Hello Sirius, this is Kelly with Dyson. Both Dyson AM09 and HP04 Pure Hot + Cool operate at 1500 watts in the highest heating mode, so in terms of which would be more cost effective, both would essentially be the same. The HP04 purifies the air in cool or heat mode; the machine is always purifying, when the machine is turned on, and that function doesn't consume more power. As air is drawn in through the bottom of the unit, it's purified as it passes through the filter, and that purified air is expelled through the amplifier loop when the machine is on.
