Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. To ensure optimal battery performance, and to also help prolong the life if your Dyson V7's battery, we do not recommend storing the machine in a cooler area, such as a garage. The Dyson cordless should be stored indoors, and we do not recommend using the machine or storing it in temperatures below 37.4°F. You will want to make sure the vacuum is at room temperature before use. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Charging a Lithium ion battery in freezing temperatures will damage the battery.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Before storing your unit in the garage, be aware that it could be a problem if the garage is not temperature controlled and you live in a climate where freezing temperatures can occur. The manual states not to store the unit in temperatures below 3C (37.4F). However, it does not say why. Upon digging deeper, although I live in the USA, I discovered this on their UK website: “Your machine won’t operate or charge if the ambient temperature is below 3°C (37°F). This is designed to protect both the motor and battery.” I store mine in the garage. It has been below 3°C here for several weeks and my unit has been intermittent. Now I know why. When I took it inside for 30 minutes and allowed it to warm up, it resumed normal operation. Symptom is that charger shows everything is fine we 3 bars lit. Removing from charger and trying to use results in motor stopping after 1-2 seconds and battery indicator immediately going to a single flashing blue bar. Does not matter whether switch is in in MAX mode or normal mode. Does not matter if power attachment is used or only vacuum unit itself. All that matters (as I now know) is ambient temperature of the battery.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use mine to keep cars clean. I keep it in the garage. The unheated garage. That said, it doesn't work very well when it gets cold. I tried to get answers from Dyson and IMO got the run around from customer service. IOW, they tried telling me it was anything but the machine or the battery and charging system. I still like the device and it works well but not when it is cold.
