You're not going mad.....I've seen the same green light on the battery (exactly...NOT blue) but only after running the vacuum continuously for several minutes so I suspect it's a battery overheat sensor. If you disassemble the V7 battery you can see the thermocouple. Other Dyson vacuums also have battery temperature sensors. What I fail to understand is why this information is so hard to find on the Dyson website (or in fact any website). Maybe it's there but I couldn't find it. What's the point of a warning light if you have to go dredging the internet to (fail) to find what it means!! I share your frustration!

You shouldn't be seeing a green light when plugging in your V7 Motorhead to the charger, but rather a blue light which is indicating that your machine is connected, and charging.
