• Yes you must plug usb C for powering home base. It has Wi-Fi so no need to use Ethernet only for initial set up. Wi-Fi mode setting also double as access point or range extender. The doorbell is battery charge by USB c and it can be hard wired to power existing doorbell, only catch I think is it doesn’t ring on existing door bell chime only on home base which in sense can be put anywhere pending Wi-Fi signal throughout home because doorbell has Wi-Fi connection.
