It will work to generate Front Left, Front Right and Center track info from a 5.1 Dolby or DTS format, but you will be missing out on 25% of the track with no Surround channels connected. You can also use the 3 speakers in a Multi Channel Stereo application as the the Center channel will receive a mix of left and right audio.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I hooked up my Denon receiver with right, left, center, and subwoofer. I did not hook up the rear surround sound. This configuration works fine for me with the EXCEPTION of my Amazon Firestick. I'm not sure why, but when streaming through my Firestick, I am only able to hear sound from the left, right, and subwoofer. I think it must have something to do with the compression that is used to stream from that device. I still plan on working on it and setting it up differently to fix, but haven't figured it out quite yet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it will work just fine. You can adjust the speaker levels manually if you need to. You will hear the dialog better if you put the mode in “stereo” rather than “dolby”. But if you add the subwoofer and rear speakers, and use the external mic to set speaker levels, the surround sound from this receiver sounds great! Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have operated my Denon with Left Surround and/or Right speakers disconnected while I was painting my ceiling. The remaining speakers worked fine.
