QuestionIs there any way to lock the power button on without having to hold it while I vacuum?

- Answer Believe it or not at this price point there is no way to lock the power button. My friend got one, after 5 minutes her hand, wrist and forearm were exhausted. This is the most ridiculous design flaw ever and the answer given by the company is nonsensical. I won’t even get a watering wand attachment without a lock button. Imagine trying to get your house vacuumed in one go. This is a complete dealbreaker unless all you’re going to do is quick vacuum jobs.

QuestionCan you lock the trigger on the Dyson Animal V8 so you don't have to keep holding it down while vacuuming?

- Answer I got this vacuum for Christmas and love it except for the trigger grip. I have arthritis and that position is painful. I keep trying to hold it a different way, but it doesn't work as well. This is a real pain. I can't believe they wouldn't design this with a permanent on option. Very poor design decision!

QuestionWill the Dyson V8 Absolute possibly scratch my new darker hardwood floors, if I use the appropriate option for hard floors rather than for carpeting?

- Answer YES! it will scratch your dark hardwood floor. The rotating head doesn't scratch it, but the bottom of the stick somehow does. I have to be very careful and sort of hold it up else I'm bound to get a light scratch. Good luck

QuestionDo you have to wait for full charge to take it out and use the V8 absolute again? Also, why would you not want to use Max all the time, besides the seven minute limit drawback? How do you know that you're getting enough suction on the standard power?

- Answer Hi Carol. Thank you for your interest in the V8 Absolute. You do not need to wait for it to have a full charge to use it. However, without a full charge, you do not get the full battery life for each use. MAX mode is great for heavier debris. With the clear canister, you will be able to see that you are getting enough suction as you will see the debris within the canister, ensuring you that it is picking up. QuestionHi ... I am looking for a Dyson cordless and stick. My problem is that the electric outlet is close to the floor and I cannot keep it with the long stick for recharge as seen on the demo. Can I keep it lower or without it for next time cleaning work?

- Answer You can choose not to use the plastic hanger part and just plug the power wire to the unit to charge it. We keep moving it around the house to charge so far since we don't have a pantry or space in the laundry room to mount it to the wall. we also remove the long stick so it takes up very little space. hope this helps.

- Answer The V8 absolute and V8 animal have the same power. The V8 Absolute has more accessories and is at the same level for pet hair than the Animal version The V8 absolute is more complete, the V8 animal can be sufficient if you only need it for pet hair

- Answer In my honest opinion yes!. I do wish the battery was easily replaceable for more cleaning with this you have to undo a couple of screws. But if you vacuum for quick cleaning it's great. I get about 30 mins of cleaning with this v8 with the motorized head. The 40 mins of cleaning is without motorized accessories.

- Answer I am finding the carpet head on my Dyson a bit too harsh on our antique rugs. I can recommend the soft roller head which seems to pick up a lot of the dust but is not chewing the ancient fibres.

- Answer The instructions say to use 43.5 inches from the floor to the bottom bracket on the wall mount. Doing this still leaves a good 6-8 inches of space from the bottom of the vacuum to the floor.

- Answer For the first 2 uses so far, I averaged 21-23 minutes of runtime with the motorized heads (direct drive and soft roller brush) before needing to recharge. This is while using "standard suction" and not "max suction." I want to emphasize that Dyson's estimate of '40 minutes' applies only if non-motorized attachments (such as crevice and car tools) are used. For the canister, I will get definitive measurements with a photo and post again in the future...

QuestionWe are interested in the V8 for use in our motorhome. Camping shoes often carry in small rocks up to the size of a pea - will this machine pick those up from smooth floor? We have the Dyson Animal vac in our house and love it.

- Answer I have picked up screws with this. So I am sure it will pick up pea sized rocks. I have an animal also and can tell you this thing has plenty of power. And with 2 speeds I use it all the time.
