  • QuestionCan you load Google Chrome on the Laptop and/or can I access GMail?

    Asked by Sue1.

    • Answer Simplest question first: you can access GMail on any computer, on any browser. Just type "gmail.com" (without the quotes) in the address field and hit enter, then sign in as usual. Second: In order to install the Google Chrome browser, you will need to exit S Mode. The Microsoft Store is your best first choice for this. Open the Store and type "exit s mode" in the Search field. Follow the instructions. In the event you get stuck or can't follow this procedure. Microsoft provides a few procedures. Go to microsoft.com on your computer and type "can't exit s mode" in the Search field. The first step should be what has been summarized here, so you can skip it and start with the second procedure. Finally, it is a COMMON MISCONCEPTION that you cannot go back to S Mode. That is COMPLETELY UNTRUE. A Factory Reset will return you to S Mode. HOWEVER, it will WIPE YOUR DRIVE COMPLETELY, and anything you put on it, from you login on, will be lost.

  • QuestionSpecs say Windows 11 Home. Box says Windows S. Which is it?

    Asked by Phil.

    • Answer Just bought yesterday and have been trying for 6 hours to remove S mode. Store won't let me, work arounds are futile, unreal this cant be simply removed. Updated all apps as well still cannot remove S mode to simply put on Chrome

  • Questionwhat is S mode?

    Asked by sue.

    • Answer The other answer about security and performance is correct. Another advantage is that it is slightly faster and uses less battery power. The answer about S Mode is incorrect. The easiest way to exit S is through the Microsoft Store. HOWEVER, you must update Windows FIRST. This is because the Store has to be updated in order to access that particular function. Additional methods can be found through a search on the web.

  • QuestionDo not like to use touch screen. Can a mouse be used too?

    Asked by Musicman.

    • Answer You can, or use the touchpad. But since you are basically paying for a feature that you don't want, you might consider a cheaper laptop without a touch screen.

  • QuestionHow do you exit S Mode? I have done all the things I could find on Google and none of them work.

    Asked by Customer142.

    • Answer You would go through the Windows store & get the "Switch out of S mode".

  • QuestionIs this Laptop used or New?

    Asked by Kely.

    • Answer Unless specifically stated otherwise, all computers Best Buy sells are brand new. When, as occurs occasionally, they also sell some that are not new, these will be individually labelled "Open-Box Excellent" ("looks brand new, Includes all original parts/accessories, typically contains packaging"), "Open-Box Good" ("minor to moderate cosmetic signs of use possible, any signs of use will not impact performance, nonessential parts or accessories may be missing)," and "Open-Box Fair" ("significant cosmetic signs of use, vital accessories may be missing").

  • QuestionDoes it come with virus protection?

    Asked by sparks.

    • Answer As noted in the other answer(s), it comes with Defender, MS's own protection, which has improved since its first release, and would be considered good enough for most people. If you even occasionally go to websites that have been flagged, you should consider upgrading to another, paid program. Many ISPs and cable TV providers will also provide better antivirus programs, for free, as long as you subscribe to their service.

  • QuestionThe spec say 1-8gb of ram. Some replys say it has 8g,2 slots, available. Is the present specs as installed 1-8gb or 2-4gb of ram, makes a difference for any future updates to ram cost.

    Asked by Compman2.

    • Answer Since it comes with 8GB, and can only BE upgraded with another stick of 4GB or 8GB, you would pay more for 8GB than 4GB. Bigger is usually pricier.
