I asked this same question when I was browsing the models. It's meant for hard surfaces such as tile or wood. To me, it wasn't worth the extra 100 dollars to go from the Animal to Absolute for just that roller when we've done without soft rollers on hard surfaces for all time before now. The rest of the accessories and parts are the same.
