Yes. There is a button to turn off and raise the roller. Then it works well on the hardfloors.

Absolutely. It actually works the best on hardwood surprisingly. Dyson recommends turning the brush head off on hardwood. You turn the brush head back on for carpet. It does super well on standard household carpet. There’s an auto adjusting head. It doesn’t do a great job on area rugs and tends to suck them up lol

WARNING...this vac is fragile...don't treat it like it could take a tip over, plastics are cheap and feel very brittle. But for picking up dog hair this thing is amazing.
