• Hi Char, this is Kelly with Dyson. The HP04 Pure Hot + Cool is a bladeless fan, so there are no blades should your child place their hand through the loop. The loop itself can get warm, if you're using it in heat mode. As a safety feature, if knocked over your machine will automatically shut itself off. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

• The heater does not get hot at all so little hands can get close and they will not get burned. If the heater tips over then it shuts off, it’s a safe thing to have in case someone tips the machine. The machine works great and I love how it’s helped with my allergies
