. As you can see from the sample prints, color sheets are printed very vibrant and crisp. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that the toner cartridges are very expensive. I haven’t had to replace the included toner carts yet but just from browsing online for a set, I know I’m going to spend quite a bit. I may end up trying some 3rd party toner carts to save some money and hope for the best. So I have to mention that before you invest into this printer, look around and get an idea of what toner will cost for it. This printer has wireless capabilities, will do fax, copy and double sided prints. It does it all! Well worth the price and I highly recommend it for offices, smalll businesses and teachers!

Very Good product with a Couple Downsides
Purchased for home use with Apple products. My previous printer required a print application that was a bit annoying and wasn't always compatible with AirPrint, which is used in our household quite a bit. The printer works well. I've had no major issues with it so far in the last month or so. However, There are a few minor gripes.. which certainly be just personal preference. First - it's extremely heavy and twice the size of my last printer. This may be due to the laser print capability, as I'm coming from an inkjet printer. This is a bit of an issue, as I originally planned to mount this on a cabinet. It's currently sitting on the floor of the home office until we are able to find a furniture piece sturdy enough to hold it. Next, it's extremely loud throughout the entire printing process. It's hard to hear anything else in the office when the printer is actively printing. Also, the printer came with an additional piece of plastic (I'm assuming it is to guide paper out as it prints), for which I cannot find instructions on the website or the brochure as to where it goes. This hasn't affected the printing process so far, but it is a bit concerning, as it's not listed anywhere in the brochure breakout of printer parts. The aforementioned issues are minor to me, but may be major to some, so consider these things when making your purchase decision.
