Krystal with Dyson: why is using a plug adapter with the V8 not recommended if the unit is designed for dual voltage?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm a Canadian Foreign Service officer so my family and I move around. It's what we do. I can confirm that any device that runs on a battery and has a power adaptor that works on 110/240V and 50/60Hz will work fine outside of North America. We have powerbars with universal plugs. It's nonsense to say that it won't work or that it's not recommended. My Dyson V10 works fine here in India. Unfortunately, my wife can't buy a Dyson hairdryer or Airwrap. Dyson did not make those appliances dual voltage.

Please try again later.Dyson customer support in the UK responded with this: I can confirm that the US model will work in the UK, however the charger plug would not fit in a UK socket. Please be advised that as we do not advise using an adapter, we would recommend purchasing a genuine Dyson UK charger.

Dyson machines are built and sold for the country in which it is purchased from. Therefore, the machine will come with the required voltage for that country. While the charger does support 110-240v, it is designed for use in the country in which it was purchased in. Therefore, it will include a US charger for a US based outlet.
