  • QuestionWhy is my dyson cordless not holding charge

    Asked by norma.

    • Answer I had the same problem. This trick fixed it perfectly:- Unplug the charger from the wall. Plug it in again. Attach your Dyson and press the trigger (on button) for around 20 seconds (nothing will happen, just keep it pressed). My Dyson worked perfectly again straight away after doing this.

  • QuestionDoes it need to stay plugged in when not in use in order to keep its charge? Can I just plug it in for recharging, and then unplug it and let it sit until I want to use it?

    Asked by RR.

    • Answer I'm unable to plug in the charger to my hanging Dyson vacuum because there's no outlet, so I fully charge mine only to store the charger in my utility drawer. Does it lose battery if it's not plugged in at all times as it sits idle?

      Answered by ShawDaddy

  • QuestionIs there a way to lock the on button or do you have to hold it while running?

    Asked by Ang.

    • Answer Do you have to hold down the button on the dyson v7 animal cordless vacuum to keep it running

  • QuestionDoes this work well on real hardwood floors?

    Asked by CleanQueen.

    • Answer No, it scratches my Bellawood hardwood floor and it leaves a line of dirt/dust whenever I stop and change to a different area. The attachment that comes with the D7 is a beater bar that is made for carpet. Not good on hardwood. I am going to purchase the articulating hardwood floor attachment in hopes that it will work better and not scratch my floors. I think ithe hard floor attachment should be included with the purchase of the vacuum, as it is an expensive endeavor, especially if I will have to replace my $3000 floor after just a year of having it!

  • QuestionCan I store and charge my Dyson V7 in the garage where it gets very cold and or hot due to changing New England weather temperatures?

    Asked by DysonV7.

    • Answer Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. To ensure optimal battery performance, and to also help prolong the life if your Dyson V7's battery, we do not recommend storing the machine in a cooler area, such as a garage. The Dyson cordless should be stored indoors, and we do not recommend using the machine or storing it in temperatures below 37.4°F. You will want to make sure the vacuum is at room temperature before use. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

  • QuestionCan you go straight from hardwood floor to carpet while vacuuming, or do you need to change anything? Or push a different button?

    Asked by Sam.

    • Answer You can just go straight from one to the other. I go from hard wood flooring to a shag rug with no problems.

  • QuestionDoes the battery have to be completed discharged before putting on the holder

    Asked by DJET.

    • Answer No, try to keep it above 20% if possible. Batteries’ life spans overall diminish if you keep letting them drop to 0%, that goes for any product

    Asked by Peeps.

    • Answer Hi, The only difference is the beater bar is different. The motor, suction, and battery life is the same between models. We have the Motörhead and have pets. It does a great job. Buy whichever one is cheaper in my opinion.

    Asked by Shannyk1.

    • Answer when you attach the stick portion it does use the battery up quite a bit quicker... i can use the handheld with the rotary head for about 20-25 minutes but with the whole kit n' kaboodle it lasts about 15-20, and then maybe 10 total when on power suction...

  • Questionthere seems to be no information abut the charging module! 1- how does it mount? 2. where can it mount? 3 does it have to be mounted at a certain Height? Need to know now!! thank you

    Asked by don.

    • Answer Hello Don, this is Kelly with Dyson. All of the Dyson cordless machines will include a charger and the dock which you can wall mount. Use of the dock is completely optional. The charger is completely independent of the dock. When the dock is mounted to the one, the end with the pin that charges the machine will snap in to the dock and the cord will thread behind the dock with the other end plugging in to your power outlet. The dock will need to be mounted a certain number of feet away from the outlet, to allow room for the machine. There will be instructions included in the user guide along with a diagram outlining this. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

  • QuestionIs this vacuum good on thick carpet?

    Asked by Daniel.

    • Answer The vacuum does well on carpet but if the cart is too thick or the threads in danger of wrapping around the brush head the vacuum will turn off. It has a safety feature that if something is obstructing the suction, the motor will stop so it does burn out.

  • QuestionCan you charge it laying down if you don’t have the time to bolt the dock on the wall? Will this damage it?

    Asked by Christy.

    • Answer Hi Christy, this is Kelly with Dyson. You can store/charge the Dyson V7 Motorhead in a few different ways. You do not have to use the included wall dock - that's optional and the machine will not receive a charge from the dock alone. When mounted to the wall, the charger cable will thread behind the dock, so one end is plugged in to your wall outlet, and the other end is making contact with the machine. You can just plug the charger right in to the machine to charge it. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

    Asked by Sviicki.

    • Answer Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. we're sorry to hear that you're experiencing an issue with your V7 Motorhead holding a charge. Our cordless models feature a run-time enhancing trigger, hygienic bin emptying, and a variety of tools and attachments to tackle varying cleaning tasks. With regard to battery life on our V7, your machine features two power modes, regular and MAX. Right out of the box, the machine will be set to MAX power, which provides a generous boost of suction power to tackle more stubborn messes or larger debris. In this mode, your run time will be up to 7 minutes.
