Simplest question first: you can access GMail on any computer, on any browser. Just type "gmail.com" (without the quotes) in the address field and hit enter, then sign in as usual. Second: In order to install the Google Chrome browser, you will need to exit S Mode. The Microsoft Store is your best first choice for this. Open the Store and type "exit s mode" in the Search field. Follow the instructions. In the event you get stuck or can't follow this procedure. Microsoft provides a few procedures. Go to microsoft.com on your computer and type "can't exit s mode" in the Search field. The first step should be what has been summarized here, so you can skip it and start with the second procedure. Finally, it is a COMMON MISCONCEPTION that you cannot go back to S Mode. That is COMPLETELY UNTRUE. A Factory Reset will return you to S Mode. HOWEVER, it will WIPE YOUR DRIVE COMPLETELY, and anything you put on it, from you login on, will be lost.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You have to switch out of S mode. You can do this by following these steps. Switching out of S mode is one-way. If you make the switch, you won't be able to go back to Windows 10 or Windows 11 in S mode. There's no charge to switch out of S mode. To switch out of S mode, click here to open the Microsoft Store to the Switch out of S mode (or similar) page. On the Switch out of S mode (or similar) page, select the Get button. After you see a confirmation message on the page, you'll be able to install apps from outside of the Microsoft Store. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/switching-out-of-s-mode-in-windows-4f56d9be-99ec-6983-119f-031bfb28a307

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This reply is especially targeted to Mike, who was having trouble leaving S Mode (4 months ago): I hope that you have been able to upgrade from S Mode by now. If not, these are my suggestions: 1. If you didn't already, try clicking on the link "Try again" several times. 2. Run "Update" on your computer, repeatedly, until you get the message that there are no more updates available. Make sure the MS Store is one of the updates. Try updating again. 3. Microsoft has a few alternate methods to perform the S Mode exit. Go to their website (microsoft.com) and search "can't exit S Mode." Try these procedures. 4. If all else fails, try going to the Best Buy store near you and explaining your problem and difficulty. They might still allow you to make an exchange.
